Oh Love Music Video

I enjoyed the video. It's definitely not a popular opinion and I can understand why people aren't fans of it. There's the argument that it's boring. I can see how it can be, but it's not that fast of a song. This is the first real music video for the band that we've had since LOTAG. This is a video that, to me, shows this band is back. They've said time and time again with this trilogy that they're just having fun this time around, making real raw music. The video shows just that. They're partying and just chilling playing music. The way each of the band members comes in at different times imitates a bunch of people hanging around jamming out. First they get the vibe of the song being played, then they join in and add their own stuff to it. It's not realistic, sure, but I feel like that's the vibe that we're supposed to feel.

To me, this is a great comeback video. It's fun, it has funny moments (it's Green Day, they can't NOT have them), and they're doing what they love to do. They're playing music.

And Billie has said that this video is kind of what it's like backstage or at their parties and whatnot. It feels chill. Sure, there are half-naked women around, but I'm pretty sure at their backstage parties there's bound to be someone topless at some point. They're rockstars.

I think that everyone was expecting something larger and it just doesn't quite meet expectations. I get that. And sometimes I get annoyed with Sam Bayer's work (he gets edit-happy sometimes and his scenes feel cluttered). But I think this is a great video for the band right now.

Why should anyone have the right to come to me and tell me I am wrong for what I believe in?

Anyone should have the right to come to you and argue you're wrong for the exact same reason you have the right to say what YOU believe in.

Its okay to disagree with someone but sometimes people take it too far and start sounding rude. I agree that people have a right to their own opinion of the video, and to disagree with opinions other than their own, but theres a point where simple disagreeing ends up turning into just being directly rude and hurtful.

I just came around watching the video... what can I say. I don't think it's sexist and this comes from someone who was once voted as "class feminist" by their school mates.

If I want to watch hot naked ladies, I watch porn. If I want to watch Green Day playing music, I watch Green Day videos. Bringing the two things together clearly didn't work, becausw it's boring as hell. And that was supposed to be the rated R version? I was waiting for these two girls to make out for four minutes, dammit.

Everyone here sounds like a prude.

What?! The overall impression I get from reading this thread is that people think it's boring and that most of us agree that it's not sexist.

I don't think anyone in this thread is a "prude". People have their reason for thinking this video is shit, ranging from Sam Bayer is a hack (which is true) to they just flat out don't want to see tits while they watch a GD video (also a valid point). Besides, I don't imagine many prudes listen to Green Day in the first place.

What's the point of the oversexualized naked women? Explain to me where there's artistic value in that.

I'm sorry, I just can't go with a theory that doesn't involve it being tasteless garbage.

Why would I even attempt to explain anything to you when it's clearly not going to change your opinion?

Let's be honest, if the women in the video had a problem with what was being portrayed they wouldn't have agreed to do it. I just didn't find the video as graphic as you seem to. I feel like I've seen worse just going to the beach.

They should have went with Marc Webb again instead of Bayer.

Webb has a MUCH more impressive catalogue, plus his movies don't suck (500 Days Of Summer and The Amazing Spider-Man).

And he directed the 21 Guns video and the 21st CB video (which IMO was the best one out of all the 21st CB videos). Marc Webb is very good at crafting a scene and creating chemistry between all of the actors.

I have to say I'm not that blown away with video. The girl's are very pretty, but the vid just doesn't seem to go anywhere. It just doesn't feel like a GD vid to me personally. I don't know, I'm just a bit meh to it..

Dammit! They played Angel Blue at the Tokyo show last night.

I wish we could have gotten video of it, that's one of the songs off !UNO! that we know nothing about.

You KNOW videos will surface from Tokyo of Basket Case, American Idiot, She and Longview .... but NOT Angel Blue, Troublemaker, Lady Cobra or 99 Revolutions!

Why must the world be soooo cruel?!

WHY?!?!?!

I really hope that a video of Angel Blue surfaces, that and Rusty James are the only two songs I'm kind of worried

about from !UNO!.
