I was a goth for about 6 hours when I was in high school. I shall celebrate by watching the goth South Park episodes.

These days the closest I come is a black t-shirt of a band I like and black cargo shorts.

If I wear black I instantly look like a goth due to my paleness and dark hair. Unfortunately I'm wearing a pink dress today so looks like I won't be celebrating.

The first time I wore black nail polish and eyeliner when I was 11 or 12 years old, people at school called me goth.

Wow, I didn't even know World Goth Day existed! :P

It's usually 'emo' now but I got called 'goth' a lot in high school. It was mainly because I like Green Day and had a black hoodie. But I'm hanging round in manky pyjamas with wet hair today so I don't think I'm celebrating.

I used to wear all black in 7th grade, if that counts. It was my transition phase from trendoid to a sort of modern hippie/alternative or whatever, which I still kinda look like.

What is the difference between an emo and a goth? Or an emo and a scene kid? Not that I truly believe emo's or scene kids exist. I think they're just a label that kids give to other kids in a determination to categorise everybody into cliques and groups.

Scene kids are emos who don't want to be called emos, it's that simple. Although, some would argue the difference is that emo kids generally dress darker, are more apt to wear all black while scene kids like things like checkerboard patterns (in other words, scene kids rip off ska, fuckers), but there is no difference.

The difference between an emo and a goth depends on who you're asking. The self-identified emo will say 'not much' or 'nothing' and the self-identified goth will say 'everything'.

I think it's daft to label people purely by the way they dress... *happened to me for four years* :P

I was a goth for a few years in high school and college. I even sometimes dress the part nowadays if I feel like it.

Im not goth but people would label me as it. I was and still am to an extent fascinated with the culture and my style is definitely gothic influenced but I don't consider myself goth. I don't like labels and the way goth is now I feel there are just too many rules to say you belong to some group. The people that I've met who claimed to be goth were rude and stuck up. I hope there are nice goth people out there.

Oh those 'gothier than thou' types.. You'll get eletists in every group - they are essentially just arseholes.

I feel similar too. I have a huge fascination with the subculture but find that labeling and such is far too limiting for me.

Yeah it's like let me dress how I want but like what I want too. Dont shun me because I happen to like Green Day and The Cure. I feel like it wasn't as bad when it started in the 80s but whatever.

Well, I hate to judge people on the way they dress... Goth is not all about wearing black or black nail polish and listing to "goth music" even tho that's how goths express themselves, I'm kinda goth in a way, cause I wear black most if the time and write poetry...It's more like a way of life and expression of emotion,
Regarding the difference between goth and emo... I have no idea what the difference is :P

This is what goth is according to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia....Goth_subculture

yeah goth is so much more than clothes and music from what I understand but unfortunately that's all it's about now. You have no idea how many articles I have read about what to wear and how to wear your make up when you're goth.
