  4. FOAM is number 9 on the top 10 most popular records of 2020 so far, on Discogs https://www.magneticmag.com/2020/07/tame-impala-tops-discogs-most-popular-releases-2020-so-far/ Well, it’s Discogs, so a niche that doesn’t represent the whole market at all, but it’s still nice to see them up there IMHO.

  5. I recently started dog walking for a family who live a couple streets away. One of the dogs is a tiny, mischievous little fella with fluffy black hair - and his name just happens to be Billy 🤔 Also, whenever we get near the end of a walk, I start singing the "We're coming home again" part of Homecoming to the dogs 😂

  6. Without seeing the rest of him I can’t tell but he was already pretty skinny during FOAM promotion. Maybe if we ask nicely we’ll get a full body shot 🙏🙂

  7. I haven't fangirled over Billie in a while, but as soon as I saw his Instagram story I had to rush here instantly Look at that wild mane of hair! 😍 I've really started to appreciate guys with longer hair recently, so seeing Billie like this does things to me And I love the blonde bits too. He should keep it like this for a little while after GD comes back. I also adore the grey stubble He's just so damn pretty! ❤️

  8. I think I'm vibing with Billie's current hairstyle because that's pretty much what my hair looks like If I'm not going out, it doesn't get brushed so it's a wild nest and now that it has some color in it it's kind of random. I really don't mind the bleached bits. I think they look good on him Like I said, let me ruffle up that hair!

  10. Maybe he took Tré's swoleness as a challenge and decided that he should get back into shape too. I do think he looks a lot thinner. Especially his neck.

  11. I think the Longshot is more in line with where GD should be than RevRad OR FOAM. Longshot had serious lyrics with their 90s tongue-in-cheek attitude and catchy hooks. It was pleasant also also made you think sometimes. RevRad was a bit too heavy, but I think this was just due to Billie's lyrics being repetitive and far too blunt. Troubled Times is an example of a tired topic with a borrowed riff and really said nothing new. Ordinary World was boring and cliche. On the other hand, Too Dumb to Die was a reflective, clever song that was personal and also commented on finding yourself in a chaotic modern world. Bang Bang was an impressive character study of an important topic in the US. FOAM was more vibrant, but had similar lyrical and thematic flaws. Sugar Youth is a cool sound with clever, fun lyrics. The title track also had some lyrics that fit well with the theme of the song. But a lot of songs were ruined by cliche lyrics, such as the forced bad-assery of Take the Money and Crawl, or cliche chorus of Graffitia (despite it being overall a good song). GD has always had a way of making serious topics fun. Their 90s songs take a ton of dark topics and make them digestible, and their commentary was genuine and human. Longshot showed BIllie is still capable of this. I think the "Green Day" brand is just too heavy for these guys and they psyche themselves out. Their side projects, where the stakes are low, have been better than their GD releases.

  12. Yay who needs Mondays anyway? I kind of like that it’s less predictable. I’m showing my age here but the version I knew as a teenager was the one by Kirsty MacColl and always loved it. A very English song and an interesting pick for our Billie. Now I wish he’d do Going Underground by The Jam if he’s gonna go full on Brit.

  13. Awesome cover and I’m glad Billie likes Billy Bragg

  14. One does not simply listens to Green Day without good headphones or earphones. On max volume. FOAM is meant to be listened that way.

  17. This is true! @BillieMyLove, don't give up. Keep working towards those goals and accomplishments. As more things come out from my work administration, I'm getting the feeling that I'll be working from my home for the next year. Am I happy about this? Hell no. But even though my "desk" situation is not ideal and i'm working on an old desktop instead of my new one, I'm still working towards my goals that I've set and accomplishing tasks that are on my radar. I have a feeling I'll be redoing my "office" space if I truly am remote for the next long while. I can't keep looking at this mess of work in my dinning room 24/7.

  18. We all keep making fun of GD so our dear GDFan really is the only person who deserves this. We’re all fake fans.

  19. I was disheveled, but then I got my hairs did yesterday 😊. Feel like a whole new person. Fresh color and a new cut/style. The hair is a bit sassy today. Goes well with my current mood. Sassy.

  20. Yeah, I think this is fairly non-excessive when it comes to mansions.

  21. Not sure if this is same link @Little Boy Named Booze shared but it seems to have more pics etc. It’s a huge, beautiful house but it still seems to me a nice family home, could be far more extravagant than it is. oops, link dropped of but @That Dude has it below.

  22. Kind of questionable? 🤔🤔🤔😂 it’s horrifically questionable. but he still looks good. Face seems slimmer.

  23. It’s so great to see his face again finally. I was waiting for this so long lol But yeah I’m not personally a fan of seeing those two colors together in his hair like right now. I would prefer his natural fluffy curls that we saw when quarantine first began a few months ago but still, he looks always really pretty to me just because it’s Billie lol

  24. Even in quarantine he's beautiful 😍 I just wanna ruffle that wild mane of his.

  25. Can’t tell if he’s looking real skinny or the hair is just overwhelming his face. He looks real healthy regardless!

  28. I was thinking a bit about what I've said here a couple hours ago and I need to correct myself: when we say the party records feel immature and unnatural, it's not really about the records that we complain about, but the way they're marketed. I don't think the writing itself is insincere. I fully agree with @Thatsername that FOAM is a dark record that's far from carefree and party (and same goes for a big part of the Trilogy). These albums are about being self-destructive and that's a part of Billie's experience that he's writing about. It's not a reflexive kind of writing, I guess that might not even be possible under the circumstances (he's said before that he used to write about characters and didn't consciously think about himself, even though the songs were autobiographical and this might be a similar situation), but that doesn't mean it's fake (even though it does feel like a step back after revrad). I believe FOAM would get a better reception (at least from us), if it was presented as this dark record about depression/falling back into bad habits etc., than using this "party" narrative that the band themselves weren't convincing about. I get that it's easier to say (and it doesn't get as personal) plus I guess the marketing dept. thinks it's also catchier to present it as this party thing, but it will never work, because it's not true. Imagine they tried to pretend Insomniac was a happy record - the album would be no worse, but it'd seem fake.

  29. Two comments: This is definitely a headphones album. Boy did Graffitia become suddenly lyrically poignant given the state of things.

  34. Same. I didn’t feel so impressed tbh especially after I saw other musicians’ houses which have like 2 tennis courts and 20 rooms or something lol Btw, I’m not sure if it was true but I read somewhere he had a toilet seat that is covered with names of all the bands that he hates. It was in one of his old mansions, I guess.

  35. But in all seriousness, I could do without the blond bits. It's just so patchy and weird. This is not my favorite hairstyle on him, but I still like it a lot. He seems a lot thinner, especially in the neck, and looks a little tired to me. Glad we got a picture of him with no mask so we can finally see his face again, though!

  36. It always makes me feel really weird when I see things like their houses. Yeah, I know they're loaded, but I never really think about them living in such extravagance. They're all usually so down to earth and when we actually get to see their wealth manifested in something like a house I just get an uncomfortable feeling. 😬 Idk maybe it's just me.

  37. Bang bang and to dumb to die, and forever now/somewhere now to a lesser extent are pretty good lyric wise I'd say. To dumb to die actually being the most personal song he's written in years I feel. I wouldn't mind more songs like that. Genuine lyrics we used to get on the insomniac, nimrod, and warning days. And I dont care if he gets political. But if you got something to say say it! Dont just give me vague slogans that dont actually mean anything. That just sound ok on paper. You don't have to be poetic, if you wanna say fuck so and so say it.

  38. I'd say the black hair is the most identifiable for him (and is what I prefer), but he changes the length and between curly, spiky, and straight. I prefer it longer, but not whatever the hell he has going on now. I also think he looks a bit too skinny right now.

  39. Billie can so get it with that look

  40. The hair! He definitely bleached only the grey spots. I think it's a bit of both.
