That last link from @GreenDayItaly posted does nothing for me, just a black screen, is it just me?

The link works, but I can't get the video to work for me.

Green Day were in their "mature" phase in the late '90s, so it's no surprise that Billie Joe decided to turn in a solo acoustic song for this comp ( short music for short people). Not that that's a bad thing at all; he's always had a way with jangly tunes like this. It’s brief, but this song is good stuff.

I've been recognized as a top fan of GDA on facebook.  How do I claim my prize?

Also, it seems as if scrolling by one post is enough to get these "fan badges"....kind of weird.  Also annoying that you can't see them on your own profile.  But I'm being a sore winner.  Bring on the gold!

From The Beatles to Billie Eilish: the 30 greatest concept albums

24. Green Day, American Idiot, 2004
Against the backdrop of the Iraq War, Green Day reinvented the rock opera for the punk generation. Billie Joe Armstrong, the band’s frontman, took inspiration from Pink Floyd’s The Wall and The Who’s Quadrophenia. He also immersed himself in Jesus Christ Superstar and the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

American Idiot relays the tale of a frustrated teenager, Jesus of Suburbia, raised on “soda pop and Ritalin”, who hates his small town and heads for the city. There, he crosses paths with St Jimmy, “a swaggering punk rock freedom fighter par excellence”. A Broadway musical expanded on the themes of alienation and dissatisfaction over politics in America post-September 11.

Pinhead Gunpowder
This punk rock mainstay has lasted for two decades, and its lineup included music editor Aaron Cometbus, punk rock bassist and songwriter Bill Schneider, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and their touring guitarist Jason White.

While it has been a decade since their last performance on Berkley, California, Pinhead Gunpowder has risen to the top of the US punk rock scene with hits like "Big Yellow Taxi" (1994), "Buffalo" (2001), and "Beastly Bit" (2001).

This came up in my feed yesterday and I have no idea why they're reporting it like it's a new interview.

Billie/GD specific part-

In the video for the remix, you also had Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong…

“That’s my stepdad.”

How did that come about, and what was it like hanging out with him?

“Well, I met him in Oakland backstage. They came to the Post concert and we were playing beer pong. Just before Post went on stage I just told [Billie Joe] straight up, ‘Yo, you’re a big inspiration, Green Day is the reason I make music. Green Day was the first album I got from my family – a guitar and Green Day albums, that’s all I wanted’.” I’ve always been inspired by them. I jammed their CDs till they broke and broke all my guitar strings trying to play all their songs that I couldn’t even play, but I swear I could.”

“I just told him that I got this song that had Wiz doing a verse [inspired by ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’] and started it off with that. We had to show him right away, he was like ‘Yo, this is awesome, I wanna be part of this’. And since then, it was just history, me and Billie are friends, I talk to him a lot, it’s just crazy to me still. It still feels like a dream, I gotta pinch myself.”

That's so cool to hear how much a rapper loves a band like Green Day and how he was inspired by them.
