  1. So glad we didn't have to wait for Feb 2! This is the best one yet, all together and rehearsing. Yes, it looks like Otis Costa Mesa so that's probably where they were in the group photo we got. And Kevin too! Recording an extra guitar part like Jason did for the trilogy? And I love the sound because it really is OG Green Day again and it rocks. The excitement is building as intended

  3. Is it unrealistic? Yes. Do I like the way you think? Yes.

  4. Maybe it is a new album. Half recorded in London, half in US.

  5. Songs like Graffitia and Meet Me On The Roof are one of my favourites (top 20), but Crush has this "how do you do, fellow kids?" vibe, although playing stadiums is awesome and I will go to Paris show this year, finally, I hope. I don't get this Butch Walker hate. Green Day OK'd falsetto, claps, etc., and I liked different side of the band, it was something fresh. I think most people don't like songs themselves, and I could understand this. 1972 could turn out completely different even with same producer. We just don't know anything yet, but I have complete faith in Green Day.

  6. So I just had an almost impossible hypothetical- so we get a 6 song album, but the final one's a half-hour long medley JoS style which cuts up all the famous unused and unreleased songs (Olivia, Oh Girl, You Can't Fool Me etc etc) in one long, expansive B-side, with thick guitars and it ends with the opening riff to 1,000 hours, then studio hiss for another 40 seconds before Billie stops the recording. (Idk I just caught myself thinking of unrealistic scenarios, do you like the idea tho?)

  7. Every time someone says that, I think "well that's just a stupid thing to do". It makes them look bad and is kind of a fuck you to the fans. Which is why I don't think that's what they did. I think they liked what they were making at the time and had a lot of fun creating and recording the songs together and that's why they made it

  8. I like what I hear so far. This has me cautiously optimistic! I love seeing the boys in a recording studio again, laughing, and obviously having a good time. Hopefully some official news drops soon

  10. That sounds an awful lot like Green Day which is actually a bit of a surprise Fuck yesssss

  11. I believe it is their Costa Mesa/Newport Beach studio/rehearsal space.

  12. We haven’t been treated to snippets of the creative process since the trilogy! It’s cool seeing them recording demos for the new songs (wherever this is, it’s not RAK because of the US plug sockets in the shot of Mike spray painting the wall).

  13. The last riff reminds me of 'The Static Age'.

  14. The fact that they were in the same room was a hint in itself because it would only be work related and was shared in that knowing, teasing way. Just a question of what they’re up to.

  15. I love how people just wanna blame Butch and not GD for the production qualities as if GD is some no name group who has zero say in their recording process…

  16. Coming off the momentum of this enormous tour with their greatest hits on the minds of the public, it would be great if they could capitalize on it with a killer new song that recalls their best sound when they play the Superbowl music fest. I’m really rooting for them to bring it. Where’s that killer instinct of old guys?

  17. New teaser!! This sounds like it’s going to be a bit of a return to form and I’m all in

  18. Lot of people talking about FOAM and Butch Walker. I was sceptical of the album in the beginning but it really grew on me (even the songs I thought never would) and now it's just another GD album to me. I just think Butch Walker and the whole Crush thing are kinda cringe. Can't put my finger on it. Just my opinion

  19. Maybe Tre drummed so hard that he smashed his and had to use that one, only to smash it too. But he paid the other drummer handsomely. The other drummer is Bono, who is joining Green Day because he thinks his own band is stupid. My mind wanders.

  20. The last story from Butch where he mentioned @reverb - that is definitely not Tre‘s drum kit!

  21. I don’t really know much about Butch Walker but looking through his Instagram just now looks like he’s really interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next. Being a Green Day fan is an amazing super positive thing. The best band and they work so hard to bring us so much good stuff. How lucky are we??

  22. A lot of the decisions were def brought on and at the very least green lighted by the band but… It is crazy how sensitive Butch is to criticism - literally any creative decision that gets backlash he redirects right back to GD, even though it matches his style and GD has talked about how much of a partnership it was 😂

  23. I think there's a lot of confusion between production and mixing + mastering around here. Production decisions, imo, let FOAM down - whether that was Butch Walker's doing or Green Day's (or as all evidence seems to point, both). When I say that I mean the creative decisions made in the recording process to realise the songs written, i.e very different sounding guitar tones from previous albums, hand claps, synth sounds etc. This is where I think Revolution Radio is miles ahead of FOAM, with the band producing themselves and choosing to go in a more 'Green Day' direction with a lot of Who influences and massive sounding guitars. From a mixing (+mastering) point of view FOAM sounds great -- much less smashed by limiters during mastering, and things like vocals generally sound more well recorded and have fewer glaring issues with balance and certain harsh frequencies which RevRad suffers from. Personally I have no reason to believe that Butch Walker couldn't produce a more 'Green Day' sounding record if that's what the band wants, although I must admit I'm not super familiar with any of his work outside of FOAM so obviously not a great start. Mainly just hope they go back to a more organic sound, with less compressed drums and bigger guitars.

  24. People have been referencing Static Age after hearing this and I would say that’s no small compliment. To me that is one of their most underrated songs because it hits that sweet spot that is the perfect blend of power pop through a Green Day filter and that’s what this sounds like to me as well. It’s them at their best.

  25. I haven't freaking out like this in years!!! Omg these teasers are so exciting yet I want to hear at least one song right NOW

  26. This is exciting! I was so hoping for something amazing this weekend! I haven’t even looked yet! I’m looking now! And already freaking out! OMG KEVIN IS THERE? WHERE IS THIS? Kevin didn’t go to the UK. This is so exciting. Green Day are the most awesome hardest best working band ever and I am so happy we get to see these teases and the excitement is building!

  27. Not til the 2nd. We got a mini hint a few days ago. The pattern is repeating itself. Major hint (London studio video.) Minor hint (new years cutie anime art #1972 post.) Major hint (video of BJA playing guitar which was another #1972 hint.) And the most recent (another cutie anime #1972 art post.)

  28. Butch Walker os not a Rock man. Green Day needs a rock producer

  29. Dang. We’ll have to find someone else to blame for those claps then. I bet it was Chris Dugan. Hope he’s not involved with the next album.

  30. I’m hitting the optimistic point of the Butch walker news… the clips we’ve heard have been short but sound nothing like FOAM. Maybe everyone learned a lesson, and if Butch can just effectively capture new Green Day ideas maybe it will still be a great return to form

  31. i would argue that sugar youth is another one with green day vibes

  34. I think you’re great at the theories! When do you think? I think soon. Not exactly sure of the date but either by next weekend or two weeks from now. Before the end of January or right at the beginning of February.

  36. Sounds raw, love it. Kinda trilogy-esque. Think I just invented a word there. 😅

  37. I really like this sound! And Kevin is with them! Maybe they're rehearsing the new material before the tour? Nice catch!

  38. It sounds like Green Day. Which may be a good thing but hopefully it's not them doing something they've already done. It sounds good enough but it's hard to tell just from a couple of teasers whether it's gonna be a return to form or not
    2 points
  39. Does anyone else think it sounds a bit like the trilogy? I loved this teaser so much!

  40. Yessssss... Da da da da da da, you know... Green Day sounding like Green Day

  41. That is so sweet! I almost cried. 😅 Billie is just the most genuine, caring, good hearted person and it's so wonderful to here about that from so many places. That's such a rarity in his field and it's so special that he, and the rest of the band, are like that.
    2 points
  42. I think it might have been Billie Joe. Hope he’s not… oh… hold on!

  43. Love this too but I have to say I am a fan of older Billie...he has matured in a softer way that I adore.

  44. I want something exciting to happen soon. I hope the songs are amazing and meaningful. The Trilogy was great. Rev Rad was great. I hope it’s different than anything they’ve ever done but with songs like a lot Trilogy and Rev Rad songs are as in they mean a lot to a lot of people. I want to feel something. I liked Graffitia and Meet Me on the Roof and the whole record pretty much but I didn’t really connect to much of FOAM as much as I connected to a lot of the Trilogy and most of Rev Rad and then the Longshot. I don’t care who the producer is. They will pick someone great. I hope the songs are amazing. They are very capable of writing amazing songs. Green Day write the best songs. And I hope it’s not a short record but not a longer record just for the sake of a longer record with lots of filler.

  45. He told me to fuck off before FOAM when I made a comment about what I hoped the record would be (to be fair - prob not my place to say that to him, but it was pretty direct 😂)

  46. I think Billie hires him as someone who is even worse at dealing with the public opinion/clap screapegoat
