Early to mid 2000s pop punk always has a fond place in my heart. Probably my most nostalgic band from that era is Simple Plan, but it seemed like there always was a good pop punk act that didn't try to hard to be edgy or deep; they were just out there to have fun and play what they wanted. Simple Plan's first two albums were very listenable, and they could actually sing about life issues without coming off as preachy or whiny. Looking back, some of their stuff seemed a little simplistic, but overall, they've aged well.
Flash forward to now, I've barely heard from them. I guess it's a sign of the changing times, though it is cool that they're still putting stuff out. If they played a show close enough to my area, I'd definitely try to make it out to see 'em.
