  3. His humbleness and shyness make him way more attractive than other people. The fact that he's so mild mannered and thoughtful when interacting with people in a non-concert setting is very sweet. It's a powerful contrast to his overwhelming charisma and commanding energy when he's on stage. I agree with @jengd that it's almost like he's two Billies in one, and each version is just as wonderful in its own way. Who in their right mind can not be completely charmed by that sweet face?

  5. Missed out on the orange version of the 25th anniversary of Insomniac - but picked up the black vinyl version at a local record shop!

  6. Stumbled across this again, just love it, he’s a big star, all dressed up for this event, lots of people want to speak to him/meet him, but look at his body language at the end, he’s like a little boy, so sweet 🥰 https://www.instagram.com/p/B8Y8injBPX-/?igshid=yirr6e67z24t

  7. The Billie/Jason one is my favorite too but I like that we get both versions. I think it’s fun to hear how the changes between versions affect how different the final product sounds and feels. VERY fun interview. I knew they recorded all their shows. Glad the host brought up doing something like the Fugazi live series, I’ve always wanted something like that for GD

  8. I know right. Not only did we see the London FBHT show getting professionally recorded (never to see a second of it), but when I went to see Prima Donna a year later Kevin told me they'd all watched it Interview was great! Love Jason

  9. Yeah kills me to think how many professionally recorded full shows they have in their archives.

  10. The "official" thing was always a bit annoying. During the Uno Dos Tre era people started saying he was "announced as an official member" etc but that never happened, all that happened was he played on the albums and got credited for it and was in some photoshoots and interviews. As far as I'm aware no one in the band ever used the phrase "official member" or made a big thing of it, it was much more low key than that. He's in the band either way (whether just as a live member or also contributing to albums/appearing in some interviews) and it seems more like he's just been involved more or less based on what worked for him and them at the time, rather than it being a "you're an official member now"/"you're not an official member now" thing.

  11. Spitboy has collected its complete discography into a new compilation, Body of Work (1990-1995), which will come out on June 25th. The compilation is now available for preorder, and, true to their mission three decades ago, 100% of the proceeds from the compilation will benefit the National Women’s Law Center. In addition to a full accounting of Spitboy’s music, the record contains new liner notes by writer Vique Simba and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, who witnessed some of Spitboy’s earliest shows. Here, exclusively, are Armstrong’s full liner notes from Body of Work (1990 – 1995), which perfectly capture the pioneering punks’ spirit. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/spitboy-billie-joe-armstrong-liner-notes-1151353/

  12. I watched Broadway Idiot for the first time last night. I've seen pictures of Billie playing St. Jimmy, but seeing his actual performance is just 😍 So sexy. Wish I could've seen it in person!

  13. Billie did refer to putting Jason in as the 4th in the Guitar World issue

  14. Yea - totally get that - it's weird that they didn't tell anyone. I had ordered the No Fun Mondays LP from UK and an email was sent saying that shipping had been delayed, so really just going off of that. Most of the other LPs I've ordered in the last year (too many for my own good...) have been coming in fine with a few exceptions. Just trying to keep some positivity with something to look forward to.

  15. hell yeah!! stoked to see this mentioned here because the label I work for is doing this reissue!!!! order a copy and I'll more than likely be the one shipping it to you 😉 https://www.dongiovannirecords.com/products/698205-spitboy-body-of-work-1990-1995

  16. maybe.. likely the CDs, yeah. those are easy. but vinyl manufacturing is still totally fucked right now. the bottlenecking in production got really bad last year, so it's very well within the realm of possibility that we might not get the LPs for a minute yet...

  17. I don't think it will, but in the case that it does, it looks like I'm not going to be able to attend regardless. The show is 2 days before I (maybe, depending on Covid) have to run a big charity golf tournament for the company I current work for (if I'm still there this summer, that is...), so I don't see them approving time off right before that happens, lol. Honestly crossing my fingers for a postponement to 2022. I still want this show to happen but I feel very sketchy about it going ahead this year. Especially considering Ontario is now in a stay at home order -- are we really going to allow a show with 50k people 3 months after a stay at home order was issued? I don't think so.

  20. Oh yeah he definitely wasn't shy . I think it used to be more of a silly/shocking thing though. The kind of "sexy tease" thing he does sometimes now is a bit different.

  21. I think what you guys are saying is true and his confidence has grown over the years, quite common I think given how young he was starting out. However, I feel he is almost two different Billie’s, the private one and the on stage persona. I love his sexy teasing on stage but I also love his self-deprecating side too, I like that he never comes over as arrogant. He should be taking care of himself too, better than he used to, and I love the contrast between business Billie and off duty Billie, full hobo aside 😂😂 I don’t like the weird body buildings look but I Iike Billie’s trim, naturally muscled physique very much. 😍😍

  22. Oh he definitely knows how attractive he is now He's all like "lil ol me? You think I'm cute? Pshaw" and then post a shirtless selfie that he KNOWS the fangirls will salivate over.
    1 point
  23. Yes, I agree it seems he's become more confident over the years and that's attractive itself. But even back when this interview came out, he wasn't particularly shy, since this was the era when King For A Day was introduced

  24. I feel like these days he's a little bit more aware that he's attractive, even though he would still be modest about it. Ever since the American Idiot era "makeover", rocking the eyeliner and floofy hair and fancy outfits etc I mean, and he even has his teeth fixed now. Seems like he takes more pride in his appearance and is more confident about it with age. You can see it in his showmanship on stage, definitely sexy and he knows it the way he teases the crowd at times (although of course it's done with a good sense of humour and not arrogantly).

  26. I saw some scans of an old interview yesterday where Billie said he feels ugly most of the time and idk I guess seeing this 500 page thread made me think of it again. Seems the public opinion is way different

  27. Same here, I’ll take a tattooed rock god any day over muscled lunks

  32. And On The Ave duet with Billie Joe, awesome!
    1 point
  33. Yeah, me too. Sounds like a broken record to say we miss him, but it continues to be true and will be so every day (at least for me). That's just an inevitability when someone you care a lot about is absent.

  34. That could have been part of it but I tend to go with the simplest explanation which is consistent with what Jason said and what they expressed in Cuatro! and that was that they wanted the songs to have a live in studio feel and so they wanted to have bigger guitar sounds and two guitarists. If you contribute ideas in the studio and are not just a session player you deserve to be considered a full member. Of course they could have used Jason on the record and not made him a member, that part could have been Billie just thinking Jason had put the time in and deserved it by then. I’m wondering if Jason ever officially decided not to continue in the capacity after that tour or if it just quietly went back to a threesome when they got together to record RevRad.

  35. I'm not an expert on his stuff but he's in Pinhead Gunpowder and that's all awesome. I particularly like these two songs which he wrote and sang lead on: Maybe you already know this and mean other stuff not involving Billie though haha. From what I remember both Influents albums were good

  36. California plans on reopening everything on June 15. So not sure how that plays out for stadium type shows, but indoor shows at the clubs hopefully are going to happen again. Maybe we can get some club shows with Green Day around here in the bay area. I am sure that outdoor events will happen again, but still hearing only about 65% capacity. If all vaccinated, then it was reported that everyone can attend without restrictions on seating and standing on the floor for the shows. It would have to be a special section for the vaccinated and others would show a covid negative test but be restricted on where they can sit and still have only sit in pods. "When California reaches that threshold, large-scale indoor events, such as conventions, will be allowed to occur with testing or vaccination verification requirements."

  38. ...I’ll just pretend I didn’t read that Spitboy are really great. Jason White also dated Michelle back in the 90’s. I can see why they wouldn’t appeal to the average Green Day fan, but if you like punk, they’re worth checking out.

  39. That was so good! Learned a lot I didn't know like how he played with Monsula, founded Fluke fanzine and was basically the only employee running Adeline Records for its first six years. He's right about having the best of everything by not being an official member of the band. He may not make their kind of money but he has his anonymity and none of the headaches they have.
