He never really did recover from his stroke. Still sad though. He will be missed.

New years won't be much different. He hasn't been the same "host" since he had a stroke several years ago. It's been Carson Daily with appearances from Dick to say what's coming up, or Happy New Year's. So we'll all miss that handsome face. But it won't be terribly different.

It's Ryan Seacrest that worked with Dick Clark. Carson's on another network NYE show. :)

I have issues with him due to payola and white-washing which have made it harder for me to completely LOVE him (but that was the name of the game back then), but there is no denying he is a cultural icon and even though I was too young for the American Bandstand days, somehow, the show and his presence was a major part of my childhood. He was one of those people that seemed immortal, and it was always a joy to see him on TV. Even after his stroke, as painful as that was to watch, it would warm my heart to see him and his wife kiss after midnight.

He will be missed.
