UNICORN VOMIT Posted March 5, 2015 Share Posted March 5, 2015 For me about 80% of the material on the albums was just half-assed. Lazy instrumentation and songwriting IMO. And I didn't like how they were like 40 year olds writing music teenagers could relate to. Uno: Highly unoriginal. Dos: Just awful all around. (With a few exceptions, of course) Tré: Actually, this album's not bad. First 8 songs are actually pretty damn good. Scratch that thought, most of the first 8 songs are REALLY fucking good. DRB and 99 Revolutions are too fucking overrated among the fanbase, though. Overall, I'd only say Lazy Bones, Rusty James, Amanda, Brutal Love, and Oh Love are the songs I'd call "great". I despise 21st Century Breakdown, but it's not nearly as half-assed as these albums. Horseshoes and Handgrenades and Murder City are fantastic. Only a small fraction of it for me is actually "great". Know Your Enemy and 21 Guns make me want to jump of a bridge. I couldn't believe what I was listening to when I first heard this album. I just happened to talk about two songs that I didn't like. I feel like with this album, unlike American Idiot, they wanted something to say rather than just having something to say. The story was hard as fuck to follow and I still never quite got it. Overall, many of the songs don't stand out to me. More than just KYE and 21 Guns. Song of the Century, Christian's Inferno, Last Night On Earth, Peacemaker, Viva La Gloria (Little Girl), The Static Age, and See the Light are all songs I just don't like or just don't stand out to me in any significant way. (I don't really consider Peacemaker to be bad, I just don't care for it.) It has its moments, I just get bored to tears every time I hear it.Oh, I forgot to talk about Restless Heart Syndrome.
