The key to my perfect show would be Timmy Chunks, touring guitar tech extraordinaire, sound checking Blue as they set up GD's stage at a festival sometime again. During the '98-'02 era he would stand center stage and punch away at random power chords at full volume while they furiously set up GD's equipment at festivals. During the shows I saw during this era (Warped, local radio festivals such as River Rave) this would seriously get the crowd even more fired up than the Pink Bunny does today. Long live Timmy Chunks and jamming on Blue before Green Day came out. It was awesome.

Yes, screen name bias noted.

OK, fine, sounds like a good plan to me. Timmy can soundcheck Blue in the open in a Pink Bunny suit then they can play this setlist. Pretty sure it would be awesome and heads would explode.

BTW, I made a "head exploding" comment after the record store performance in NY then went to Webster the next night and they played a ton of old awesome songs  (Ale, Stuart, Brat, Armatage, Lies, 409!!!, etc.) so here's hoping it works again.

My ideal Green Day setlist would look completely different of course but I tried to create one that is more realistic and similar to the setlists they're currently playing.
I just want them to drop their most annoying song ever (King For A Day) as well as their old "rarities" they always play (Burnout, Christie Road, Hitchin A Ride,...) and replace them with songs they don't usually play. They have an enormous catalogue and songs like Sassafras Roots, Worry Rock and Jackass are just examples and could be replaced by any other song obviously.
I know other people want them to drop Jesus of Suburbia but this song is just too good to be dropped. Minority shouldn't be extended that much though.

In addition, I hate their acoustic encore, shows should end with a banger, therefore Going To Pasalacqua seems to be a good choice just like in Sacramento 2009.
As I said, this is not my dream setlist since there are still too many singles in it but you can't drop them all. But I don't see any problem with replacing some regular old songs with other ones. I don't really like their structure anymore but it's too complicated to create a structure since there are lots of things you have to consider.

1. Bang Bang
2. Revolution Radio
3. Know Your Enemy
4. Holiday
5. Letterbomb
6. Boulevard of Broken Dreams

20.   Teenagers From Mars

21.   Homecoming

22.   St. JImmy

23.   Die, Die My Darling (stage implodes as the song ends, supposedly killing everyone)

Mike and Tre vocals galore.  In fact, for this show Billie let's Jason sing in his place up until "The Saints are Coming".    Billie has saved all his energy up and goes insane doing stage dives, back flips and crowd surfing.  He runs out and starts making out with people in the crowd.

During American Idiot Billie hunkers down in the middle of the crowd and the rest of the band follows shortly after.  They continue an extended Idiot breakdown as the crew moves some gear down into the crowd.  Lots of fans help out too, and the main set comes to an epic end.      The crowd starts chanting as they rip into a crazy epic rendition of the classic misfits tune and barrel through the greatest live performance of Homecoming to ever occur right in the middle of the pit.    They move back onto the stage as Homecoming comes to a riproaring finally and don't even take a breathe as Billie Joe rips off all but his boxers and plays a devil-psycho-speed demon version of St. Jimmy, with such violence and furacity that people's heads are exploding in the crowd.   Jason White's guitar bursts into flames and he becomes an official member by default.     The stage is falling apart from all the insanity and as the fire trucks and police begin to arrive to shut the thing down, Green Day play an even fiercer "Die, Die My Darling" as the stage collapses and burns to the ground.

As people are leaving covered in blood and horrified that Green Day are dead, the four band mates walk by waving as they head for the limo.

I'm curious, how many of you guys would do away with Good Riddance as the closer, and what would you have replace it on a permanent basis? (I'm personally very happy with it, for the record)

I actually do like that as a closer, but for the sake of variety, i think songs like Ordinary World, Macys Day Parade, and especially Last Night on Earth should have chances as closing songs.

If there's another song that I would like to hear as a closer it would be Minority. But of course without the Introducing the band part. Recently I wondered what it would be like if they played When I Come Around as the opener , because I love how almost everybody in the audience starts jumping and all the energy gets out. Personally, I think 21st CB was really good one, too.

Honestly my only wish is that they play Jesus of Suburbia. That's my all time favorite song. They could just have a 9 minute show with that one song and I'd be happy with it.
