  1. This is literally almost as perfect of a set they could play with a timeslot that's nearly half of what they normally play, you guys complain way too much. If I wanted to introduce somebody that had never heard Green Day to the band this is pretty similar to the playlist I would put together to show them

  2. DINGDINGDING 21 Guns has been played less than 200 times and hasn't been played with a full band in 11 years, and WMUWSE has been played less than 300 times, with many of those being acoustic. First electric performance of that song (outside of Howard Stern) since 2014.

  3. They were never gunna play deep cuts on a tour like this and anyone who is complaining about the fact they aren't is delusional. This was always going to be like this and to be honest, I think they've got a great set. It's open to a few switches as the tour goes on, I'm just a bit surprised that there's nothing from Father of All on there at all.

  4. It's not even greatest hits; it's Dookie and AI. The idea that casual fans would lose interest if they put in a deep cut is silly. It's a concert. People won't leave if they throw in Sugar Youth or Scattered.

  5. They should play bang bang instead of Rock and Roll all night.

  6. Yeah I think they just love to get a great reaction from the crowd and they don't mind if that means playing hits instead of some more obscure tracks. They've actually pretty much always focused on their hits/stuck to a setlist of popular songs that's the same every night their whole career. I think they should throw one FOAM song in there though, makes it look like they don't have confidence in their work plus I'd like to see it!

  7. Also after being so invisible for so long, I'm just thrilled to see Billie looking happy.

  8. They only have so much time and so many amazing songs. People invest a lot into the ticket and plus there’s like 4 great bands on the bill and time restrictions. Makes the most sense and is the most fair with the set list the way it was for this show. It was pretty much absolutely perfect.

  9. This whole Hella Mega tour could turn out to be a really astute move if they manage to introduce a whole load of really casual GD fans who are there for Weezer and FoB to their music. If they were to tour again with a new album in the near future they could get bigger crowds again, who know.

  10. Good problem to have when you have too many hit songs to fit into a set. The crowd loved it. And can we talk about how happy Billie was? And as rushed as they were, they still took the time out to bring two fans on stage and give away a guitar.

  11. A setlist with full-band performances of 21 Guns + WMUWSE and Still Breathing is all I'd ask for. Hoping they'll keep these for the entire tour. I understand the frustration for the lack of deep cuts but I think this is the best setlist they could come up with given the context of this tour. I'd obviously scrap that cover though.

  12. Despite my comments on here I honestly don’t want to shit on the band at every opportunity, I just genuinely think they know FOAM isn’t their best work, they know that outside of this forum it was received poorly and that they’re playing to casual fans. They have 90 minutes, I imagine they’d rather play 21 Guns with a full band and get a great reception rather than play something nobody aside from the people at the barrier really wants to hear.

  14. Multiple vaccines are widely available. People can wear masks. COVID-19 is likely going to be staying with us for a very long time. We cannot be shut down forever. This isn't me siding with idiot Republicans who have wanted to do absolutely nothing about the virus since it started spreading (I'm very pro-mask and pro-vaccine and the lockdowns were needed at the beginning even if we in the USA handled them kind of stupidly by not doing what European countries and Canada were doing and paying people monthly to stay home but I digress), but holy fuck. Let folks have fun, Facebook comments.

  15. I’m curious how many new fans this tour will convert. People might not realize how many hits and great songs they have until they see this show. This is a good way to experience GD for the first time. A club set where you don’t know half the songs would be alienating. And keeping Knowledge is a good move since it’s one of their special things to let a fan play the song and give them the guitar. You can’t not fall in love with a band that does that. No other band brought fans onstage that night.

  16. After watching this show, and remembering the show I went to at the Oakland Coliseum in 2017, there was so much more energy then. I did not feel it with this, seemed rushed and not much engaging with the crowd. IMO. I don't feel that I am missing anything not going in Aug when they play in San Francisco. The setlist now, I hope they tweek it and add something from Foam, maybe add from the trilogy too would love to see 2000 Light Years Away, Christie Road anything before Dookie. I did like that they did 21 Guns tonight, I have always loved that song, Billie Joe did it acoustic in Oakland and sounded great then. Anyway, I am just waiting for a Green Day tour in the arenas again. I just don't care for Weezer or Fallout Boy. For all those going, I hope you have a great time.

  17. I like the KISS cover too because it's a new cover for them and a classic stadium anthem so perfect for this kind of show. It's a lot of fun live.

  18. Also, what are we DOING with the Kiss cover? Really my only complaint. Give me Father of All instead, please?

  19. LOL, I bitch for years about King For A Day always being played and now it’s not on the set and I’m bummed. 😂

  20. Super pumped to see 21 Guns on the set as well as WMUWSE. I have yet to hear September Ends live and would very much like to hear it performed.

  21. I don't know the answer to that but I know someone asked Jason White to sign a record once and he signed it "ebay"!

  22. I struggle to believe any band would put out a troll album and I would love to see them play FOAM songs, this just isn’t the tour.

  24. They could easily throw a three minute bone to the die hards by playing Pasalaqua ,At the library etc and it wouldn't do anything to the momentum of the show. I realize that maybe ten percent (?) of the audience knows or cares about a song like that but still. Oh well, hopefully next year they do their own tour again.

  25. Honestly I'm glad that they cut KFAD. Only that song takes about 13, 15 minutes? I hope in the next tour for real fans they put instead a couple of bangers!

  26. Yeah, that's our happy boy I am looking so forward to seeing!

  27. I'm happy that both WMUWSE and 21 Guns are back in full band performance. I haven't heard the Kiss cover yet, so can't pass judgement on whether it should be on the setlist. I liked the graphics on the big screens & Mike having a camera on his guitar at the start of Longview. Overall, I'm happy with what I've seen from last night and I've got my fingers crossed that my HM show happens next year.

  28. The set list was about as good as you could hope for, for what is essentially a greatest hits tour. If it was a solo tour it would be a different story, but with fans of other bands in attendance who may not be GD fans you have to play the hits. Awesome to see 21 Guns played.

  31. I know what they're trying to do with the KISS cover but it's such a cheesy dad rock song I don't feel like it works. They could definitely dump that for a deep cut. But I still think that a greatest hits set list is the only way to go with a tour like this.

  32. Don't know whether I'm supposed to laugh or fangirl at the end of St Jimmy, so I think I'll do both From 0:30-

  33. No Trilogy or FOAM, not surprised. I was surprised that Bang Bang or Revolution Radio didn't make the cut! Great setlist for a greatest hits tour though, not necessarily overly heavy on AI and Dookie which is what I was concerned about.
    4 points
  34. A tight 90ish minutes, no filler, no KFAD could do with some more deep cuts, but that’s as good a set list as we could have wanted from this tour!

  35. Any clips of 21 Guns? I'm really interested how almost 50 Billie Joe sings it, considering it wasn't easy song to sing back in 2010 either.
    4 points
  36. I’m kinda happy about the KISS cover because I’m bringing my mom to her first Green Day concert and KISS is one of her favorite bands lol Also I’m glad KFAD isn’t on the setlist since it takes up so much time when they could play other songs and I've already seen them play It 6 times.

  37. Especially in a shortened show where a lot of the crowd are not hard core GD fans. That would be the last situation that they would bring out the deep cuts for.

  39. And then you see these excited kids saying “I’ve been a hardcore Green Day fan since 2019!” Like that’s a long time… ❤️ so good ❤️ a band that keeps their appeal and keeps things interesting ❤️ I love Green Day so much! ❤️ lol 😆 but I do! ❤️ and they are greater than ever… how do they do that?? Also p.s. good looking and that part keeps getting better too… how do they do that?? They're amazing. Drinking from the fountain of youth and too much wine driving the guy with the great lyrical ability insane. Good stuff. I am biased as a Green Day forever fan but I would argue this tour is crossover city all across the board and I love it.

  42. Because there’s no real appetite for it? It’s a tour marketed at casual fans, they want to hear hits not songs off of FOAM. Thats a good setlist considering the circumstances. I’m also going to wait for a solo tour for a longer set but seeing 21 guns with a full band would be cool.

  43. Surprised St Jimmy’s still on the set list. It’s a quick one so that’s probably why, but could be replaced with Bang Bang. Or Let Yourself Go, for us trilogy fans.

  45. I want to hear those lesser played songs as much as the next hard core fan, but I think this is a good set list for this tour.

  46. I'm going to bed, guys. Wake me up if they play anything: A: that has been played less than 300 times in concert. B: From Trilogy or FOAM. I know they think they are SOOOOooo punk rock by not playing stuff from their best projects, but come on man. Trilogy and FOAM are the great. Yep, so far it's looking like a God's Favorite Band Promo Tour. Come on "The Saints Are Coming"! Anybody see Bono and the gang at side stage?
