I absolutely loathe him biggrin.gif. I think he should be placed right next to the lowest form of literature: Self-help books.

I leave you with a quote from a real author about him:

"-Not all his collection is good. Look! A whole row of Paulo Coehlo, translated - announced Jursich, and Quiroz greeted the books with a fake reverence, showing the only two yellow teeth in his mouth which had been ravaged by age. His smile transmitted no evil.
-We have all of Coehlo's work back at La Cuņa; three times each book, actually, and it almost fills up a whole wall. It seems like everyone wants to get rid of his books after buying them. They're like empty Coca-Cola bottles, there's no house that doesn't have one.
-It's funny: he's incredibly successful, he's a millionaire, he facies himself a saint, but they say he's more lewd than you, Jacobo, and his books all seem to plagiarize the most ridiculous self-help literature of all time. To me he's rubbish. He's the unworthiest perpetuator of the evangelist's kin."

Angosta Hector Abad Faciolince, pp. 206

For those who are fluent in Spanish I do recommend the book I quoted. For the rest let's hope a good editorial decides to translate this fantastic author.

I've read By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept, and even if the concept of a female God was new to me, I really liked the book.

I really want to read El Alquimista.
The only one book I've read of Paulo Coelho is Brida. I loved it. :)

I really want to read El Alquimista.

I've read it and it's really good. It can get complicated, though. Or maybe I just made it that way.

There's a place in hell for Coelho. He will face the worst of tortures there...
Reading his own work.

Just because you don't like his writing doesn't mean he's a bad author.

I love Paulo Coelho!  I read all his books, except the new "Manuscprit Found In Accra". I hope get it on Christmas. :D

Veronika Decides To Die is my favorite book. The movie is also good, but the book is really amazing.

People here in Brazil hate him, but they don't see that he's an awesome writer. People should be proud of him (as I am), 'cause he's part of a few brazilian people who are important around the world.
