Am I the only one here who is waiting to see the video and hear the new single before writing them off? I love this forum but jeez guys, some of you sound like bad tempered old farts at times! Open your minds and chill and who knows, you may love them.27 points

So you guys have a problem with this song before you even hear a note of it because a rapper appears in the music video? Geez.24 points

Billie's ass will be the focus of the winter.19 points

A black person??? In MY Green Day video??? That's how y'all sound.19 points

Is 72 different shots of BJA's bare ass. I have my sources.18 points

In case you don't know this is an offensive/racist word to use to describe a black person. You shouldn't use it. Edit: Post above explains the same thing. But yeah. Also FYI it's better to just refer to a person as...a person or a guy or a dude etc than mention their race for no reason. It comes off as racist to do that.18 points

Pretty sure the use of the word "negro" was. Green Day fans clutching their pearls over rappers is pretty dumb and ignorant though. Nothing new unfortunately. But it's usually a snobby rock fan thing imo, if it was some white rapper comments would be similar. People literally freaked out over Billie doing a song with The Lonely Island lol14 points

I don't think it was. I really don't think it was. The nonstop hate for the guy all based off of "he's a rapper and he's black" with no idea if he actually has anything to do with the song or the video is pretty awful.11 points

We must have the same source. Thanks for ruining the surprise!10 points

My full recap is finally up on GDA http://www.greendayauthority.com/news/5968/ Some more photos I don't remember which photos I've posted and where... sorry if I'm double posting or reposting what I've posted in another thread A few bits I'll add here - Love is for Losers is such a fucking good album. They could play the title track all night and I wouldn't get bored. This show proved to me it's totally possible to hold a DSLR all night and dance and jump as much as I would without one. I'm obviously not as excited about the other bands I've photographed! I got this setlist but it's definitely not an accurate reflection of what they played10 points

Remember the days when we would just talk about the album in this thread? I miss those days10 points

Might be, on his story Billie wrote music video tomorrow so you are probably right. Sorry for the OT, but just to underline how different languages and cultures can create misunderstandings and wrong perceptions, in Italian the use of the word “race” to describe someone’s ethnicity or cultural background is considered racist (since biologically there’s no such thing as human races and that’s perceived as following the fascist/nazist race ideology). Just to say that in the beginning I also struggled to adapt to the English/American way to approach such things, and it’s understandable that someone from a very different background can make mistakes in such an international online community (it’s also part of GDC’s beauty, isn’t it?) Now, you just come out as an idiot repeating that, you know?10 points

Do you mean the meteorological winter or the astronomical winter? I have to calibrate by Billie’s-ass-defector accordingly.9 points

If there was rap on the song, it would say on the back cover of the album, Oh Yeah featuring "Some Rapper's Name". It would say it on the iTunes too. Im confident this is just a video appearance.9 points
-
There's such a thing as language/cultural differences I understand. But yeah now you know. If you're describing someone's race "black" is the correct word. But unless there's a particular reason to mention someone's race just refer to them as a person/guy/dude etc, no need to bring their race into it here.9 points

The person who didn't know is Russian and learning English. "Negro" is literally just the word for black in several languages. Yes believe it or not there are people who aren't from English speaking countries who are unaware of its meaning or significance in the English speaking world. You can clearly see I addressed both posts right here in the thread. Verbal warning for the offensive language (including a verbal warning point for the second person since they were being deliberately inflammatory) and if they were to continue with it they'd be warned just like anyone is warned when they continue to do something after a mod asked them to stop. Literally every time anything involving rap is close to Green Day, Green Day fans freak out about it. It's just a fact. There's snobs everywhere but rock fans being snobby about rap is very prevalent.8 points

Judging before listening or knowing it's synonymous of ignorance, in my opinion. We have waited until today, can we wait until midnight to listen to this song and have a concrete idea? 🥳8 points
-
You used a racist and offensive expression, as far as I know in Russian it’s not considered as such (I hope so at least), and you probably just google translated the Russian word, but in English and many other languages it has a really really bad connotation.8 points

I think they would've mentioned about featured rap artist in the Q Magazine's album review. There's nothing about that.7 points
-
Everyone is like "don't worry there's no rap" but you know, the problem is that no rap being there doesn't automatically make it good7 points
-
I never thought i would see such racism on a GREEN DAY Fan forum. I’m 100% black and been in this group for years. Smh7 points
-
Can you not? Pretty clear this was a language based misunderstanding. I think we can move on now.7 points

Ok, I don't know why I am torturing myself this way, but from now on I am going offline from all Green Day news for a few months, and will do my phd exams. And then - BAM, I make my consciousness altered, I invite my girlfriend, and I listen to the FOAM front to back, and I write the experience report on GDC. Wish me luck, this is going to be tough. And I hope you all enjoy this album at least as much as Dos or Uno! God fucking love you all, I'll be back.7 points

okay yeah, I'd love to hear Nightlife with Tre doing the rap verses6 points
-
God, in the Q review they never mentioned anything about 'rap' vibes. Calm down6 points
-
wow. you are trash. and acting like you didn't know using the word "negro" was racist is hilarious. language barrier or not, it is 2020. cut the shit out. it's also fucked up to be so pissed and saying the song will suck because you've seen a few pictures of an african american in the video. get over yourself.6 points
-
Hopefully it has a silly Holiday type of vibe!6 points

I think he’s gonna lip sync in the car the oh yeah oh yeah part of the song, sampled from the Joan Jett recording, which kinda sounds like an arena choir also in the original, it could fit that situation in the video if it’s mixed in a proper way Seeing Mike with the security outfit makes me think the video has some sort of plot and is not just the band playing and Billie riding a car, and I really hope so I really prefer videos with some sort of story going on in the background6 points

Exactly, I believe Billie expressed many times his appreciation for genres fluidity, and even more importantly we are not Billie 😁 Only because someone in this community doesn’t like hip hop, this doesn’t mean that any choice that goes against someone’s music taste it’s a desperate move to stay relevant or whatever. Billie can like stuff and people that we don’t, it should not be a crime6 points

I know very little about Tyla (except he has an awesome name 😂) but just because he loves rap doesn’t mean he can’t like rock too. It seems to me they met somewhere and hit it off, I would guess at this point it just seemed like fun to have him in the video in some role or other.6 points

Yo, Big Tre Swag in da house, oh yeah ich leibe bratwursten no man can eat 50 eggs I reside in my rock n' roll life **commences with a few close-up shots of Tre with his arms crossed, glaring into the camera, wearing chains with huge dollar sign pendants, BJ and Mike behind him wearing full suits and sunglasses and carrying walkie talkies, like bodyguards, on either side of him**5 points

So the only thing that makes sense out of your words would be UTC time, the one that astronauts on the International Space Station use. Which would also explain why I've been feeling like I'm floating in empty space ever since FOAM was announced.5 points

He could collab with a pop artist too. I think doesn’t necessarily have to be rock. He loves genre fluency so there is no just one genre anyway and this kind of discrimination doesn’t fit today’s music5 points

Finished editing my photos. I love them so much I'm sharing some more Thanks! It was great. It was also probably the weirdest show I've been to4 points

We haven't. The person who posted it was confusing a theory with fact. The theory is that it contains clips from when they recorded FOAM and the band would make it public once the album release. I have been told that is not what the account is/contains.4 points
