I've started scheduling stories on the GDA Instagram that are throwbacks to gigs played on that day however many years ago. If I'm going to all that effort, I might as well post this stuff here as well. However! I'm only focusing on gigs (not album releases or anything) and I'm very likely to forget to post here anyway, so if you remember anything that happened on a certain day years ago (or if you feel like copy/pasting from the GDA Instagram), please contribute! Even stuff like music video releases and chart positions on certain days would be interesting to look back on. So, on this day (16 April) 19 years ago (2005), Green Day played in Orlando, FL. 11 years ago (2013), they played the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. And 9 years ago (2015), they played the House of Blues in Cleveland before their Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame induction. Yes, I did get the year wrong on Instagram. Enjoy looking back at what our favourite band have been up to!9 points

1981 does have more streams that the other non-singles though, probably just because it's the first non-single you hear on the album and maybe the fact that it was the first song we heard for the album (live) You can look for the streams each Green Day song and album is getting here Songs - https://kworb.net/spotify/artist/7oPftvlwr6VrsViSDV7fJY_songs.html Albums - https://kworb.net/spotify/artist/7oPftvlwr6VrsViSDV7fJY_albums.html There's a lot of interesting things to take from these figures. Saviors (the album) is getting 296k daily streams now, less daily streams than AI/Dookie/Nimrod/21CB/Insomniac but still much more than the last few studio albums, though in the coming months/years, that figure will continue to fall. I think Saviors will continue to perform better than FOAM and the trilogy in terms of streaming however. Revolution Radio has a lot of total streams, being their 5th most streamed studio album, but is gaining much less streams than all their studio albums from 1994-2009. Father of All has more streams than Dos & Tré but less than Uno. I wouldn't be surprised if Dos starts gaining streams at a faster rate than FOAM at some point. Stray Heart is gaining daily streams faster than any other trilogy song, even more than Oh Love which is the hit of that era and has the most total streams. Considering Oh Love can be heard on both Uno and God's Favorite Band, this is surprising. Last Night on Earth is gaining a lot of streams, currently no. 12 in terms of daily streams, even though it was never released as a single.9 points

Shame about Billie! But the other two would work well on either end of a shelf/display as a pair. The one time I bought an album bundle was to get those candles and once I had them I just had to make a Green Day shrine . They're my favourite piece of GD merch I never spent a lot on merch just got all albums on CD and bought or (more often) got gifted some random things over the years8 points

On this day (17 April) 26 years ago, Green Day played Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco. "Who's from the West Bay? I bet you people don't even know you're in the WEST Bay. Did you even know there WAS a Bay?" – Mike "How many people live in San fucking Francisco? You suck!" – Billie The Longshot played Thee Parkside in San Francisco on this day 6 years ago. A nice quote from that show: “I have so much gratitude and so much love getting to play music in front of people for so many years.” And an amusing one: “We’re gonna do this thing where we pretend to walk off and walk back on.”7 points

Wonder how it’ll stack up against their 2012 Echoplex show, that one was pretty special.7 points

Better pull off Makeout Party and 8th Avenue Serenade from the bin and perform those damn songs again. Both of them were fucking AWESOME last time around. Yes, even Billie's weird ass fap session during Makeout Party.6 points

I know! I giggled when it said Smashing Pumpkins were supporting because they used to talk tons of shit about them in the 90s lmao. I recently listened to a folder of random old audio interviews I found and they made negative comments about them in three different ones including one with Ben Weasel where he and GD agreed on them as a band to be eliminated from existence. They thought they were boring and pretentious. But to be fair they did used to talk shit about virtually every band out there that wasn't a small/unknown one from 1990s to early 2000s. Edit: Nice discussion from a 1996 interview where they praise the music but instead talk shit about them as people This interview also contains this gem from Billie on the subject of GD not being grunge/shoegazers (not about Pumpkins but hilarious) Half the interview is them shit talking various acts lol https://punkrocker.org.uk/punkinterviews/greenday.html6 points

Special one today. 9 years ago, Green Day were inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. They also played the LA Sports Arena 11 years ago today. The 99 Revolutions Tour was 11 years ago? WHAT?! HELP. 19 years ago, they played the USF Sun Dome in Tampa on the American Idiot Tour. There was a review up at some point, but the links are dead, so all we've got is "Billie Joe Armstrong asserts his personality while performing with Green Day on Monday night before a sold-out crowd." 30 years ago, Green Day played the Satyricon club in Portland.5 points

Hoping that “the hella tiny tour continues” means there’ll be more shows and specifically outside of the west coast for us east coasters5 points

This is really amazing. For a band that always wanted to have a legacy and leave something important behind yet were told you couldn't get big making their kind of music, it's a tremendous achievement. Congrats to our boys5 points

What's so cool about this album is how so many people have different favourites and there's something for everyone. This track is growing on me a little (but if I'm listening to the album on repeat I will occasionally skip it along with FTAS)5 points

At first I really liked it, but now I LOVE IT. One of the best song of the album and the more I listen to it the more I think it would have worked very well as track #1.5 points

The sad thing is when I googled Green Day and Smashing Pumpkins the only thing that came up the other way was Billy Corgan giving them a lot of praise in the 00s. Hopefully the band doesn't know lol. But I guess they were a lot younger then and they're all old enough to know that opinions and attitudes change.5 points

I'm still waiting for an interviewer to ask them about Saviors starting life as 1972.5 points

The venue posted about the 2012 show (and this one) https://www.instagram.com/p/C536D2LP1kb/?igsh=MWhuM2YyY2RjcnNmdg== In 2012 I remember staying up all night waiting for tweets that a GDCer was posting for us from the venue!4 points

To show Green Day that The Network is going to take over if they're not careful! I'm so thirsty for a new Green Day live release that I was forced to purchase The Network DVD instead!! The best way they can fix the situation is do some club shows to tell The Network step off of their territory!! They could do a few shows in the midwest like...oh I dunno Chicago...just throwing it out there. Are you listening Billie?4 points

When you keep repeating your hilarious joke about The Network NOT being Green Day ad nauseum to the point your partner says "The joke is old! This isn't the Green Day fangirls forum! I know the joke!" Needless to say, he prefers The Network4 points

No one is fighting, different opinions are important so conversations are engaging. I don't feel like my opinions are disrespected and I don't believe Christian's Inferno! feels that either. Atleast we can agree on Living in the '20s being a fucking banger. Holy hell that song is GOOD.4 points

There is just something about this song that draws me in. From the moment we heard the poor recording in Canada (Montreal I think) the melody was stuck in my head. I think it might be my favourite, though not the one I think is the best song on the album, if that makes sense4 points
