  1. Oh Jesus...some of you all are really fucking over reacting. Like...wow.

  2. Green Day is allowed to make whatever music they want On the other hand, however, we are allowed to dislike it and it doesn't mean we're Dookie/AI purists

  3. Oh so you just want them to play songs about kidney stones and arthritis

  5. Every time I hear people on this community say that this album will ruin Green Day, or they aren’t what they used to be, I just want to slam a copy of Warning in their face. People were saying the same shit about it too because the album wasn’t Dookie 3.

  8. I think what we are seeing is a perfect representation of how very difficult it is when you have had enormous success. Green Day put out Dookie when nobody expected anything and it was huge, so brilliant and so successful. Everything which followed was considered lesser. Green Day put out AI when nobody expected, ok maybe not much as opposed to nothing, but again it was huge, so brilliant so successful. So if you are a professional musician what do you do? How do you keep going? The band members have said repeatedly they will keep moving forward, they will not revisit anything and they do that. So thirty years later, if you still makes music regularly you have to explore new things or you may as well give up and go home. I get that this new stuff is very different, I get some long time fans don’t like it, I get that this may well bring in yet another batch of new fans. I also understand and partly agree that RevRad was, for the main, a fairly standard rock album, albeit with a few gems thrown in. If anything, my worry was this album would be very mature, classic rock type. I really like the vibe of what we have so far, I think the three tracks played in order are more together than individually and I think it all sounds fresh and new, I am eager to hear the rest of the album. I am very, very happy that in these weird and difficult times, GD are still putting out new music which, to me, fits.

  12. I’ve dedicated my entire life to Green Day and respect and even enjoy the new sound. Totally respect people not liking it because it is very different. What I don’t respect is people acting as if they have insider info that the band has given up and are releasing these songs cuz they don’t care. Maybe they do care, and wanted to be creative, and try something new. Honestly do you think anyone expected AI to come after Warning? No. Green Day is constantly changing and evolving. I thought Swifties were crazy, but at least they don’t constantly trash an artist they love.

  13. I don't know who's more annoying - people who insist everything green day do is absolutely horrendous or those going yOu hAvE nO tAsTe at the first group

  14. As if releasing this record automatically all the copies of AI are gonna self-incinerate (and the Nimrod ones self-blend). I really can’t get my head around some of these comments.

  15. As long as they keep my fave King For a Day I'm happy. And as many songs that aren't from Dookie or American Idiot as possible plz

  16. Isn’t that the point? They’re meant to let you know what you’re in for and so far we’re in for a shitshow. That I can get behind! The Longshot album is better than FOAMF, Dos and Tre. So glad he hasn’t completely lost his writing ability, but it’s a shame to see that this is his standard now for GD 😞 Hope GD retire after this tbh. I don’t want them to ruin their legacy even further. I’ve defended these guys so much throughout the Trilogy and RevRad but I can’t defend this in any way. Feels like they’re throwing us the leftovers of their entire career and laughing in our faces. Don’t even know if I’m looking forward to seeing them anymore tbh.

  17. I don’t know enough about you and your post history, and sorry if I use your post as an excuse to write what follows even if it doesn’t necessarily apply to you, but in this community there’s clearly people who cannot like a song from this band if it’s not either traditional punk rock or emotional pop rock/punk. Otherwise I don’t understand why (some) people are calling this basic pop, trash, the end of this band or whatsoever, and a similar reaction didn’t not even remotely occur when they released songs like Oh Love and Revolution Radio. Of course IMHO, but these two songs add much less to the grow th and story of the band then what we heard so far from FOAMF. Again I am sorry, I don’t know you well enough and probably this does not apply to you, but there’s a part of this fandom that will never appreciate anything from this band If it’s not another variation of AI or WMUWSE, and this does not emerged only with the release of these three songs. It happens any time a member of the band get close to a “non desired” artist like Billie Eilish, when hip hop is associated to their music (gosh we spend 10 pages discussing the appearance of a rapper in a GD video, and it didn’t even happen in the end), whenever they approach something slightly different from their history (see the blasting of Butch Walker the moment his collaboration was even only rumored, or the release of Dos). Of course, people can dislike this music, gosh it’s not that I like EVERYTHING. You can prefer a different use of music instruments, vocal filters or whatever. But for ffs, it make me laugh my ass off when people declare the “end of this band” because (and I’m paraphrasing) “this is way too pop and shitty kind of pop”, the lyrics are too bad and it’s a fact”, “this cannot give any emotion to anyone” and so on. Please tell what a song like KYE added to the history of this band, or even to the history of music, lol. Everyone is entitled to dislike these songs, the use of electronic music components, falsetto, or whatsoever, but geez, this might be too pop but I bet y’all were loving 21 Guns when it came out. You know, this band is not Pink Floyd and 21CB is not The Wall, and if you think rock music has to be complicated to be good, it might shock you but Green Day has produced pop music since 1994. Someone said something like “it’s not the same, that was Green Day creating their own genre, this is just flatting out on existing pop”. Well, I think that’s absolutely wrong, this is them using existing genres in a smart and unique way as they didn’t do since 2004 to me. I even read people complaining because GD apparently is not allowed to make music similar to FBHT cause that’s a side project. G-E-E-Z. Damn, if this music doesn’t give you any emotion it doesn’t me it doesn’t give any emotion to the rest of the world. You can dislike it ffs, but this elitist gatekeeping attitude that label as a fact its opinion about this record and music in general sometimes is fucking annoying. You make me fucking hope the next 7 songs are a weird mix of new wave, hip hop and foxboro hot tubs. Accept that the band likes stuff you don’t, that they made music you don’t like, and accept that this doesn’t make it automatically bad for everyone else. Sorry for the unrequested rant. I’ll go back to enjoy these songs, which by the way listened in sequence are a total banger ❤️

  18. I'm in serious trouble right now. This era is going to be the end of me if Billie continues to look this fucking amazing and beautiful (and he will), so I have to prepare myself. How? I have no clue.

  21. I just heard FOAM on the radio and listening to it randomly, it sounds like a perfectly good Green Day song. With the perk that people who hate them can enjoy it too because it's not so immediately recognizable thanks to the falsetto

  23. Disclaimers first: I am not making any comparisons And I don’t know what went before but Can you imagine what a Beatles forum like this would have been like the day Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band dropped? I bet it would have been hilarious 😂

  28. To be honest, the new songs aren't doing much for me, but then they aren't written for me. Billie, Mike and Tre wrote them for themselves and maybe as a fuck you to everyone else, and that's punk at its basic level. Doing what you want to do and not caring about the reaction or reception, it doesn't get much more punk than that. It may not sound as the 'old' Green Day did, but, in terms of punk, the mentality of the music is 100% there and you can't deny that, even if you don't like the songs.

  31. No one knows about future albums, but this is definitely not a troll album. Billie just said that they could potentially release something new in a short time, since if a new deal is not signed, they can essentially do whatever they want with their music. But about the WB/going independent thing, also we don’t know nothing at the moment, they said they were negotiating their deal with Warner. We don’t know how that went/if it is still happening. And we don’t know if leaving Warner means going independent.

  32. These songs haven’t ruined my Green Day fandom or anything, but fuck Butch Walker and fuck Crush Management.

  33. Exactly, at any show a large portion of the audience won't have seen them before and it's cool to get to see the songs that have long standing traditions and antics attached to them (it would also be a shame if for example they didn't close with Good Riddance for this reason). Plus it's just genuinely my favourite song to see live . Seen it a few times now and I won't ever be bored of it, it's hilarious.

  37. Lmao I feel like I can be a huge rock purist myself, but only because that's my personal taste... but sometimes, I mean, most of the time, it just gets way too extra. Like, when it really comes down to it, let people enjoy whatever music they want, y'know? Haha. _____________ On a new general note. I feel like GD will never become "pop" in the truest sense no matter what they did with their musical style, just bc the average person would, going off of their knowledge from 2005, (as that was probably when they were most "popular" and even that normie popularity came from the perception of them being "edgy" imo) still associate them with more of an alternative scene for the same reasons. So it's ok ppl! You don't have to "worry" about normies attacking

  38. Oh god, flashbacks to my initial write-off of Dookie as a kid because I thought at the time that it sounded too "upbeat and happy." Fell completely in love with it years later. Imagine if GD had retired earlier when ppl didn't like their stuff, we wouldn't have all the great content we have now

  39. Oh Yeah- Out of the 3 songs this was the one I liked instantly. I like the video. I'm looking forward to hearing a live version. FOAM- Took me a few listens to like this song, but I love it. It sounds sick live. Looking forward to properly hearing it live when I see GD. FRA- Fits the brief of being an advert jingle. I love to bop along to this song therefore I'm thinking that it'll make a great addition to my exercise playlist.
