  2. Spitboy has collected its complete discography into a new compilation, Body of Work (1990-1995), which will come out on June 25th. The compilation is now available for preorder, and, true to their mission three decades ago, 100% of the proceeds from the compilation will benefit the National Women’s Law Center. In addition to a full accounting of Spitboy’s music, the record contains new liner notes by writer Vique Simba and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, who witnessed some of Spitboy’s earliest shows. Here, exclusively, are Armstrong’s full liner notes from Body of Work (1990 – 1995), which perfectly capture the pioneering punks’ spirit. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/spitboy-billie-joe-armstrong-liner-notes-1151353/

  3. I wouldn't agree with any time ever. There's a time for the smaller, more intimate projects (which are fucking amazing!), but there's also a time for a big ass Green Day show. I see where you're coming from, though. You do get an experience from the side acts that you would never get with Green Day. Still, I would miss the epicness and size of a Green Day concert if I never went to one again. There's just a special feeling to it that's difficult to describe. It's like this powerful force and a kind of energy that just transports you.

  5. That was so good! Learned a lot I didn't know like how he played with Monsula, founded Fluke fanzine and was basically the only employee running Adeline Records for its first six years. He's right about having the best of everything by not being an official member of the band. He may not make their kind of money but he has his anonymity and none of the headaches they have.

  6. It's understandable to miss him being on Instagram but it doesn't mean he's "given up" or anything that serious. He's never been that into social media and not wanting to be on it is a valid choice. Up until a few years ago this was the norm for Billie (he's only had his own social media accounts since 2011 - and hasn't always been active on them) and it's still normal that not everyone has them, celebrities included. It's not something he's doing against us, whether you feel like being on social media is a good thing for you or not is a personal thing. Also it might not even be permanent. Maybe at some point he'll feel like coming back. It's probably not enjoyable to have people harassig him about Joey on there so makes sense that he doesn't right now.

  7. I do agree. But I'd still swap it for a small side project show every time haha. If I'd never seen a big Green Day show before I'd want to at least once but now I already have that's my stance . I'm actually still so happy I got to see them once that I've viewed every time I've seen them after that as a bonus. Any size show and any band from them is great. But a Network tour would be particularly fun and awesome, especially as they've never done one before and especially with such amazing new material.

  8. I hope you’re not suggesting second mate Grohl distracted him? 😂😂😂

  10. Yeah true. Or he might simply just not feel like being on social media (whether just randomly, or he stopped because of something specific but then found he didn't miss it, or whatever). Doesn't even have to be for one particular reason or for strong reasons.

  11. ...I’ll just pretend I didn’t read that Spitboy are really great. Jason White also dated Michelle back in the 90’s. I can see why they wouldn’t appeal to the average Green Day fan, but if you like punk, they’re worth checking out.

  13. I feel like at least 100 million of the views on 21 Guns were probably me. I used to watch that music video literally every day. 😅

  14. I'm really itching for something from Green Day. I don't care if it's a song, a video, or what. Doesn't even have to be music related content. It's just been dead air since HCTS (aside from the occasional Mike or Tré post) and it would be so great to just have something from all of the boys that's basically any indication of "Yeah, we're still here. Pandemic still sucks, but we're hopeful for the near future and still excited to play again." I know they don't owe us that, but it would be so nice! Life and the world are still super depressing during a seemingly endless loop of tragic events, isolation, and longing for normalcy and I think it would just lift so many spirits for Green Day to throw us some form of little check in. I feel like it might be uplifting for them too. 🤷‍♀️

  15. Mike and Tré really need to tell Billie to come back. I want Billie to show at least some kind of interaction to get us excited for Green Day again. Especially if they are able to start playing some form of shows in the coming months like Tré is hopeful for. It's like he's disappeared off the face of the earth. It makes me so sad that he seems to have just given up and I miss that special connection with the fanbase so much.

  16. I have nothing valuable to add here other than right now I would rather see a Network tour of the new material than a Green Day tour.

  17. It seems I’ll most likely have lots of exams and a thesis defence all in the same week as the Green Day show would have been, so I guess the show not happening is one less thing to worry about. I would hate to miss out on Green Day because of having to get a stupid degree

  18. I'm so used to hoarding vacation time for concert-related trips that with even the slight possibility of Hella Mega happening, I feel guilty for using any right now in case I'd rather take more time off around the show. Or do something stupid and go see a second show or something. I get why they haven't yet, but I just wish they'd make some type of announcement already!

  21. My cousin worked for the major production company that was going to bring Green Day to the Philippines last March. If I'm not mistaken, it was the 2nd date on the Asia tour. It would have been the first time Green Day played Manila. We were told to refund our tickets late last year. Last week, Manila underwent it's 2nd wave. The surge saw 15000 new cases & rising. Edit: For those interested to know, My cousin's job was to provide water bottles for Brendon Urie during shows & make sandwiches for Axl Rose backstage. She loved + hated her job. 😝

  22. Got some good ones of Billie with the mic and Billie wearing hats. I think he's playing harmonica in the first one. Not a fan. He's still super beautiful, though!

  23. And even if they “allow” stadium gigs.. there isn’t a single major touring band who would transport equipment over just to do the UK

  24. To be fair I would rather see a Network, Foxboro Hot Tubs or Longshot tour than a Green Day tour at any time ever

  25. Restaurants/pubs/cinemas etc in the UK aren't even allowed to open (other than for outdoor stuff) until May 17th at the earliest. I get they want to try stuff out but I highly doubt stadium gigs will be happening the following month.
