  1. I would have love to see them play Back In The USA. On another era maybe.

  2. Multiple vaccines are widely available. People can wear masks. COVID-19 is likely going to be staying with us for a very long time. We cannot be shut down forever. This isn't me siding with idiot Republicans who have wanted to do absolutely nothing about the virus since it started spreading (I'm very pro-mask and pro-vaccine and the lockdowns were needed at the beginning even if we in the USA handled them kind of stupidly by not doing what European countries and Canada were doing and paying people monthly to stay home but I digress), but holy fuck. Let folks have fun, Facebook comments.

  3. I love the intro video for this tour. Bringing back all of the different logos they’ve had over their career, the awesome as f*ck bunny, skulls from 21CB. Excellent and definitely a crowd hype moment. I wish Rev Rad had one…

  4. This. The energy he has as a performer makes up for any forgotten lyrics.

  5. Oh look! Perry Miller decided to join the party! 😂 but did he use a coaster? 🤪

  6. I think people are losing their patience over inconveniencing themselves for people who choose not to get a vaccine. At this point it's a choice.

  7. They were never gunna play deep cuts on a tour like this and anyone who is complaining about the fact they aren't is delusional. This was always going to be like this and to be honest, I think they've got a great set. It's open to a few switches as the tour goes on, I'm just a bit surprised that there's nothing from Father of All on there at all.

  8. How confident are we that they will do a smaller, exclusively Green Day tour any time soon after this? I'm getting more and more worried about my show. I've got a pit ticket because I've never seen a GD concert from the pit, but maybe it was a bad idea to do this as my first GD pit show. I can mildly enjoy Weezer and FOB, but I really am not looking forward to sitting through their sets before GD. I have chronic back pain that I haven't been able to find a solution to for like two years now and I'm scared the length of the show is going to be really really bad for it since I will have to stand the whole time. Maybe I should just sell my ticket and try to find a seat? I'm just concerned that there won't be any good ones left except for ridiculously outrageous prices.

  11. Billie mentioned once he might need one at some point but I think it would be hard for him because he moves around too much when he performs. You don’t want to interfere with his ability to do that
    5 points
  12. Billie may forget his lyrics occasionally, but at least he hasn’t reached this level of forgetfulness (left side of pic peep the teleprompter for Patrick):

  13. I almost think it has to happen. We haven’t had a Green Day live album in a decade! Not sure if they do one, if it’ll be an Awesome as Fuck sort of thing with a song from different cities or just a recording from one show. I’d really hope Weezer and Fall Out Boy would be apart of it too. but maybe we get nothing at all 🤷‍♂️

  14. There's no vaccine or mask requirement for these shows. If you put upwards of 25,000 indoors then yeah you are likely to see it become a super spreader especially with cases and hospitalizations rising across the US due to the Delta variant. Obviously nobody has to attend this so people have to decide if it's worth the risk.

  15. This is literally almost as perfect of a set they could play with a timeslot that's nearly half of what they normally play, you guys complain way too much. If I wanted to introduce somebody that had never heard Green Day to the band this is pretty similar to the playlist I would put together to show them

  16. Despite my comments on here I honestly don’t want to shit on the band at every opportunity, I just genuinely think they know FOAM isn’t their best work, they know that outside of this forum it was received poorly and that they’re playing to casual fans. They have 90 minutes, I imagine they’d rather play 21 Guns with a full band and get a great reception rather than play something nobody aside from the people at the barrier really wants to hear.

  17. Not sure if this was a reply to me or not, but obviously no people won't leave because they played Scattered. However, it would probably kill a fair bit of the momentum if half the crowd doesn't know the song. It's a sad reality of being a fan of a big band, especially if they're on a big corporate style tour like this one. It just boils down to the context of the set, why would you play a cool old song that 10% of people there will go bananas to when you can play a hit that everyone will get off their seat to? I'm not saying I like it, but it's the way it is. I'm a massive Foo Fighters fan and travel abroad to see them, they tend to drop in an oldie near the end of the set and aside from us on the barrier freaking out, nobody cares. The crowd goes from singing along and being amazed by Dave to thinking "when are they gonna play Everlong?". It's a cool thing to do for hardcore fans, if it was a solely Green Day tour I'd be disappointed as well, but the realities of putting on a stadium show mean it's not really an attractive thing for the band to do.

  18. Billie Joe is so hot he doesn’t need a coaster. Also. Omg what is with Tré especially lately? He’s in the running for a jacked hotness mega trophy. And his very special bright personality is really shining and is beyond amazing right now. Just what we needed. Feels like everything’s going to be alright.

  20. Wow wow wow wow! Billie looks incredible! I'm so happy for all of them to be playing again! Looks like they were having the time of their lives (or a blast, if you prefer).

  22. schroomcustomguitarworks Opening song of Hella Mega Tour Dallas Tx. American Idiot. It’s so cool to see your work on stage with Billie Joe Armstrong and GreenDay no less, I love it! I think some of my DNA is on that guitar, lol, gross! #hellameagatour #billiejoearmstrong #greenday #schroomcustomguitarworks https://www.instagram.com/p/CRw5HMgsdGL/ kevintylerpreston Last night was epic! That stadium was full of pure joy. I still have goosebumps. https://www.instagram.com/p/CRxOU_wtW_O/

  23. I’m curious how many new fans this tour will convert. People might not realize how many hits and great songs they have until they see this show. This is a good way to experience GD for the first time. A club set where you don’t know half the songs would be alienating. And keeping Knowledge is a good move since it’s one of their special things to let a fan play the song and give them the guitar. You can’t not fall in love with a band that does that. No other band brought fans onstage that night.

  24. It's not even greatest hits; it's Dookie and AI. The idea that casual fans would lose interest if they put in a deep cut is silly. It's a concert. People won't leave if they throw in Sugar Youth or Scattered.

  25. They should play bang bang instead of Rock and Roll all night.

  26. I saw a short video (I think GD or someone within the crew) posted of fans entering the stadium and it looked very orderly. I would imagine for these stadiums that the floor ticket lines are marked for queuing, but I honestly don't know. If you have instagram, you cold try messaging punk_relief or mandy_rose, as they had pit tickets and queued.

  27. I haven’t seen Brain Stew live and it might be nice to see Pollyanna so maybe I will buy a ticket after all. Here’s hoping I get lucky like last time and a pit ticket in DC opens up.

  30. Thank you! Their mom even went to extra mile and said she's pay the amount of the fees back to me (and the amount of the fees from when I bought them if they sell for a bit less, since the fees added up to like $70 or more). I understand the concern completely. It just sucks that it's THIS tour that I have to do this with... I've seen Green Day before, but I really want to see Weezer when they're still performing stuff from OK Human and Van Weezer, since they'll probably discard those songs next album cycle anyway. And I want to hear FOB's pre-hiatus stuff, especially since they're playing Sixteen Candles for the first time in years and that's one of my favorites...

  31. I mean…at this point I don’t know what else you can do. That ballpark was at full capacity in April for the Rangers home opener, so…no event is ever going to be 100% virus-free ever again. Kind of a risk with whatever you choose to do nowadays.

  32. I know what they're trying to do with the KISS cover but it's such a cheesy dad rock song I don't feel like it works. They could definitely dump that for a deep cut. But I still think that a greatest hits set list is the only way to go with a tour like this.

  33. DINGDINGDING 21 Guns has been played less than 200 times and hasn't been played with a full band in 11 years, and WMUWSE has been played less than 300 times, with many of those being acoustic. First electric performance of that song (outside of Howard Stern) since 2014.

  34. Super pumped to see 21 Guns on the set as well as WMUWSE. I have yet to hear September Ends live and would very much like to hear it performed.

  35. To be totally fair, a lot of bands have prompters. Even Metallica use prompters

  36. You don't and won't know those numbers. They fired a scientist for reporting true covid data. So whatever they say the Covid numbers are, they are probably worse. Unlike the Motley /Lep tour that postponed til 2022, GD felt safe enough to proceed. Hopefully all involved are safe.

  39. A setlist with full-band performances of 21 Guns + WMUWSE and Still Breathing is all I'd ask for. Hoping they'll keep these for the entire tour. I understand the frustration for the lack of deep cuts but I think this is the best setlist they could come up with given the context of this tour. I'd obviously scrap that cover though.

  40. This whole Hella Mega tour could turn out to be a really astute move if they manage to introduce a whole load of really casual GD fans who are there for Weezer and FoB to their music. If they were to tour again with a new album in the near future they could get bigger crowds again, who know.

  42. No Trilogy or FOAM, not surprised. I was surprised that Bang Bang or Revolution Radio didn't make the cut! Great setlist for a greatest hits tour though, not necessarily overly heavy on AI and Dookie which is what I was concerned about.
    2 points
  43. The set list was about as good as you could hope for, for what is essentially a greatest hits tour. If it was a solo tour it would be a different story, but with fans of other bands in attendance who may not be GD fans you have to play the hits. Awesome to see 21 Guns played.

  44. LOL, I bitch for years about King For A Day always being played and now it’s not on the set and I’m bummed. 😂
