I'd like to get some feedback from you guys about the things we're doing on GDA/GDC and things you guys would like to see done to improve the sites. Big issues, small issues, whatever.
What are some things that would make GDC better for you? What would make you come around more often, or participate more often? Is there anything you guys can think about that you think "if only GDC was better in this way, I'd be around more"?
What are your suggestion on things that we could be doing to make this place more interesting to you. Contests? What kind? How often would you expect them? Something else?
Now onto GDA
How many of you check out GDA still? If you don't, can you let me know why? Is there something you guys wish we did differently or better that would better engage you?
If you still visit GDA semi-regularly - what are your suggestions for ways we can improve what we do there? What kind of stuff do you guys think a fansite should be doing that we aren't or that we could do and might do better?
So there we go. Basically, give us some constructive criticism and some ideas. If we're not doing something as good as you think we should be, let us know so we can try and improve it.

You can have more events for the members, and make sure everyone feels they are a part of the Green Day family. I am new here so I don't really know how you work.
And I know this might sound bad. But I haven't seen a "block" button, (SPELLING). So maybe it's something you can think about...

I don't visit GDA that often anymore, but it's only because Green Day aren't really doing anything right now, and I don't care about the Green Day news that comes out. I'm still on GDC every day, so I think it balances out.

I mean like, making more videos, sharing more of what we do in real life in a way so we can find each other better... It's kind of hard to explain, I am not to good at English....
I mean that the forum is a great thing, and I don't want to put dirt on you, but there is something missing. I can feel it, but I can't explain...
Meet-ups are good for people who can. I mean like, not everyone can....

Notifications for when someone replies to a comment. It's not something big, but it bothers me.
As for the GDA, I visit it every couple of days. Only reason I don't visit it everyday is because I'm too lazy to.

Hmm... I don't really have anything. I mostly visit GDA out of habit instead of interest, because it doesn't really have any news, but that's not something you guys can help.
That's things members do though, not something regulated. And as for part of the Green Day family (which is a vague concept/feeling, not a thing), you've been here for less than two weeks, it takes more time than that for anyone, anywhere to feel included and part of the group. That's not something Andres or another admin/mod can do.

Yeah, this bothers me too. I tried to fix it from my profile but is still the same.
And I said on the GDA suggestions thread, I'd like that the photo gallery could have more updates, and I offered my help as well...

It's not something we can fix on our own, but there's definitely something we can help better accomodate, like we did with the meet-ups forum. I don't think there's anything we can't at least try to address if enough people felt we could. We're a creative bunch.

In what way would you like to see the gallery updated? Just have more stuff added there more frequently?
The only thing I'm worried about is adding a bunch of duplicates. Though i do think we need to find someone to help us maintain the fan photos (tattoos, art, meeting green day)

I feel like we need more debates with a set time for them that would be pre arranged so people would come onto GDC solely for that. I did suggest a while back that we do those in chat so people would have to think on the spot and it would be more like a conversation and fast paced like a real debate.
I'd like it if we had more competitions and stuff too, like when ye asked for ideas for the wristbands

Well, I know that if there are new events the can't be updates all the time... But like I told you before, there are better quality versions of some photos. And for example, there are a very few pics from some the firsts eras where I click the photo to see it bigger but it doesn't show it. Also, some pics that are repeated, or some that aren't still on the gallery.
And like in the section of tv appereances there are screencaps from some videos I was thinking that maybe there can be added a section of screencaps from all the videos. Now, I know that is a lot but there are quite a few that worths it.
Idk, what do you think?

For people talking about the news - I think there's so much more we could be doing within the community. All news does is increase traffic, and while that's a good thing, there's always been a lot more we could be doing to engage the people who already pay attention.
You should add me on Skype (scatteredbomb) or Facebook (andresm) so we can talk some more. I like your ideas.

Direct reply button? Keep the quote button as well, but add a button that just replies to the comment. Quoting isn't always needed and if someoone does just try to reply to you, half the time you don't know it. Maybe have the replies indented in like in the GDA comments.

(someone mentioned debates) Have a thread specifically for debates? I'm not sure if there's one already (I didn't see one, but I haven't looked too hard either
), but if not then I think it's a great idea
A lot of the threads that come up on the General Chat are debates and usually at the top, meaning that the other threads aren't seen as easily.

one last idea for GDC: page jumps- be able to type in a page number so you can go ahead to that page instead of having to go through nearly every one.

As for GDA, I would say just mainly try to keep news updated better. I know there's been times where a lot of people have sent in news and it wouldn't be posted until almost a week or two later. Also, maybe random daily things (i.e quizzes, riddles, etc...) related to Green Day
give the nerds (including me lol) something to do

wtf is up with the random glitches? this time i didnt pull this out of autosave either

We definitely want to do a better job at news. One of my new years resolutions was to make sure that we're only posting quality stuff on the site. Not posting every little story, but also making sure on the stories we do post, that we spend a little time on them, add context to them, make them more interesting than just a couple sentences and link/photo/video. We've been doing ok on that, still need to work on writing up the good stories more quickly.

This place is wonderful, in my opinion. The admins&mods are great, just think about this thread. I always say it: you can breathe GD here; I'm satisfied. I wanna just say that to continue in this way. Maybe It would be nice increase the Meet&Greet and the contest with prizes (to entice people to partecipate), with purpose of expressing our Green soul..

To be fair to the news team over on GDA, ye do a pretty good job of posting a lot of news articles on a band that tend to go off the radar between album releases.

I think you guys do a fabulous job with GDA - the most professional fan site I have seen. I think the 'zine is the best idea yet!
In terms of GDC though, I think it would be better if there were more topics that brought users together, rather than splitting them apart. I mean there's people on the forum who go there solely for the BOYV forum or General Chat etc. It would be nice if we could get topics that would start to bring lost of people into one place. It's difficult to explain what I mean because I know not everyone has the same interests and stuff like that. Maybe doing something like Topic of the Week to get people looking at it, discussing it? More regular debates - someone's already said this but I'd like to just modify their idea into I don't think debates can happen in chat - some of the stuff people write is far too in depth for it occur in chat. Also maybe (even though I wasn't here when it disappeared) bring back Member of the Month? I know it's more work for mod's but I think it would make the place feel more like a community than just lots of separate rooms where different people inhabit the same old threads.
I think there should also be more contests - art ones especially, seeing as we seem to have a lot of really good artists/photographers on GDC. Maybe the winner could be featured on GDA (or in the next zine if it takes off??) and as a direct result the subject of the competition should be something to do with that particular time of year or something like that. It would look a bit odd in the 'zine if there was just a random picture stuck somewhere.
I'll come back when I've thought of some more....

I've been visiting GDA a lot more in the last year than in the past (although I started with that website, when I found the forum I didn't go back as much).
I also really like the weekly newsletter. Sure it's just a recap of everything I've already read, it always reminds to go back and reread or look something up I wanted to check out earlier that I didn't have the time for.
