Has anyone else noticed that Green Day's PR team has finally joined the 21st century? They've got someone managing the Twitter account and updating it daily, they just announced an official Green Day Instagram, the new site is seriously awesome, and there's been more Facebook activity.

It's almost as if the band's frontman has come back from a long stint on the sidelines and they're ready to begin promotion and touring properly again.

I know, right?
but seriously, I don't ever remember their social media outlets being this active, even during the original promotion for Uno.

I think the Instagram account isn't legit. It appears that their twitter accound has been hacked.

Why do you think the Instagram account isn't real?

There have been weird messages on their twitter account in the past few day (they were deleted after). And as jumpsalty said, the tweets regarding the instagram account were deleted as well.

All the retweets of @GreenDayFans makes me cringe. Especially the one about "gay fans" yesterday. I have nothing against gays, but what the fuck?
And this morning, THREE tweets about a (probably) fake instagram account.

At least they aren't dealing with something on the scale of what Burger King dealt with last week ![]()
"Green Day has flopped. They're being taken over by Blink-182."

Sent an email to a person in the know to get some clarification.

"Green Day has flopped. They're being taken over by Blink-182."
But the BK thing was awesome and wasn't trying to be weird or promote fake accounts to get followers.

Okay, now I'm legitimately confused. It seems like they have legit tweets (like promos for Billie's RS interview) intermingled with very weird tweets.

Yes, the twitter account has been hacked lately and the Instagram account is fake. Just got it confirmed.
Thanks!

Dammit. I knew the increased media presence was too good to be true. X'D

Why do Warner love that account so much? It stopped posting for 2 years then it's suddenly loved again, yet GDA has been going over 10 years non-stop, mentioned by the band various times and they don't acknowledge it?
Some things I will never understand.

The account was hacked, I'd say that accounts for all it's odd behaviour of late, including quoting random fan accounts

Oops, I meant to say @GreenDayFans. I had mentioned it but deleted that part out of the post and forgot to replace it.
But that seemed like it was legitimate as the WarnersPromo account mentioned it too.

Also the instagram seems fishy because you would think they would set that up when the guys set up their own ones. Why would they do it later on?

Yeah, okay, now after two legit tweets we get shout-outs to random accounts.... I take back my improving opinion of Green Day's PR team and I'm wondering why they haven't suspended the account to work out the kinks.
