  1. Thanks to Arica Pelino for her footage and Shayne Stacy for digitizing this classic material. See the caption in the video for more info. This is just a teaser. Arica gave Shayne hours and hours of videotapes of East Bay bands including lots of never before seen Green Day material from her personal collection. With permission she is now sharing her stuff with fans for the first time! I’m starting this thread and will add to it as more stuff gets uploaded. In the meantime enjoy this small backstage clip from the Phoenix Theatre in 1991 and subscribe to Shayne’s channel.

  2. The full show! Ultra Q's set is on their channel, as well.

  3. I'm right there with you, I obviously don't hate Dookie and commercially it makes sense to market the tour with them playing it in full, but I will fully admit that I won't appreciate hearing it in full like a lot of people who will be at these shows. A good chunk of Dookie has always been, and will always be on the setlist, whereas Saviors stuff could disappear after this tour, so I wish we could enjoy all of it now!

  9. I'm giving away 6x4 prints from the Coverups and Longshot shows I've photographed because they're cheap and it's Ramadan. If you want some, send me a message letting me know which ones (eg. "C6, LS15") by 7 April. You'll also need to send me your name and address. Choose as many as you want – I do actually need to print at least 500 to get the best price. It doesn't matter if you already have some of my prints. They're great, so why not get more? If you want a bigger print, you're very welcome to ask, but I will have to ask you to pay for the print and postage. This is the price list: https://www.tescophoto.com/photo-prints Otherwise, I'm not expecting any payment, but if you really, really want to, you can donate the cost of your prints and postage to charity or buy me a coffee. And if you're not already following GDA on Instagram and Tumblr, go and do it.

  14. AI and Dookie (plus Minority like they've been doing) give me all the "hits" I need. Now, I can see someone arguing that they don't want to hear albums in full because they want room in the set for more deep tracks like they tend to do at small shows, but to get to hear all of Saviors, plus deep tracks off of American Idiot, would satisfy me completely. The last argument I would expect to hear from a fan is that they didn't play enough "hits". They've played the hits enough times they don't ever need to play them again.

  16. some backstory: Jean Repetto (from what I've gathered, now known as Jeana Repetto) was fifteen (https://www.discogs.com/artist/689398-Fifteen) drummer in 1989 and later, guitarist during their reunion in 1997 (She appears on Lucky https://www.discogs.com/master/413748-Fifteen-Lucky). I'm pretty sure that she lived/lives in the bay area and did some classical/jazz stuff too in the early 2000s. And she was also from East Bay Mud (https://www.discogs.com/artist/414855-East-Bay-Mud) Back to the song... I really never heard this version and the title says "portastudio 424",a 4-track recorder, perhaps the same billie used for the demos? Please help me! And let me know if I found something new, maybe? Thanks Also I've never seen neither this photo nor billie with a brush cut lol

  17. Hoarding is a strong word. She’s not a collector, these are her personal memories. It’s really generous of her to want to share everything now, she by no means had to. It’s been in storage for years and took a long time to go through and digitize.

  18. Billie chokes at 1:40 of Whatshername. Damn, it's still his emotionally weak spot song after all these years. I completely get that. And as much as it's painful and hard to let go of past, it's on the other hand so raw, romantic and beautiful to hold on to these painful memories which, in the end, made us who we are today.

  20. 1981 does have more streams that the other non-singles though, probably just because it's the first non-single you hear on the album and maybe the fact that it was the first song we heard for the album (live) You can look for the streams each Green Day song and album is getting here Songs - https://kworb.net/spotify/artist/7oPftvlwr6VrsViSDV7fJY_songs.html Albums - https://kworb.net/spotify/artist/7oPftvlwr6VrsViSDV7fJY_albums.html There's a lot of interesting things to take from these figures. Saviors (the album) is getting 296k daily streams now, less daily streams than AI/Dookie/Nimrod/21CB/Insomniac but still much more than the last few studio albums, though in the coming months/years, that figure will continue to fall. I think Saviors will continue to perform better than FOAM and the trilogy in terms of streaming however. Revolution Radio has a lot of total streams, being their 5th most streamed studio album, but is gaining much less streams than all their studio albums from 1994-2009. Father of All has more streams than Dos & Tré but less than Uno. I wouldn't be surprised if Dos starts gaining streams at a faster rate than FOAM at some point. Stray Heart is gaining daily streams faster than any other trilogy song, even more than Oh Love which is the hit of that era and has the most total streams. Considering Oh Love can be heard on both Uno and God's Favorite Band, this is surprising. Last Night on Earth is gaining a lot of streams, currently no. 12 in terms of daily streams, even though it was never released as a single.

  27. Ah, legendary Not So Silent Night 2011 performance where they were last minute substitute and had to perform as 3-piece. Great show with funny improvisations everywhere (American Idiot solo) and also last time Billie played guitar during Jaded IIRC. Anyways, man was 39 during that night and off from tour. He is 52 now and about to hit the road once again with the most demanding setlist they've done in years. Getting older sucks, but I am so ridiculously happy to see them still perform after all these years. Sure, they might not jump around like they used to and some songs are slowed down and Billie can't hit some notes as effortlessly as he did 15 years ago, but that's just life. Man can still sing, play guitar and pull off awesome show. I wont take that for granted. Billie's vocals peak was definitely in 2009-2011 period. I've seen some recent comments of how Billie's 2004 vocals were better, but I disagree with that. Just listen beginning of this video. Man could sing and he did it so well.

  28. It’s so cool to see them out of their comfort zones performing so many songs that aren’t fully ingrained in their muscle memory yet! Mistakes and all! Mike particularly looked like he was having fun playing the new stuff. Looked like a great show and I’m hyped for the tour! I wouldn’t mind a club show in Chicago either 👀.

  39. The guy was presumptuous and incorrect saying "lol he's not getting emotional lol". Billie was cordial enough to say "it's fine" in his second comment. He doesn't need to apologise for calling out a stupid comment as stupid just because they guy apologised for making it. OMG I just watched Fancy Sauce from this and it was glorious! Really hope they'll play it on the tour

  40. Okay this kind of outraged me: “One moment, Armstrong feigns shock, eyes wide and mouth agape; the next he bares his teeth in a crazed grin; at melodramatic moments, he even sheds mock tears, as he did at the climax of “Jesus of Suburbia.” It’s a tactic that’s silly, but undeniably charming. Armstrong’s star power comes partly from his unpredictability — no one quite knows what face he’ll show next” Is there anyone that really thinks that emotion is fake?! That’s an insult to the way he is always leaving it all out on the stage. No way he’s faking that. I think he got choked up during three songs last night and it was all 100% raw emotion

  41. So many good feels from that Anaheim show And Billie, of course, is looking soooooooooo cute. I don't know what it is about this version of blond Billie, but I love it! It suits him really well and he's looking mighty fine. Also, his hair was so floofy at the show it made his head look extremely big

  43. Ok, I knew the song 1981 was about just letting loose like it’s 1981 and I can think of a million reasons why 1981 would be awesome for everyone but then thought of Billie and/or Green Day specifically. If this has been said already I apologize. No time to read all threads now a days. I can think of several but politically 1981 was the year before Reaganism. Personally to him, it was the end of his actual youth as his father died, probably along with a big part of him in September of 1982 (making 1981 his last care free year at the young age of 10.) He also met Mike the following year in 1982 and 1981, August 1st was also the year that MTV launched, eventually a foreshadow to their massive fame which Billie seems to enjoy). Just some random thoughts today. “She’s gonna bang her head like it’s 1981”. Get it. BTW, this was the first song MTV aired on that day. Very appropriate. And made in 1979…
