Trilogy Photography Contest

Recommended Posts

With the first leg of the 99 Revolutions tour coming to an end, we are either suffering from post concert depression or still anxiously awaiting a tour date. Since most of us already have the trilogy blasting out our speakers to help us cope, why not take it a step further and get creative at the same time with a Trilogy themed photography contest!

Description: Select any one of the 37 songs from the Trilogy and capture its theme in a single photographic image. Remember to think outside the box and use anything available to you in order to create the best image you can. The GDC mod team will decide on the top 40 entries to go through which will then be voted on by GDC members whom will be choosing the top 10. The winning entry will then be chosen by GDA visitors. Photographs will be judged based upon how well the theme is captured, originality, and image quality. All entries (whether selected or not) will be shown after a winner is confirmed

Deadline: August 2nd, 11:59pm Eastern time

Please email entries to gdavisitors@gmail.com and DO include the song title in the subject line.

A few basic rules:

  • One Entry per person
  • Photograph must have been taken by you, no plagiarism!
  • Entries must be safe for work, this means no nudity!
  • Please keep editing down to a minimum. There can be some modification but please don't insert things that weren't there etc...
  • Photograph should have been created for this contest.

Prize: Green Day bootleg/live CD OR Idiot Nation membership

If you win and choose a bootleg CD, these are your options (you can pick one)

  • Bowling Bowling Bowling Parking Parking
  • Foot In Mouth
  • Green Day Power
  • Green Day spitting
  • Teenage Rampage
  • Endless Headtrip
  • Radio Daze

Info about any of of the above can found on GreenDayDiscography.com

This is a very cool contest indeed! :)

Good luck to everyone who enters! I'm not sure if I will, I'm not good at photography like many of you, but if an idea surfaces I will try my best!

I'm guessing fuck time is out of the question :(

No it's not. There are ways to represent the song and it still be safe for work.

Blasting out my speakers right now cause I indeed am having trouble coping...

Anyway, that's a very cool idea! I'm way too unoriginal and bad at photography to give it a shot, but am wishing luck to everyone participating!

I think it's particularly awesome that we'll see all the submitted entries once the contest is done :)

"Bowling Bowling Bowling Parking Parking" and "Foot in Mouth" are Live EPs, not Bootlegs.

How safe for work is taking a picture of my dog shitting on the lawn at night to represent Nightlife?

"I WANNA CHOKE YOU TILL' YOU'RE BLUE IN THE FACE!"

I'll try to whoop something up.

Lady Cobra is such a dawg, I'd vote for that.

So no adding text or effects? Not crazy filters or anything, just like adding noise or a few words?

To anyone/everyone thinking of entering and doesn't think they are good at photography here's my story:

Last year there was a photography contest and, me, who doesn't own a camera and only a shitty phone camera, decided to take a picture and enter. Was it awesome? In my eyes. Was it perfect? Yes, in my eyes. Should it have won? Yes, of course. In my eyes.

But in truth it didn't even make the top 10 for judging. But you know what? I was so damn proud of myself for taking the picture and sending it in. Because, in my eyes, I was able to try something new. No I didn't win the prize but I won overall just by trying and entering.

So I challenge all of you to go forth and find your inner photographer and try!

The photography contest I won was taken with a point and shoot. I turned off the lights and used a mini flashlight for lighting. I know like nothing about photography. But I won. So you guys shouldn't worry if you're inexperienced or don't have a good camera. The content of the photograph, especially in this contest, matters most. And remember, most of the votes are coming from people who know nothing about photography, so they're not gonna even notice a lot of the things "wrong" with your picture.

Don't say you're not good at photographing! Just give it a shot & have fun ;)

I remember, I sent my entry for the Xmas contest on the last day & I still don't know how the hell it won.

Photography isn't about having a big camera or special equipment. Even if your photo really isn't great, the idea behind it might make it the best entry of all, or vice versa.

I'm a professional photographer and I didn't get into the top 10 with the last contest. But my mum who thinks I'm much better than her and took her photo on a crappy phone camera did. :)

One of the first things I was told when I started studying photography was "having a DSLR makes photography easier. It doesn't make you a good photographer."

So yeah, don't be put off!
