Tango in A Minor

I started working on this tango, and I'm proud of it. It's a work-in-progress, but I'll share it anyways.

(Also, if you've got a better title, please suggest it. I like the simplicity of "Tango in A Minor", but I want something more creative).

Here.

Aside from shitty love songs, I actually make real music. This is always the stuff I'm most proud of.

If you actually read this shit, and you've got any questions, comments, suggestions, etc., go ahead and spill. I'll talk music with anyone.

This is really cool! Do you have a band to play with? This would be a fun piece to play in a band class.

Thanks.

Any orchestra director that's had me knows that I write music, and orchestras have played my pieces before (they forced me to conduct, and I hated every minute of it), but I'm much too shy to ask anyone to play this (and I don't want to conduct again. It's traumatic).

If I were to let anyone play this, I'd probably just do it myself.

Oh wow, I consider conducting somewhat close to magic

Ooh, nice. I'm a sucker for a sexy tango. If you're gonna change the title, make it something cringey.

I like the relationship between the string section and the guitar trio. Very well done.

I do suggest that you try and make that violin melody section in measures 42-56 sound more like a tango. I think the only way you could pull that off is if you add a small transition between sections.

The aforementioned transition between violin and viola melody is kind of stiff.

The viola melody part near the end is very nice. It continues the tango feel of the piece, and it's nice that you gave the viola the melody.

I like the use of the major and minor scale fragments as a way to shift back to A minor. The chromatic scales in the violin and bass section make it even better.

Even when they cause dissonance?

That's what fucks it up for me. I like the chromatic scales, but the dissonance is unnecessary and builds too much tension. Especially since it's just returning to the melody presented in the beginning.

Maybe I should make a variation of the original melody.
