COMETBUS #54 Green Day In China?!

Recommended Posts

Aaron Cometbus went to the Far East with Green Day when they toured there last year. He's dedicated an entire issue to the experience called "In China with Green Day" (I messed the title up in the post title, sheesh.)

It's out now at NYC local independent underground bookstores, particularly at Book Thug Nation in Brooklyn and I think maybe Bluestockings in Manhattan. I bought my copy today. I think you'll be able to buy it online at Last Gasp in 8-10 days from today.

I just started to read it. It's great so far.

I want it! The international shipping is so expensive though :( . I wonder if there'll be anywhere else to get it online that doesn't cost so much?

I take it there's nowhere in the UK that sells Cometbus? I only have the books so I dunno.

Hermione, read my last post on Facebook....

I don't know, I'd email Book Thug Nation and ask them. info@bookthugnation.com

I don't know where else it's going to be distributed online, they might know?

Or might know if there is a place in England that it will be available. He's a popular zine artist, so maybe there's a bookstore... somewhere?

I realized I put it on the post title and not the post, so I just updated it!

any ideas how many there will be?

No idea, but when I bought it tonight at the bookstore, he said he had 5,000 in the back. lol. He may have been joking, I don't know, lol.

I read that Last Gasp will sell it in 8-10 days. They wrote that on a zine site on Janaury 24. You can probably email them and ask, too.

This looks awesome! :woot: Do you think they would still have it available in February in NY?

Probably. It's not going to sell out that quick! I think.

I'm almost done with it. Love it. Love it.

Wow, that sounds great!

If anyone finds a way to buy it online for a reasonable price...

Cometbus is a famous zine writer, wanderer, and punk. He's known Green Day since they were teenagers and he's a former roadie of theirs from the very first tour and he's the drummer of Pinhead Gunpowder. He had some issues with them for a while, particularly after they signed to a major lebal, and other friendship-related stuff, but they always remained mostly on speaking terms.

The zine is about their relationship and friendship, the Far East tour and Cometbus' own life, too.

Larry Livermore on Twitter last night said that it should be available soon in England at least, probably at a small, independent bookstore. Tony may look into where you can buy the zine at local bookstores.

Sampy, that reply was to you.

The booklet's about 100 pages.

There's some funny and profound stuff in it! I almost finished it last night but conked out at page 72.
