You might have just decided my next sun holiday

Yea, but it's amazing there, and island Vir, which is like 10 kilometers from Zadar has beautiful beaches, nightlife and stuff are also fine there.

Have no idea how much money I'm going to need for America. I was going to book one of the hotel Trek America trips because so many people have had great times with them but the more I look into it, the more I know I'll get bored with such a rigid schedule and I'll wanna do things on my own. Thing is, I have no idea where to start. Has anyone here ever planned their own cross country trip? I've been left some money from my grandparents and instead of putting it towards a house, I want to invest in a real experience. :)

how much time is enough to make a connecting flight without a shitload of stress? the trip i'm looking at has 50 minutes between flights, and i just wanna make sure i'm not gonna break down and cry. i'm really bad at airports... once i get on the plane i'm fine, but the whole ordeal of getting to it just stresses me out. especially in an airport i've never been before.

You should talk to Hannah (the one from Germany). She spent about 3 months in the US all on her own.

When I went to mexico last year we had a layover in LA and I think it was about 30 or 40 minutes and we made it fine :) although the two were really close together in the airport so I guess it depends on where the boarding areas are

Definitely depends where you're flying to. If you have to do customs at the connecting airport I wouldn't chance it, speaking from experience. You want to account for the flight possibly being delayed as well. If you get stressed out travelling, I'd recommend to look at a different flight that has a longer connection time, just 'cause it'll make you feel a lot better.

We left Paris today, had a great 4 days there, they flew by! Happy to be back in Ireland though, I love this country. :)

Two days until I fly to Chicago with miss Emily! It really snuck up on me. Trying to pack tonight, I'm hoping just to bring a backpack with everything so I'm not hauling a carry-on around.

i had a connecting flight in dubai airport late last year and i managed it fine with 40 or so minutes between flights. even managed to have a wee and a cigarette. i'd done it before with my mum and we got lost, but the second time i did it alone and it was totally fine. you just have to know where you're going!

Looking at trips for next year has led me to almost book an all-inclusive trip to NYC in a couple of months... I didn't expect the prices to be so reasonable if you go for a deal! Matthew and I are going to decide on a hotel next time we're together. Something to look forward to as well as the epic journey in the future. :)

Brandon is taking me on some sort of trip somewhere this weekend, but won't tell me where because it's a "surprise." I think this may be legitimately the first time he's surprised me in 3 1/2 years because I have no clue where it could be... argh! All I know is it's somewhere in Ohio! :runaround:

I took a trip to NYC almost two years ago and it was wonderful. We were only there three days, but it was one of those all-inclusive things where we took a tour bus (actually with a group of old people from the senior center, including Brandon's grandparents, but that's another story...) and honestly you can do so much in a short amount of time when someone who knows what they're doing is taking you around. We stayed right by Times Square. I'd love to back someday.

I'm "planning" to go back to the UK next year, maybe for a whole week
I've already been to London with school but I didn't enjoy so much - AND I LOVE THAT CITY... no time, no organisation, just running aroung the city and "Big ben, the thames, ok we have to go back"
So basically I want to come back to see all I want: Warwick Castle which is hauted whoo, Peter Pan in Kensintong, Carnaby Street
Maybe Reading Festival

Rob was supposed to land at 8 pm yesterday but his flight out of Sydney was delayed too long so he missed his connection in LA and they we're supposed to get on an LA>Dallas>Toronto flight but the people at the desk took over an hour to get rough a line up that takes 15 minutes at Pearson (Toronto) so they missed that flight and had to spend the night in LA. They were booked for a flight out of there at 4:50 my time, arriving here at 9:30, but apparently the American Airlines manager booked them incorrectly and the flight was overbooked so now they have to wait for a flight leaving at 6:30 my time, getting in around midnight.

He's pissed. I've spent 24 hours waiting around for when I have to go to the airport. They were compensated with free hotel and all that and their tickets home are first class but he said it's just not worth it.

By the sounds of everything his trip to Sydney has largely been a bust but at least I'm getting Tim Tams and a keychain :) and he said as soon as I'm done my masters he wants to go there with me instead so yay he likes me still :P

Go for it :) I just came back from UK, spent 9 days in London by myself and saw what I really wanted (including Peter Capaldi, Mark Hoppus, Benedict Cumberbatch and the whole London Grammar whom I caught because I lived in a hostel near BBC Broadcasting house ). Then I went to Reading Festival which was the perfect end of the trip. The whole concept of guided trips suck a lot, I much rather prefer being by myself. And I plan to come back again next year, probably also for Reading and a week before it  :D

23 days until I go to London. Really need a vacation right now, so this fits me very well.  :D

It's way better when you can plan your own trip. :)

Kensintong Garden is beautiful! Carnaby St. is a great place, and Reading is awesome.

Hope ATL or something will play there next year. Then I want to go again.

Rob's dad has a Delta credit from cancelling his flight to Australia and apparently he's said we can use it so maybe possibly going somewhere over Christmas break. Not for sure yet but a possibility.

Is anywhere in Europe nice in December? I'd love to do 10 days in Spain and Portugal, or Greece or something. If Europe isn't nice our alternative is Costa Rica or something. Basically somewhere that would be a bit out of our price range if we were paying completely on our own.
