  5. I just heard FOAM on the radio for the first time and you know what??? I like it a lot more than I thought? Maybe I shouldn't have listened to it on my phone first, because it got a lot better on a less crappy device. Anyway, I'm slightly more hyped now

  7. You think FOAMF is bad? You should’ve seen my face when I actually paid attention to the lyrics for “No Sleep ‘til Brooklyn” by the Beastie Boys. It hurt that I liked a song with those lyrics, but it was a kick ass tune, so I let it go. As long as they don’t start bragging about their money, talking about “hos”, and street cred, I think you’re fine.

  8. I had kind of hoped that would happen with me too, but so far, no. I came to realize that I like the lyrics though. The "And it's so hysterical, crackin' up under the pressure, looking for a miracle" and "lying in a bed of blood and money"-part is actually pretty brilliant. Those lyrics in a song I like would break my heart, I guess.

  9. I think he talked about mikes basses on their rig rundown from around the trilogy. I remember seeing some sort of interview or article where either gd or him spoke about having him play a song with them on the rev rad tour

  11. The Rolling Stone interview is pretty clear that he's an alcoholic. "His trip to rehab for alcoholism and addiction to prescription medications" "I was a functioning alcoholic" "Is there a history of alcoholism in your family?" "And you’re doing it through alcoholism" So yeah, since that's a fact he willingly shared and isn't actually up to us to debate, it's understandable that fans worry sometimes. I also think it's understandable some people feel uncomfortable with the "alcoholics can still drink" rhetoric that always comes up in these discussions because sure, it works for a minority, but it can also make others think drinking is safe when it's not. The problem is that we don't know how Billie personally is doing. We don't know if he's doing great. We don't know if he's doing terribly. We don't know what kind of conclusions he and his doctors came to and if he's in that minority who can still drink or not. We don't know if he decided he wasn't an alcoholic after all. Even if we think we can see something, it's still not really our place to go any further than "I'm worried" - and there isn't actually any point because we can't truly know. We don't need to talk down to people who are worried, we just need to remind them it's not our business to discuss it.

  15. Yeah that made me a bit uncomfortable too as did the speed of the photographer's shutter when Mike then Billie appeared! Am I the only one to just notice that the dark haired guy who helped out with the guitars on the RevRad Tour was Eden Galindo of Eagles of Death Metal or am I mistaken? I always thought he looked very much like Inge that played guitar for Against Me (and they both remind me of someone I used to work with!)

  16. It's the first time I see this shirt and I love it! It's not black or white and it has other colors too - what's not to love
    1 point
  17. Well yeah, that's what I said. We can't know how he's doing. But people were debating whether or not he's an alcoholic and that debate doesn't need to happen, since he's stated he is. The point isn't that we should be doing the worrying. It's that it's inevitable some fans will panic every now and then, but it should stop there. Not because of what we think his personal life is like or whether or not it's invasive, but because it's pointless when we can't know. Billie hasn't said he isn't alright so that's what we should go by. Also, sorry because I don't want to drag this out more, but just on the subject of addiction in general - people around addicts can't necessarily stop them relapsing. Nor can an addict's love for the people around them. It's unfair to expect them to and addicts should stay clean for themselves, not others. Again, I'm not saying this in relation to Billie. I just don't want anyone dealing with addiction to feel bad since an addict's behaviour is out of their hands. If anyone wants to continue discussing alcoholism itself, not Billie's situation, we can take it to the Addiction Thread.

  18. Oakland Coffee is included in this gift guide: The Best Coffee and Beers for 2019 http://exclaim.ca/music/article/exclaim_gift_guide_the_best_coffee_and_beers_for_2019 The holidays are the time for beverages. Whether warming up by the fire with a steaming mug of java or reconnecting with family and friends over beers, there's always a lot of drinks going around at this time of year. To add a little kick in this year's beverage choices, here are some of the best brews that will make a great present. 19. In my mind the question is not whether he’s an alcoholic. It’s whether the way he is dealing with it is working for him. And only he and the people close to him know the answer to that. Knowing Joey, if he senses his dad is going off the rails he won’t take no for an answer until he goes back to rehab. He has lots of people right now who are more aware of his issues and will make sure he gets help if he needs it. And Billie loves those people with all his heart and is not going to risk those relationships. I have faith in them and I think we should let them do the worrying.

  21. Nope, self medicating and heavy drinking does not mean you have alcoholism. It's not textbook. You can drink heavily for years without being dependent on the alcohol.. And you can quit...and then drink less. Its usually not the alcohol that is the thing, but its an easy med. I have a long line of heavy drinkers behind me as well. And maybe 1 or 2 of those had alcoholism*. Its different. What bothers me is not the concern for Billie as a fan, but this discussion has to see an end. Stop the judging and analysis of someone who none of us really knows anyway. Let the man hold a beer bottle without shitting ourselfs.

  24. Thats cruel. Pretty sure Billie has never confirmed that he suffers from alcoholism. And if he did, its not something we would know enough about to talk about like that anyway. He looks good and seems to be doing great. Enjoy.

  25. Anyone else feel weird watching footage like this, where the guys are not "on"? Because we're used to seeing them performing or interviewing, Billie and Mike seem pissed off here. But they're not, they're just being normal human beings! The people yelling for Billie was a particularly uncomfortable moment for me. I was thinking Billie could run up there, say hello and hang out with them, etc. He didn't, but maybe he has before and this is simply the hundred-millionth time he's been through this, and he's got a job to do. Not a jerk, just trying to do something. Love the twilight (ZONE!) shirt. Another thing in this video that I've never seen (for the same reason) is Billie and Mike not being connected at the hip. You don't even think about that when watching or listening to Green Day, but they probably do their own thing a lot of the time on tour.

  31. I agree that vocally AAF is better than BIAB, but I even prefer Rev Rad vocally. He's always sung right but then I guess it's the tone of his voice that has evolved with age that I prefer. Longer shows during RevRad also tended to bring him a more deep and strained voice that is my favorite. Since the new era and even since the Longshot he's mostly had a voice closer to studio version or to his speaking voice, clearer, shriller. Not that I don't like it. But it's not the best for me @UNICORN VOMIT why why did you react sad to my previous comment? What point ?
