Hi all,

I'm kind of new to guitaring and am a big fan of Green Day (I havn't been to any concerts though), and have a question if anybody can answer it about tuneing down. I have bought 5 of the Green day guita tab books and noticed that some songs are in standard tune, some half step down, and some full step down. Now i've never to one of there concerts, but do they have to keep tuning up and down all the time to play there songs or do they play them some other way if you know what i mean. Please help

Many thanks

OK, here's the breakdown:

1039/SOSH: mix of Eb (aka half-step down), and standard

Kerplunk!: Eb

Dookie: Eb, aka tuned downa a half-step

Insomniac: Eb on everything but jaded, which is standard tuning

Nimrod: standard

Warning: standard

American Idiot: standard tuning

tracks 1 - 10 on 39 smooth are standard tuning, 11 to 19 are 1/2 step dpwn and some a full step.

Nope, at the library is in Eb, pretty sure.

Burnout is standard :P

Nope, it's in Eb, try again please

They have different guitars and such. Also, the power-chord playing is simple b/c they just play a fret lower/higher.

As others have said, Billie has different guitars tuned in different ways, and depending on what key the song is in, that's the guitar he uses.

Exp. He's playing a song that's tuned standard, so he'll use the guitar that's tuned standard.

atl is in standard, sorry. but jaded, they play it like this:

G -------------------------------------------

D -------------------------------------------

A --------------44--------------------------

E --44--4-22-------------------------------

NOT like this:

G -------------------------------------------

D -------------------------------------------

A --------------55--------------------------

E --55--5-33-------------------------------

The way they play it, it's in standard tuning. IF you play it the 2nd way, then it's in Eb. Not that it matters, but there you have it.

lol, it goes straigt from brain stew, if u watch them do it live ull see its the 2nd way u showed it.

One of the guitars in BOBD is tuned down, while one is in standard, IIRC.

billies is in standard, jason uses a capo on the 1st fret.

Unless they're playing Jaded by itself, and not after Brain Stew.

In any case, what clusterbomb/I said about everything else was right.
