  1. A decision that can lead to killing others who haven't been vaccinated yet or can't be. That prolongs a global pandemic that is killing people and destroying jobs and industries. And a decision based on believing anti science and conspiracy theory bullshit. Ignorance and selfishness doesn't deserve to be respected. Let me guess, no one you love has died from covid? Because there's other factors besides masks. Imagine believing uneducated politicians and media personalities or your own uneducated hunches in a field you have no expertise in over scientists and doctors.

  2. Yes you can choose to be selfish and favour anti science conspiracy theories over science. And others can choose to point that out or correct incorrect claims. The only people who don't want to be vaccinated here are dumbass Tories who base their medical decisions on their politcal affiliation and/or conspiracy theories like so many in the US, thankfully I don't know many of them. Everyone in my family is certainly grateful to be vaccinated after losing my uncle before the vaccines were available I would prefer not to go to a show with a mask because I do find them unpleasant when doing strenuous activity (eg standing/dancing/sweating in a pit for many hours). But going without one would be much worse. I wouldn't want to risk going to a show with or without one while we're still at a point where they're needed. So I would simply not buy tickets for a show yet, or would have got a refund (since when I bought the tickets a pandemic and masks weren't a thing yet). I wouldn't be a selfish ass.

  4. Thanks. The thing is my decision doesn't negatively affect other people, whereas yours potentially does. No one is stopping you doing what you want but if you choose to post things in this thread people can have an opinion on it or point out incorrect info.

  5. You've got to be kidding. Mask wearing for mitigation of COVID spread is now one of the most well-studied and data proven medical topics out there since the pandemic started. I could list 10 solid studies right here, and that would only be the beginning. Where are you getting your information on this? As far as your other point, if you look at graphs, spikes consistently occur when people loosen up and stop wearing masks, then go down again when everyone realizes there's an uptick and starts wearing them again. The spike you're speaking of would have been much worse without masks.

  7. This. I have heard loads of discussions since winter of people being amazed at how few coughs/colds etc we have all had and my daughter-in-law who is a doctor is in hysterics, she can't decided whether to laugh or cry and saying things like "WE TELL YOU NOT TO SNEEZE ON EACH OTHER" and "WASH YOU HANDS". So much of this is very, very simple!

  8. That's fair. 😅 Just not in public. I still think guys are generally bolder about doing disgusting things, whether in public or not. Just look at that smile.

  11. I don't know why people say "trust the doctors and scientists." You don't even need to. Go pick up an Intro to Biology textbook from the last 60 years and it'll have all you need to know about viruses and vaccines.

  12. I'm honestly staggered by your ignorance on this when so much information is freely available. Nobody has ever claimed that masks alone can stop the virus, only that they're one of many things that can lower how much it's spread. You really aren't aware that there's other factors in play besides masks? I can't believe that. Listen to medical professionals not some right wing politicians with an agenda or a hunch you have. I don't know what else to tell you. Better than the same in show threads I guess? But yeah maybe this thread should be more focused specifically on covid/vaccine rules at Green Day shows? Arguing with someone in denial of science when the information to disprove their claims has been out there for over a year is pretty tiresome wherever it takes place but if it needs to it would be better off in the General Chat covid thread. @Cunt you're not going to win people over to start believing anti science so unless you have something to say about covid rules at GD shows I don't see much point in carrying on with this, it's just going to be everyone disagreeing with you ad nauseam.

  13. Correlation is not causation. Just because you notice a correlation between mask compliance and covid cases, does not mean that mask compliance is the cause for higher covid cases Mask wearing alone is not enough to stop the spread of the virus, especially when new deadlier variants of the virus arise. That's why there's other things that we've needed to do i.e. social distancing, lockdowns, vaccines. But masks work. They reduce the spread of the virus. If nobody wore a mask, the covid cases would've been higher than they were

  14. There is plenty of hard evidence. referencing a single place where the mask mandate didn’t reduce infection is not “hard evidence” masks limit the spread of droplets and therefore the spread of the disease. This has been shown internationally time and time again by scientists and epidemiologists. If you even think about it for 5 seconds it makes perfect sense. on Vaccines, someone not getting one is either 1)selfish 2) an idiotic conspiracy theory, or 3) a terrifyingly worrying mix of both

  16. I've really enjoyed watching the footage I've seen so far. A few thoughts: I'm pleased that 21 Guns and WMUWSE are back on the setlist, as is Brain Stew. I hope to hear them and Welcome to Paradise live for the 1st time next year. I've listened to Rock and Roll all Night and I really like their cover. I love the intro video before AI, but I've noticed from fan footage that those with side seats can only partially see it which is a shame.

  17. Btw, I'm pro-vaccine but not everyone is able to get the vaccine because of allergies, certain diseases etc. So I wouldn't say anything like "everyone who isn't getting a vaccine is selfish or an idiot". But because some people can't get the vaccine, it's important that everyone who is able to get it gets it so we can protect those who can't get it I'm absolutely not surprised that @Eric is an antivaxxer though. Masks have also been shown to work. Idk how people still think they don't at this point

  19. I have to admit I'm getting very worried about going. Mine will be the last show of the North American tour (I think) on September 6th. The way things are going now doesn't make me feel safe when I think about being around so many people who may or may not be fully vaccinated. I wonder if there will be an impact on the tour. Maybe I should just sell my tickets and hope GD comes back on a tour of their own soon. When do we think that might happen (or is it going to happen)?

  22. I'm not telling anyone what to be comfortable with, I wear a mask in public and at work for 8 hours a day, but you're standing in a sweaty pit crammed in like sardines and you're going to be jumping about and crashing in to others. I respect the decision to wear a mask in that environment, I know somethings better than nothing, but it kinda seems like trying to put a wildfire out with a water pistol in terms of effectiveness. That's not to say don't do it, not to say masks don't work, but you've got to be realistic.

  23. I think going up to a camera and picking your nose at it is objectively gross lol. But it's Green Day and they're supposed to be playfully gross and obnoxious sometimes so we love to see it. I see Billie is sexier and sassier than ever 🔥🔥🔥

  24. It's true. I remember reading an article in which younger men said they were in a state of shock when they figured that most women do indeed have body hair unless they shave it. While I'm convinced that it is totally fine for women to shave if they personally prefer less or no visible body hair on themselves, I thought that it was quite shocking what seems to be the norm when it comes to knowledge of female bodies. You'd think that certain assumptions about the female anatomy are only present in the male part of society but then you see teenage girls growing up hating their own bodies because they are led to believe that body hair, periods etc. are gross and something that they cannot even talk about in order to be accepted.

  25. There are numerous reasons for cases rising!! masks help reduce spread. This is scientifically proven with diseases all over the world, is backed up by worldwide epidemiologists and helps reduce infection spread due to the way this disease works! using an anecdotal example doesn’t prove anything!
    4 points
  26. Can you not understand the concept of multiple defenses? Masking, along with other measures, definitively makes a difference. There is really no arguing this as the data is so strong. Also the uptick in cases lags. You're not going to see another surge until well after masking and other precautions end. Not to mention that any significant decrease in cases happened after vaccinations were finally widely distributed, so it's correlational and not causational that it happened along with a decrease in masks.

  27. Nope! Billie's in good company. I have a feeling they both might slim down a little bit on this tour due to all of the physically strenuous, high energy shows, though.

  29. Even with a vaccine you can still spread covid and particularly the delta variant. the mask is not for you, it’s for others. it’s a piece of fabric. It won’t kill you to wear it for a few hours, the recommendation should be more than enough to show a little ounce cop on.

  30. I'd be so fucking embarrassed if I were a grown-ass adult who hasn't been vaccinated yet (in the USA).

  31. Being isolated from one another probably helped with that as well. It's a unique result that will probably never be the case again, but I appreciate the emphasis on staying clean and handwashing. COVID has at least given us permission to care for our bodies more. If I see some guy scratching his crotch then trying to shake my hand, I have a polite way to decline lol.

  34. They REDUCE THE SPREAD. Not one expert has ever said it stops it. Because masks dont STOP the virus. They reduce the risk of transmission. Also they dont work by themselves. Also quick search https://www.texastribune.org/2021/07/21/coronavirus-texas-vaccinated-deaths/ 9000 dead in 6 months.....ya how that no mask mandate work out? Probably because Delta is far more contagious. This is all very easy to find. Your weird fixation on masks alone proves absolutely nothing by the way

  36. You’re fixated on one anecdotal result. Without looking at social distancing, general mixing, prevalence of the variant in society etc etc. You’re literally mixing up correlation and causation. when world wide mask wearing is shown to reduce case volume.

  37. I just don't see a point in carrying on with this. People aren't going to agree with you and this barely relates to Green Day shows at this point. There's going to be whatever vaccine and mask rules the band/venues decide on regardless.

  45. Haha, I see Naughty Bille has returned! It looks like his red hankie is a tail when he shakes his ass. 😂 But, where is the eyeliner??!! 🥺

  46. True. This is still a high risk environment of possible severe illness or death for the unvaccinated and a substantial risk of at least some transmission for the vaccinated. But covid is also gonna be with us for the long term, and if the best we can hope for are vaccines, masks and a possible mild case of the virus, I think it’s time to live with those risks and take our chances and get our lives back for the sake of our mental well being (as long as everyone does what they can to take those necessary measures)
