Name (First and initial): Andy L

Location: Champaign, IL

How long have you been a fan: Since 1995. I bought the Dookie cassette off of a Jamaican guy for a dime.

Favourite lyric or quote (one-liner): "I perfect the science of the idiot." Armatage Shanks kicks ass.

Favourite music video: American Idiot. The only modern GD vid where Bayer properly showcases the band instead of doing some bizarre bunch of shit that tries desperately to recreate Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Funniest Green Day moment: Confused Billie at the 2001 BizzareFest when "Waiting" was interrupted by a German PA announcer who thought the song was over. He properly tells him to STFU.

Share a little about yourself: I'm Andy. I'm a 27 year old graphic designer/internet scoundrel/blogger/occasional musician. My home-state (south of Chicago) offers arguably the worst music scene available in the United States. I was lucky enough to be in a punk rock group where we traveled quite a bit and played a handful of amazing shows. I'm lucky enough to say I've seen my favorite bands (Green Day, blink, Angels & Airwaves, MCR, New Found Glory) all at least once, which I know is impossible for a lot of international fans, so I take great pride in that.

Enjoy Andy's audio interview below!

Great selection of Andy as fan of the week. However, I'm at work and can't listen. Will get to it proabaly tomorrow night.

(Sorry, Andy, but didn't want you to think I'd ignore a fellow Illinoisan!)

Lovely userame you have!

And from this:

Favourite music video: American Idiot. The only modern GD vid where Bayer properly showcases the band instead of doing some bizarre bunch of shit that tries desperately to recreate Smells Like Teen Spirit.

I take you're not a huge Sam Bayer fan either. If so, high five here!

I'm not at home right now, but I'll listen to this when I get a chance.

I had never seen that video before. Now it's my favourite Green Day moment too :P Loved your interview: (relatively) short, straight to the point. I am definitely fan of the Fan of the Week.

Isn't it great? I love the look on his face. I mean clearly the PA guy screwed up and thought the song was over, but it was so random. I think the youtube has the translation, but it was something like warning the crowd about crowdsurfing or something...

Great selection of Andy as fan of the week. However, I'm at work and can't listen. Will get to it proabaly tomorrow night.

(Sorry, Andy, but didn't want you to think I'd ignore a fellow Illinoisan!)

Oh really? Nice!! I'm glad I sort of introduced you to that moment. As far as the interview, I wanted to keep it kind of abridged without going overboard. Glad you liked it.

You should get into the radio biz. You have a great radio personality voice http://www.greendaycommunity.org/public/...

I actually went to college for radio, but the radio business is actually quite scuzzy and unfulfilling, thus I've been intensely interested in podcasting! And thank you for the compliment :)

Biscuits in gravy kicks ass.

This is exactly what I thought when I was first listening to the interview. Really well done! I've passed your name along to Andres and Jimmy as well about suggesting your participation in a SN episode, so here's hoping!

And even though it, in theory, does sound good and PB and chocolate are definitely the best match made in the universe...the description of soggy toast just made me ewwwww right the fuck out.

Oh, why thanks! I'd love to get in on one of the podcasts sometime if you guys would be willing. And yeah, the toast thing takes balance - you don't leave it in there for too long or it becomes mush, you just dip then eat.

BTW could you change the title of the thread to include /PullingTeeth or something? I don't think anyone recognizes this handle. If so thanks :D edit: thanks Jaymee :D :D :D

Also, if you like good dual vocal, you'd like A7X from a few years ago when Sullivan did backup vocals c:

I'd seem the gif of Billie's reaction to that moment, but somehow I'd never actually seen that. So, thanks for pointing that out, and wonderful interview!

Congrats to Andy! Nice interview. You seem like a cool dude. If/when Green Day comes back to play in Chicago, maybe we should meet up or even better would be a GDC meetup on the day of said show. I remember hearing about GDC meetups, but not too many in the midwest.

BTW, I've seen a lot of GD live clips but never that one of Waiting. Hidden gem! A classic kickass Billie moment right there.
