Not sure this is the appropriate place to ask but there seems to be some minor suggestion around festival forums, news websites etc that Green Day will play one of the major UK festivals this summer, due to a few reasons;

- Lack of big name headliners/people touring

- Green Day not properly touring the UK last year for the album etc.

This got me thinking if you had to put money on one where does it go?

My money's on IOW or Download. Never done either, IOW especially always blow huge sums of money on 3 huge acts and then shitty filler the rest, plus they haven't done it before.

Download mainly because it kinda suits them and I can't see who Download will book this year that's a worldwide act and hasn't headlined recently.. Also because a number of other act's s look to be playing elsewhere. Foo's at Glasto, IE.

Green Day didn't tour half of the US or in a lot of other countries as well I don't see a long tour or even a short tour so far in 2015 (I hope I'm wrong tho)

they're not headlining anything until britt gets the all-clear. even after she does i doubt their first priority will be coming over here when they have millions of fans at home in the US whose shows were cancelled and never rescheduled.

I'm not a bad person lol but if you know my history you'd understand why I sometimes defend (and occasionally attack) things

They hate the US. Hence why BIAB was a UK show and AAF was a mixture of shows from across the globe.

They are from the US and still live in the US. Doubt they hate it.

biab was two uk shows because they were the band's largest shows to date. of 17 tracks on awesome as fuck, 7 were from US shows, in addition to all five bonus tracks being from US shows. you really think they hate the US? really?

TBH You've all got valid points however I do think if thing's are back in place, Mike's wife etc is given the all clear and the right opportunity comes a knocking they'll take it. Unlikely but if Glasto came a calling, I doubt they'd turn it down. Just to fulfill some US dates.

You'd think they'd turn down multiple dates they would get more money from to do ONE festival where they don't get their full amount?

TBH I'm not sure on the ins and out's of festival pay, but I think that point could easily be argued that they'd get the amount they'd get for playing an arena show. Also festivals like Glastonbury are iconic and for a lot of act's, there viewed as an accomplishment if you're asked to headline/play.

Also does money even matter anymore to them. It's not like there's only a small amount of it floating around in there bank's....

Well they do have crew to pay for managers to pay etc the less the band gets paid the crew and managers get the same pay they get lesser amount

Not saying they only care about the money but touring is a job and if they didn't completely care about money they'd just perform for free...

Also if they were to book a US tour they wouldn't cancel it to do Glas cause then they'd break contracts which could cost them millions of dollars to settle lawsuits etc

It would just depend on who books them first

Of course it matters - they were apparently the most expensive so far to book for Soundwave - they have a lot of staff.

Also thought ACDC were the front runners for Glastonbury - think GD at some stage will perform there but not next year.
