I love all of the trilogy. The Green Day album that's actually hard to listen to in one go is 21CB. The really loud production doesn't help.

From that album I adore Christian's Inferno though.

No way in hell do I think the Trilogy should be rated better than SOSH.

I'm new here but whatevs... This is hard...So I might just put them in "tiers".

Gold Tier Albums :

1. Nimrod

2. American Idiot

3. Dookie

4. Insomniac

Silver Tier Albums :

5. ¡Tre!

6. Warning.

7. ¡Uno!

8. ¡Dos!

Bronze Tier Albums :

9. Kerplunk!

10. 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours

11. 21st Century Breakdown - just for how long and loud it is. If 21CB had the same audio as ¡Tre! it would be great. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is proof of this.

Loud? And if 21st had a clean tone as the trilogy the songs wouldn't work at all escp songs like the title track and EJN

Yes Loud as in the audio is clipped. As in distorted because they've turned the volume of the master tapes up so much.

It's most noticeable on East Jesus Nowhere when everyone is doing the stabs... E - G - E - D- E * a chug a chug a chug a * < - - -- The song distorts.

Mind you - it's nowhere near as bad as the last Metallica album. The entire CD is covered in white noise because they turned it up so much.

You're talking about brickwalled and 21st isn't really brickwalled it's supposed to sound loud and in your face

But check out the hdtrack edition you may like that mix better

Aside from Uno Dos and Tre being so low (and even there bonus points for putting Dos highest) and Warning being a bit too high and 21st CB being a bit too low not a bad list, reasonably similar to my own.

I actually enjoy dos a lot. It reminds me of their loud rock and roll selves. The instrumental in wow that's loud for example.

Shhh, I love Nightlife and I like Kill the DJ

Finally! I'm not alone! I love those songs! Also, I didn't mind the Trilogy. Yes, it wasn't the band's strongest work and they probably would've been better off doing one album, but I didn't hate it.

Dos is one of my favourite Green Day albums along with the rest of the trilogy and I have no shame.

My list would probably be something like:

1. 21st Century Breakdown

2. Dos

3. Nimrod

4. Uno

5. Tre

6. American Idiot

7. Warning

8. Insomniac

9. Dookie

10. 39/Smooth

11. Kerplunk

Like Graham I recognise that AI is a better album musically and lyrically than any of the trilogy albums or Nimrod, but I still prefer them to listen to. Similar to how you can be aware that a catchy pop song isn't that great musically, but still listen to it because it's catchy and you like or relate to it regardless.

3. 21st Century Breakdown

4. Nimrod

5. Insomniac

6. Warning

7. Kerplunk

8. Tre

9. 39/Smooth

10. Uno

11. Dos

I hate listing my top Green Day albums because first of all, I love most of their albums about the same. Second, I feel like American Idiot technically is the best, but I also think it's in a class of its own. Obviously, that album was far advanced than anything they made before so comparing that album to their previous stuff is a bit like comparing the first iPod nano to an iPod touch - still the same band and signature sound, but greatly updated and improved. Like someone else previously mentioned, being technically better doesn't necessarily mean I would favor it over their older works.

Guess I'll jump on the bandwagon of pointlessly subjective lists:

1. American idiot

2. Insomniac

3. Dookie

4. Kerplunk

5. Nimrod

6. Warning

7. 21st century breakdown

8. Tre

9. 39/ smooth

10. Dos

11. Uno

I like ¡Dos! but Nightlife is the worst song they've ever done in my opinion.

The version on ¡Cuatro! was so much better. It had more of a Clash vibe.
