This perked my interest as Foo Fighters had been tweeting little teaser updates about something special happening in New York, and this was only announced hours ago. Organizers are claiming this will be the biggest concert ever, because of the artists involved and the use of live streaming to gain a massive worldwide audience.

Proceeds going to the Hurricane Sandy relief fund.

Love this sort of thing. I'll be up writing an essay tonight so will probably get to catch it on YouTube!

There was another thread created with rumours that GD are playing this. I haven't heard anything like that, but does a mod care to merge the 2 threads?

I'm going out to a trad music session tonight but hopefully it's still on by the time I get back.

It's suppose to run from 7pm - midnight EST.

Haven't heard about Green Day, but definitely Roger Waters has been mentioned as have The Who.

Should be quite a great show.  Springsteen is the "opening act," btw!!!!!

Springsteen opening and McCartney closing is as epic as it gets. I don't care about the middle bits.

This except I want to see whatever Dave Grohl does too.

Drumming for Macca at some point by the sounds of it. Although I doubt it's just that.

It's got to be more than that.  Dave actually signed up before Macca decided to join the party and he's pretty big in his own right.  Shouldn't be shadowed by Macca.   Besides he has his own regular drummer.  Doubt he'd dump him even for Dave.

So apparently the thing that Dave Grohl is doing is being in Nirvana with Paul McCartney playing Kurt Cobain.

I'm still baffled that it's not April 1st.

I'm sure Paul will be chuffed to be in a band where the drummer can actually play the drums.

I would love to see Dave behind the drums again. My favorite drummer ever.

Well yeah, just not sure what he'll do without the rest of the Foos. Maybe it'll be acoustic Everlong/Times Like These kinda stuff. Or that Sound City thing he's doing. He'll only drum for Macca on that new song they're doing, I'm guessing.

I was thinking Stella. But Yoko could work I guess, as long as her mic's way down.

Awesome Lineup. I don't like everybody on here like Kanye West or Alicia Keyes but it is still all big names. The ones I do care about are Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones, The Who, Chris Martin & Eric Clapton

So is this coming on TV? I would love to see Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic.

So was it almost 6 hours long?

Woke up just in time to catch Macca's whole performance and I think it was great! :)  It was so much better than his performances at the jubilee and the olympics. So glad that he played Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five, a real favourite of mine. And the jam "Cut Me Some Slack" with Grohl, Novosevic & Smear was really great, gotta buy that song.

Y'know what? Just forget that I posted an update. I was intoxicated.

This concert is awesome.
