It works, because they also need people to play keyboard/trumpt/sax./accordian.

The vocals fill the song, and it makes it awsome :)

i agree i think its just for live concerts anyway

i don't think it's too over-powering.

Whats wrong with having a lot of backup vocalists. You might not be able to hear amongst all the noise if it was just Mike during a live show. :/

Not all of them backs up at every single song...like...Basket Case...I think Mike's the only back up...imagine all members doing back up vocals on Basket Case...it's gonna be so holy, hahah...

^Jason White, Jason Freese and Ronny Blake don't go on stage for Green Day's old songs (except for Minority, IIRC).

I think that Green Day has too many back-up vocalists.

Mike Dirnt, Jason White, Jason Freeze, AND Ronnie Blake?

I think they should keep it to just Mike Dirnt. It's over-powering to have 4 back-up singers.

Thoughts?

(and yes, i searched first)

Completely right. Maybe - MAYBE - keep Jason White, if they REALLY need a second guitarist, and he can sing kinda well, nothing wrong there. But that's it. And get rid of Freeze. Completely. And Blake only works with the volumes of each mic/instrument, so he can stay hidden in a corner somewhere. Oh, and there is that 5th guy who plays backing guitar in St. Jimmy, Homecoming, etc. ... but i don't think he sings... so that's ok... iguess...

Every time I heard Tre in Homecoming it's make me loughed. his voice, speically in live shows, sounds likes a cartoon character  but he still cool :)

You don't seem to get what I said. I was just trying to explain it's not commom to see more than 1 back-up vocalist in a punk band.

what about Rancid then?

ANYONE sings better than that guy from Fall Out Boy! I don't mind some of their songs on CD, but when I heard them live... oh dear
