Paper Bullets was silly and amusing but not sure it's ready for NYC yet. Some odd script and joke choices. Billie Joe's music is fun tho.

Unfortunately I am going on saturday.  I'm not going to hold my breath that billie will be there for a week of previews.  This theater fits about 100 people so if he is there, you can be confident that I will shove it in the face of every gdc'er.

I didn't meet Billie and his friend.    But, if anyone is questioning if Billie can still write a song, they need to see this show.

People were asking about Dreamcatcher.  It really isn't in the show.  They talk about it as a new Quatro single and play a snippet but you really don't hear it until the encore.  It is not played live, it is recorded.  Honestly, it is the worst song in the play by far.

I thought this was odd but they do not list the names of the songs.  There were two songs that really stood out.  The first ended the first act.  If I had to guess a name I would say You Broke My Heart.  It was, of course, very Beatles-esque but with a modern punk anger added to it.  The second was a love song which I will call Irresponsibly Yours.  It started out as a ballad but built up to something faster like the way WMUWSE and RHS does.  Overall the songs were fun, lively with great lyrics.  The whole audience could not help but tap their toes. 

Overall the play was funny and entertaining.  It had alot of slapstick moments that fit in perfectly with the timeframe.  There were alot of sex jokes, but again that was timeframe appropriate.  I had my daughters with me and I didn't cringe at any of the jokes so I would say they were done well.

I have one major and one minor criticism of the show.  We were in the front row and the actors smoked like chimneys.  I know it is timeframe appropriate for them to smoke but I felt like choking at times.  They really should have cut it down or used e cigs.

My minor complaint is that the dialogue switched between iambic penta minor and modern speech.  It sometimes became a bit hard to follow.

One interesting thing is that the playbill said that Rolin Jones has completed the script for the movie version of American Idiot.

I'm not saying this for my love of Billie (remember #1 Billie fan) but the star of this show was really the score.  If the next GD album has the same quality standards of the score of this show, GDC will be a happy place

I really hope a soundtrack will eventually be released for this. Though as much as I'd like to hear them as they are in the show, my inner fangirl will also be disappointed if it doesn't include the Billie versions of the songs
