We're talking so obscure that you would have trouble finding torrents.

I'd like to throw Mekons into this topic. They created alt-country with their opus Fear and Whiskey. No, don't discount it because it's country. The only country that you probably hate is that patriotic bullhonky. Stuff like Johnny Cash, Lucinda Williams, and Loretta Lynn should still be able to tickle the fancy of rockers.

Mekons formed in 1977 as part of the first wave of punk bands. The British band truly cemented itself as legendary with 1985's Fear And Whiskey. The only two albums I could download were Fear And Whiskey (which I later bought) and The Mekons Rock 'N' Roll, which I plan to buy to support this band. I heard about the critically revered but publicly ignored album OOOH!!! of 2002, but after hours of anguish searching for it, I had to buy it off of Amazon right away.

What bands do you like that are super obscure?

Saracen.

They're this heavy metal verging on arena metal band from I believe the 1980's. They're originally from England and quite awesome. I find their best song to be Crusader off the album Heroes Saints and Fools. A GDCer actually found me the link to this song and here it is, http://www.imeem.com...racen-crusader/. The songs starts with teasing drums and guitar and then goes into a sweet sounding operatic scream. After another false start and one more powerful scream, the song escalates into a tasteful melodically symphonic metal piece. They were still playing in 2006, though they lineup has since changed and I don't know if they continue to forge on now. I would highly recommend buying the album Heroes Saints and Fools. I don't know if you would be able to buy the MP3s, but it would be worth to get it in vinyl.

I feel like I've heard of UK Targets. I doubt I've heard any song by them, but the name sounds familiar. I'll look 'em up.

Raven. They're another metal british band, that were on the verge of making it big then just... didn't. They'd be great to check out.

Shango. A heavy metal band that started in Brooklyn, New York. The band consists of four very italian guys. I find them okay, some of their stuff I like more than others. And I'm just not saying them because I know the bassist/ lead singer. They have a myspace if you wanna check them out.

Zombie Met Girl - garage punk band out of the London area. one of my fave bands. particularly check out Chelsea Girl, Hotel Hippy Hangout, Murder in 314. found 'em through another band on myspace from the same area (see The Moon)

The Moon - another garage punk band. the lead singer Joe is a very cool guy. he doesn't have alot of my faves up on the page right now, he changes them around alot. but check out B'have, Dead Eyes, Fast Food Restaurant, Who's the Daddy (currently posted as Who? Scum! on their page), Swam, Flicker...if they don't show up on the myspace soon, i usually have some posted on my playlists on myspace (currently my playlists are partly down, am in the process of redoing them, damn storage site went down).

The Duppies - ska/reggae band out of Gainesville, FL. great live band. particularly check out Train and Up and Out

^ I've heard of Hinder, but not any of their songs.

OBE are a favourite of mine; I saw them live a couple of times, they're a Scottish band, but not very well known.

I'm also a fan of Beecake- another Scottish band actually (I don't live in Scotland btw tongue.gif), I think they're brilliant. The lead singer is Billy Boyd- you know, Pippin from Lord of the Rings. Awesome stuff.

Stupid boy has a background melody that sounds like "What would you do?" by the Living end.
It's pretty good stuff though. smile.gif

Blind Man's Colour.

This band is great, only problem being that with them you either like them or hate them. Check out "Jimmy Dove" to get an insight into their songs. Good stuff.
