Sweet Armataged Chump 629 Posted April 30, 2012 I'm surprise there isn't this thread already. I've been in the chat and people have been talking about storms. Use this thread to talk about past, current, and future weather. Or any interesting weather stories. I've been interested in weather since 4. I always watched The Weather channel. I've only seen dime size hail. I've seen 85 mph winds. I've been two blocks away from a tornado in 1998. I love weather. Tuesday, Wednesday, and maybe Thursday there are severe storms expected. I can't wait.
fiercecircus 531 Posted April 30, 2012 i was caught out in a tornado.... last year i think? there were two that hit the springfield, MA area, i was out in the second one. On my way home from VT. It was so bad on the highways that we all ended up stopping dead in the road, just a line of cars. Once i made it to the Holyoke mall exit i pulled off the highway and sat it out in a parking lot. the hail was maybe 3/4 inch at most but it sounds like it's going to destroy your car when it hits! I didn't actually see a funnel cloud, but apparently there was a tornado in the area. Also i remember hurricane gloria- i was five. Irene was a doozy last year but not nearly as bad! The wind was scary though.
Hedwig 713 Posted April 30, 2012 Last year, it snowed in May. ...And that was my most interesting weather story.
solongfromthestars 10,890 Posted April 30, 2012 It snowed so heavily the Christmas before the last one that we literally couldn't get out of the house. I took a photo of the ice but my story is crap so I doubt anyone would even care about seeing it. British people could infiltrate this thread and turn it into weather spam. Nobody talks about the weather like us Brits.
Reagan 314 Posted April 30, 2012 Weather is so unpredictable here in Texas. You can get all four seasons in one week! I also live right in the zone of Tornados. o_o
Penguin Puffball 5,544 Posted April 30, 2012 A tornado dropped down about a mile from my house once. It snowed about a foot before Halloween this year. Also, my house flooded during tropical storm Lee in September.

Juliette 1,643 Posted April 30, 2012 I just got caught in a rain storm so bad my whole "don't get into cars with strangers" train of thought went out the window when some man pulled up beside me and offered me a lift. Totally worth the awkward chat & fear he was going to kidnap me.
Whatsinaname 519 Posted April 30, 2012 (edited) I love talking about weather events too! Great thread. I used to have a lot of dreams about tornadoes chasing me, at a time when my life was in turmoil. Living near Chicago, I have experienced major snow, thunderstorms, heat waves, you name it. Never saw a tornado though, yet. I like taking pictures of storms rolling in and I won't take cover until the last second.... Smoothed Out 293 Posted April 30, 2012 This could potentially become my new favourite thread I'm just about to start apply to universities for meteorology courses so yeah, it's my thang. I saw a funnel cloud drop in front of me last year in Florida, I'm talking EF0 like but that was awesome, like nerdily seriously awesome seen as I live in the UK. And in 2006 me and my family were wholed up in the villa in Florida when two tornadoes touched down on main interstate up the road, I have never seen weather like it, it was one hell of a system that lasted for a good number of hours. solongfromthestars 10,890 Posted April 30, 2012 I like taking pictures of storms rolling in and I won't take cover until the last second.... Same here I nearly froze to death wading through snow to get a photo of the field outside last time it snowed. I got a cold and the photo was crap. The snow even got inside my phone. ...But sometimes it's great.
whitechristmas 445 Posted April 30, 2012 Last week it snowed, and this week it's going to be 80 degrees. We have the weirdest weather ever.
charlatans&saints 170 Posted May 1, 2012 You can get all four seasons in two days in Minnesota. try a matter of hours in michigan. we had one day that it was warm, then cold, then sunny, cloudy, raining, hailing, and windy all in about 2 hours. and back in march we hit record highs at over 80 degrees (F) when it should be 30 and snowing

fiercecircus 531 Posted May 1, 2012 1. one time i was at a studio in Brooklyn that was facing manhattan across the river... a storm rolled in and i watched lightning hit the empire state building! It was amazing! 2. one of the hosts/announcer guys on the Weather Channel used to be in a band in CT. He is probably 10 years older than me, i use to go to his shows. I have a picture of him dressed up in womens clothing, and also in a thong and makeup. He is a NUT! I laugh every time i see him on TV!!! (not saying names OR posting pics as i don't want to negatively affect his job.)
charlatans&saints 170 Posted May 1, 2012 the weather pretty much went back to 'normal' after that wierd heat wave. we ranged from 30 to 70 degrees, which now that i look at it seems strange but that really is the normal weather for april here. tomorrow is supposed to be a lovely 73, and i hope the nice weather holds out until this weekend
Penguin Puffball 5,544 Posted May 1, 2012 When I was little I used to love to watch the weather channel. I would ask my dad every night to watch it with me. We used to get really bad storms over the summer. Practicing safety procedure, I would get all my dress up clothes and stuffed animals etc and take them downstairs, headed for the basement. Ashley! 1,094 Posted May 1, 2012 I have to small talk about the weather all day at work and now I have to do it here too? Just kidding. I really love thunderstorms, my dad and I will sit in the back yard and watch them come in. It's nice father daughter bonding.
