Redundant Lyrics

We're living in a repetition
Content in the same old shtick again
Now the routine's turning to contention
Like a production line going over and over and over
Roller coaster

Now I cannot speak, I lost my voice
I'm speechless and redundant
Cause I love you's not enough
I'm lost for words

Choreographed and lack of passion
Prototypes of what we were
Went full circle till I'm nauseous
Taken for granted now
I waste it, faked it, ate it, now I hate it

Cause I cannot speak, I lost my voice
I'm speechless and redundant
Cause I love you's not enough
I'm lost for words

Now I cannot speak, I lost my voice
I'm speechless and redundant
Cause I love you's not enough
I'm lost for words

I like the song. Don't listen to it very often, as I overlisten it pretty quickly and I don't want to ruin it, but I like it smile.gif
I'm eagerly awaiting people's thoughts on it, and especially the double meanings and puns I never seem to notice happy.gif

That part amuses me to no end. laugh.gif

I always took it as some people love everyday being the same, without any change. And when something is out of order, it's like the end of the world. Even if they didn't mean it to be interpreted that way, I always did and I love it.

Yes! This is one of my favorite Green Day songs of all-time. When I first heard this song, I wasn't until about a month after American Idiot came out. At the time, I thought it was one of the most perfect songs I've ever heard. Billie's voice, the lyrics, the beginning guitar...everything about this song is perfect. Whenever I hear this song, I always grin like an idiot because that's how much I love it. wub.gif

So happy it's SOTW!

laugh.gif J'net is brilliant.

I didn't think I liked this song at first. It sounded suspiciously like it might be sappy. But, it grew on me! I absolutely adore it - I think it was the video that helped win me over. smile.gif

I loled way too hard at the repetition, thank you, Department of Redundancy Department!

I love this song. It's just so catchy, and tbh I think it's one of their best 'love' songs, only because it's very realistic and blunt, and doesn't sugar-coat the reality of a relationship/marriage. It's still made clear that there's a sense of love and affection, it's just difficult to find, and I always viewed this song as a kind of gateway song, in terms of making a relationship better. Hope that makes sense.

I agree with Mar. I love how blunt and simple it is. I love you's not enough, I'm lost for words, is such a pretty lyric. And it's a song that anyone in love can relate too. When you love someone so much, telling them 'I love you' feels weak. I really love how Billie sings about that, and how he sings about how saying 'I love you' ends up feeling like a useless routine or something.
