I agree with you guys for the most part. I enjoy when rock/pop punk and rap/hip hop collide though - then you get bands like 21 Pilots and songs like The Mighty Fall (though it's not one of my faves). Lots of the songs on Save R&R were catchy and cool imo, but the only one I really loved was Death Valley cause it wasn't as pop-ish. I really enjoyed Pax Am Days, their little EP or whatever, cause all the songs had a Death Valley kind of feel to them.
In general I also like it when genres collide (there is a German band that I really like, that has a unique style, which is according to the German Wikipedia Rap-Rock,Indie-Rock,Punk-Rock and Garage Rock*) but for some reason I just don't really like it on the new FOB record
