*shamelessly uses first post opportunity to get answers to questions easier*

Are there any interviews discussing the production of Warning?

When did Billie talk about recording lots of guitar tracks for Brain Stew to get "that scratchy sound"?

How were the Dookie Demos released? Like, I know they were two different demos tapes that were passed around to record companies and given to Warner and what-not, but how did they end up in the public and in the hands of GDA? [i've gotten info on this one, but never a full answer]

Is there anyone out there that we know of that owns exclusive things like demo tapes and rare live recordings and doesn't share them with us? I would love an insomniac demo tape.

Besides the band and Reprise, I am absolutely certain Larry Livermore has some early stuff. Perhaps a studio recording of You Can't Fool Me, even.

I'd never ask him about it, though. It's not really my business whether he has that kind of stuff or not.

Though I *ahem* wouldn't discourage anyone from asking him or anything.

[Edit:] Oh! And John Fucking Roecker.

[More Edit:] Also, VH1 obviously has the full recording of Billie Joe playing World Vs. World at a talent show. Someone said they've been emailing them about it, but got no response.

I think we all need to email them about it.

Is it confirmed that the next single will be Kill the DJ and will it come out August 14?

When did Billie Joe Armstrong make the joke about "spots on time" in a television interview? Does anyone have a link to that interview? He wore a jean jacket in it.

I have not seen any confirmation on what the next single will be.

For stuff related to the trilogy, let's keep that in the Trilogy thread. This topic was being discussed earlier

Edit: Just made a new topic just to talk about singles

I got Larry to reply to one of my tweets about a Lookouts reunion tour. Damn VH1, that performance has good quality too. And excuse me for my late night brain, but who is John Roecker and why does he have this?

Edit: Asked him via tweet. He said he doesnt have any recordings of You Cant Fool Me. Thats too bad.

There really is no answer to this. Like most stuff that gets released, someone just happened to get ahold it from the earlier days and decided to release it on the internet. Either someone released it exclusively to GDA or someone released it somewhere else and it ended up here in the end like most recordings

When Tony was doing an interview I asked him if he could ask but any early recordings and such. He said he doesn't think so, he may have one small thing (I can't remember what) but he's quite unsure about it. As for John Roecker, I doubt he would actually have any full demos, most likely just clips of stuff being recorded but I doubt actual demos

John Roecker is a friend of the band whose been around since just after the Warning era(?). He's the Networks manager under the name Dr. Svengali and was the one who recorded the making of American Idiot for his documentary called "Heart Like A Hand Grenade" which is still to be released but some footage is on a making of which got shown on television some years ago

When will they do some video interview?

No one really knows this. The only people who do are the band and their management. Once it starts getting closer to the albums released we'll see more video interviews

I doubt John Roecker has anything, he wouldn't be able to resist mentioning it if he did. He hyped up having an "unreleased Network song" for months and when he finally played it it just sounded like some background music for the Disease Is Punishment DVD or something. Not to mention when he pretended he knew there was a new Network album called Omega 3000 coming out. I think if he had even the smallest thing he'd say so.

Edit: Oh yeah of course he has Heart Like A Hand Grenade, didn't think of that . But he's not allowed to release that (so far at least), so yeah.

I believe there is an Omega 3000, but the Network probably was too busy with other things going on in 08-09. Hint hint.

The Official Green Day book was supposed to be released on September 4 but GD.com never mentions anything. There's any news about it?

I've talked to him about The Lookouts' demo tape and their live performances. He said he has the tape and one live performance in his apartment and if he ever comes across them he'll convert them to digital.

Do you have a link to the interview?

If he ever gets you those tape recordings, make sure to get those to me too

I think he'll probably publish them on his website if he does, in which case they'll probably get posted to GDA too.

All I know is that I had preordered it on Amazon and they cancelled the order. Haven't heard anything about it since.

Oh... Maybe the reason why the order was cancelled is because they're not going to release it :(

Thanks

Could be. I'm hoping it's just delayed and will come out soon.

According to Warner's press website (see at the left), "Kill the DJ" is Green Day's next single and will be released August 14th. This August 14th date lines up perfectly with what info was released in the pre-order of the Ulimate Box Set. This also said August 14th for the next single (with another following on October 9th).

Please, could anyone tell me how many singles are they going to put out from UNO? What single is coming on October? Is it Let Yourself Go?

If nothing will be added and the info on the pre order site stays the same, there will be three singles. There hasn't been any news yet that confirmed which song will be released as a single in October. You can go to this thread if you want to talk about the singles:
