It was really funny last night, because I don't think people there knew that Green Day was going to perform, except for those of us who saw the tweets from Billie Joe and Adrienne. The band before Green Day said that a local band was coming on after them, but they never said who it was. Then when they came on the stage (BJ first), no announcement was made, nothing. They just casually came on stage and began playing. It really was surreal. What a night!!

Another concert in America. Oh god, I'm sad. I live in the wrong country.

Thanks for all these photos!! :)

Heather.

JaseminTheIdiot, America's so big, most of us might as well live in Germany than make it to any of these secret shows.

Whoever said that Carpe Diem is good but should have a really epic bridge or ending, I totally agree. It's such a great song, and I love it a lot, but I did think "this could get even better if it ended with a BAM." Instead it ends the same way it goes the whole time... which I still love too. But I see what you mean. To me, it's kind of like how originally 21 Guns turns falsetto at the end, but later in the 2010 tour and with the Broadway influence, Billie started power-singing it and it just gave it that extra umpf.

I will forever love how I didn't miss the start of the show. i didn't even know what time exactly they were going on. i just heard "NOW" from Billie.. and I raced down there. Next time Green Day needs to do a 18+ show.

Yeah, living in the middle of the country, 2-3,000 miles from either coast does not make for being an easy trip to this secret shows even though "I live in America."

That said, still so excited that this happened and without the hype; for a cause they are obviously interested in and having fun. I like this Green Day.

I wanted to ask: what did everyone think of "Let yourself go"??? That was my favorite new song of the night.

Thanks a lot everyone for posting recaps, pictures and videos! I'm still not sure if I should watch the new songs videos.

So.. when can we call this the "Secret Green Day tour 2011"?:happy:

Can't stop listening to Carpe Diem. It's so great to hear something new!

Come on, how can you love it? it's ridiculous. I love when they DON'T wear eyeliner and all that useless stuff.

Wearing eyeliner is no more ridiculous than dyeing your hair, and it certainly takes less time and effort to do. Being bothered whether they wear it or not is ridiculous :P

Well I'd change it to "another show in California or New York". It would be nice to see them spread them around a bit more. But it's just the nature of the shows, they're in those places a lot and the shows are spur of the moment so that's where they happen.

Why can't Green Day play in Las Cruces? They've never played here. Don't they know they have fans here too! Why do they only play at the places that's convenient for them? Assholes!!

I know right? I live in El Paso so it'd be easy to go to but also the Speaking Rock here in El Paso has been doing free concerts of known bands and I'm sure if someone or if they asked Green Day they'd do it so they can test their new stuff I wish someone could get them here

did someone have Crape Diem's full lyrics??

heres what I got so far with help from the other pages.. Cant figure it all out.

Carpe Diem

Breaking in a sweat

Like a bomb threat

Use your silhouette, faded out

Nothing left to lose

Detonate the fuse

Another break and you fall out

Getting off a binge

Get a second win

Another promise, just make a change

Got a broken wing

Hear the angels sing

With a signal and inside of me

make a change, make a change (or anything, or aint it strange)

Carpe diem, a battle cry

are/aren't we all too young to die

Ask for reason, and no reply

are/aren't we all too young to die

Making a living

Making a killing (doesnt sound like making)

What's worth forgiving

A life/alive

And the other night

Barely scraping by

Dominated by passer-by's

Feeling out of luck

When the traffic stuck (i thought it said tragic struck but sure doesnt sound like it)

And you're feeling so left behind

Getting off a binge

Get a second win

Another promise, just make a change

Got a broken wing

Hear the angels sing

With a signal inside of me

any change any change(with head phones sounds like anything or Ain't it strange)

Carpe diem, a battle cry

aren't we all too young to die

Ask for reason, and no reply

aren't we all too young to die

Making a living

Making a killing (doesn't sound like making)

What's worth forgiving

A life/alive

-Making a living

Carpe Diem is growing on me the more I listen to it. Although I can't help thinking every time I hear that title that it sounds like it's something to do with fish

Thanks for the video, btw! :)

Should be "Get a second wind."

Thanks for the lyrics! I think it's "Get a second wind" rather than "Get a second win".

Edit: Argh too slow :P

i really love this GD Community XD...when i came from school today i was like "what the fuck? did they really manage to announce and play this secret show within less than 12 hours?" :D

i hope for an official announcement of a new album soon..i mean, how long are they going to tease us with this "secret show tour"

its also good that they played at this benefit event, so they were able to test their new songs on "non-hardcore-green day fans"... in near future everyone should start to save some money for next world tour i guess..cant be that far away ^^

and thanks to everyone for those great pictures and the people who tried to figure out the songtext of Carpe Diem ;)

Heather.

My fellow lyrics detectives... are we certain it's "a battle cry" and not "the battle cry" I'd lean toward "a," but i think "the" sounds better, and I can't tell 100%.
