It's my weekly reminder that I'm in the middle of a "busy" shift here at work, yet I'm not wearing shoes and am posting all over the GDC.

So stressed. I'd better go get some free starbucks.

I work this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I have no idea what I'm doing when I'm at the nursing home, but I'm going to try and make the best off it. :)

I love my job... for the most part, anyway. Some people can be really shitty, which kinda ruins your whole day.

I just clocked in at work and I just realized that I could really go for a bagel right now. There's a Starbucks right below the computer lab that I work in. I have to close the lab and the Starbucks closes at the same time as this computer lab.
This makes me sad.

They forgot to tell hubby he had to work today. :( A few others, too it seems. So now everyone has to show up at 6am to get everything ready and priced for the 8am house opening. What a crazy company this is! Pretty fly by night.

I work at a nursing home as well. There's a huge dining room where they all come down for meals and I'm one of the waitresses that serves them. It's like a regular waiter gig except I deal with people that have various degrees of Alzheimers, some hate you/blame you because they were put there against their will by their children, and a ton of other metal or physical disabilities. Oh and we are responsible for setting/clearing, taking orders, hostessing, etc. our own tables because the company is too cheap to hire more people. And did I mention we don't get ANY tips? It can be unbelievably frustrating sometimes because they will try to argue and say they didn't order this or that and you just have to go along with it even if they're being totally unreasonable.
If anything, it's taught me a lot of patience and social skills. There are days when I hate my job with a burning passion, but there's also times when the old people are adorable and overly sweet. Those are what make it worth while to me.

What will you be doing there? Are you a care giver? Nurse?

I know what you mean, sometimes it's completely awful.
I'm an auxiliary nurse. I only take extra shifts at a department for people with dementia, mostly during the summer. I also work at a hospital, were I take shifts every month.
I haven't been at the nursing home since last summer so there's a lot of new pasients and stuff so I feel kind of lost. Since I can't really ask them what they need help with and things like that, it isn't always so easy.

You guys...

i gave my two weeks notice at Hot Topic today. :(

It's a bummer but i just can't balance that and the vet job. And the vet job wants me all weekend, which is no bueno for working a retail job. But, the vet's pays me (literally) hundreds more than HT, so i had to choose... The vet's is my priority and while i used to be able to juggle the both of them evenly, now HT keeps getting screwed b/c of my vet schedule... and that's not fair to them.

Seriously, every time i try to work multiple jobs in one day or burn the candle at both ends something shitty happens. It makes me late for one or the other- or i bring the wrong "work bag" and wind up at HT with a bag full of stethoscopes/thermometers/etc.... Or, like today, i overslept for HT because i worked a late night at the vets last night.

Anyways. I had been thinking about quitting HT for a few weeks now and today i finally dropped the news on my boss. Bummer, because she is a good boss and it's a fun job and i like my customers. Its a good place to work. But at this point it's just not worth it. :(

in other news: HOLY SHIT I HAVE TWO WEEKS LEFT TO USE MY EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT!!! MUST BUY ALL OF THE THINGS!!!!

in other, other news: tonight at the vet was busy. We had some actual life/death emergencies. It was exciting. Then we just wound up putting them all to sleep, and it was sad. Bottom line: puppies and cars don't mix.

AND LIKE WE NEED MORE SICK ANIMALS: on my way out of the building i noticed two feral cats in the parking lot about to fight. I chased them apart (hopefully.) GREAT.

this is so screwed! I'm with this agency, and basically they find jobs for you. They emailed me Thursday to say they got a nice job for me, so I replied within the minute saying I'm interested, when can I go in for the interview? And they didn't reply at all, so I called them this morning, to ask what's up, and they're like: Ohhh, well you didn't reply, so we gave the job to someone else. I fucking replied to your damn email for fuck's sake!

*My friend and I in the pool of the slide we worked today*
Some girls: "when did the slide open?"
My friend: "in ten minute"
Another bunch of girls: "does this slide open?"
Me: "not now, there is a problem with the water"
after of so many things to say to each other, my friend check the time and it was 10pm! (we should have open the slide in 9pm... but we didn't really wanted to work so much )
