  1. Ok so obviously I can’t say much but I will say this: OUR BOYS ARE F**KING BACK!

  2. Hey all, just an fyi. The band and management are just as confused and surprised by this. It certainly is not coming from the band or anyone attached to the band! We are scrambling to figure it out as well! Bill Schneider

  3. Ok so yes now that the cat is FINALLY out of the bag, I was fortunate enough to be an extra in the video and the experience was f**king surreal and incredible all at once. (I don't appear to be readily visible in the video but I need to do a more thorough freeze framing to be sure 😅). A few personal highlights: -Arriving at the studio and seeing Tre right away chatting it up with someone in full zombie garb was an amazing preview of things to come -Many of us were in line for makeup as Billie, Mike, and Tre were just getting done with theirs (yes as zombies), and we gave a cheer/round of applause to the boys as they headed back to their dressing room. They seemed appreciative about the reception! -Arriving on set after a couple of hours of being in holding/makeup, I was blown away by the scale of everything. We were all gathered in front of the band's stage waiting for shooting to start, when they started playing TADIKM for the first (of many) times over the loudspeakers. It took me about 5 seconds after the chorus hit to realize "oh yes our boys are definitely back" and eventually many fans/extras were singing it in between takes. I also thought (and still think) this should be the tour opener as it fires up a crowd as good as anything. So yeah, it was a super fun experience and really felt like I was in a dream being in this zombie world with Green Day playing a brand new song on stage just in front of us over and over (for those who asked, no other songs were played). And the craft services/catering provided were very nice too!

  5. Ok going to make one more comment to add just a touch of clarity: BASED ON ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AT ALL, I think the majority of folks here are going to be happy on the 24th (especially if you have been disappointed with the band’s recent output). And I am further convinced the Rob Cavallo effect is real (again, based on absolutely nothing at all). 🙂

  7. Hello everyone my name is Jeremy Schaftel you may have seen some video's that I posted to my YouTube channel. I'm going to be sharing even more rarer video's and certain other exclusives here. Evidently I cannot upload these to YouTube as certain people will file a CC and take down my channel. My prefered method of sharing is uploading to Google Drive and then share a direct download link in this thread. Can someone confirm this all ok?. Thanks Jeremy

  8. The Ultimate Test is NOT the Network. It’s actually called “Sound the Alarm” by the band Viva Death. We can put this to rest and focus on the REAL Network songs now Sorry to burst the bubble! https://youtu.be/Ix5opq7Mpu0 The other two “leaked” songs are also by this band

  9. Drunk Billie ruined the release of two albums, postponed a tour, had a public breakdown and went to rehab. Nobody should "want" that back

  13. I’m normally just a lurker here but I just wanted to clear some things up: 1. I’m not Jason Tate, I’m Jason Holmes but I did run greenday.net long ago. 2. I didn’t say my source confirmed that the album isn’t done, I said it kinda sounded that way and it also came across that way in the Cavallo interview 3. I only confirmed what Cavallo already revealed about the 2024 release date, it wasn’t some “insider” breaking news. 4. I really hate being called an “insider” 5. I would never put information out as fact that I didn’t believe was rock solid. If I had any doubt, I’d make sure to note that. If this info ends up being wrong it’s because they changed plans but I’m 100% confident it’s the current plan.

  14. Besides just loving the guitar on this song and the sound mixing. I went to treatment for alcoholism in August, relapsed in October and went back to treatment. I just got out of that rehab yesterday and moved into sober living. Hell, I just left my day treatment meeting and put on this song for the first time. I’m in love with it.

  15. Want to use this moment when it's "calm before the storm" to say thank you to @GDFan2019 During the last 2 years you've been keeping that candle just a little bit lit when the rest of us couldn't. I truly admire the optimism you've had all the way - this thread would be nothing without your contribution 🙌

  18. This discussion is off topic and needs to end now. As Clockwise put it there is no debate, trans rights are human rights. Just like the people who thought it was "common sense" not to let black and white people have the same rights in the 60s, then later the people who thought it was "common sense" not to give gay people the same rights, it is bigots on the wrong side of history now crying "common sense" to justify their transphobia. There are too many transphobic comments in this thread already and I don't want to see any more in this thread or on this site. Anyone making any more transphobic comments will be suspended. And I ask that everyone stop posting about this topic now regardless of your position. Posts about the upcoming album only from here please.

  19. My show recaps are often a collection of my thoughts throughout the gig and little details I picked up and things I noticed. So here goes. I left Madison at 7:30 in the morning and got to the venue by 10:00, good for #14 in line. When I got there, the majority of people ahead of me did not have tickets. Many had traveled from out of state. Even by the time doors opened, a few people ahead of me still did not have tickets and were going to try to plead once they got inside. Wisely, they moved out of the way to let some ticket holders by. There was no warm act and no hype song, although some members of the crowd sang Bohemian Rhapsody on their own which was amusing. Obviously the band deviated from the setlist after just two songs, with Billie calling Revolution Radio instead of KYE. I think that caught the band by surprise as Kevin rushed out from behind the cabs and onto the stage just in time. This would become a common theme throughout the set, with Billie either calling the next song after referencing the setlist or just seemingly deciding on his own. Earlier in the set, I think either just before or just after Longview, Billie called the next song to Tré and it was evident that Tré was trying to catch his breath - he mouthed to Billie “I’m tired!”. He was an absolute workhorse all night. I saw him taping a finger between songs - probably blisters. Tré drums hard. I’m pretty sure he added some new fills that I hadn’t heard before into a couple of songs. I thought the three song Kerplunk sequence would be my favorite moment of the show - that is, until Billie Joe tuned down his guitar and started Whatsername. I was completely in shock when they started it - no way in a million years did I ever think I would hear that song live. Interesting that it wasn’t on the printed setlist, so I wonder what inspired them to play it. Maybe it was always planned - we can only speculate. Billie was definitely red-eyed for most of the song, not unlike the BIAB performance of Wake Me Up When September Ends. A very, very emotional performance of Whatsername, one that I’ll never forget. They just kept playing and playing and playing! 10 songs in and it felt like they had been playing forever, just due to the sheer excitement and the unknown as to what would come next. It felt like it would never end. When Billie called out JAR, the gentleman who I believe to be the band’s head of security pulled a setlist out of his pocket and looked at it in confusion, as if to say “when will this end?”. That was a really funny moment that made me laugh out loud. And still two songs followed! I recorded Too Dumb To Die (my favorite from RevRad) and Church On Sunday, both of which I will post to YouTube and link here in this thread. Wow, what a show - I’m still trying to process it all. A dream setlist, one that probably won’t be topped anytime soon. This will go down as an all-time show for sure. Incredibly lucky and grateful to have witnessed it! Thanks for reading and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

  22. What's up guys, Green Day here releasing a totally new and exciting album. This album is not at all derivative, we're challenging ourselves to reach new fans and old fans alike. Here we go, happy start of a new band era day!

  23. I think Green Day made a great move hiring the Baxleys for their videos this cycle. All of the videos have had a really clear artistic vision and were very well executed. They each told a story of the song that helped elevate it. As art, they complement the songs in the way that videos should at their best. By contrast, the FOAM videos were a mess. The scrapped FOAM video led to a boring performance shoot with B roll that did nothing for the song. Oh Yeah was okay, but it didn’t help me to understand what the song was about very much, and FRA was basically hockey promo. Without one directing team behind all the videos, the results lacked cohesion. What we’re seeing now is something completely different, similar to the way Sam Bayer made a great collection of videos for AI that all went together. Hats off to Alice and Ryan Baxley and welcome to the Green Day fam!

  26. Honestly, kudos to Billie for doing this song and video. I remember him saying back in the Revarad days that it’s scary writing songs that come from a personal place, but I think the song did a great job at detailing the struggles of addiction. i first listened on Spotify and thought it was fine, but one the second listen while watching the music video, i got goosebumps. Truly a great video

  27. Here's the flow of events that is frustrating to me: 1. Green Day records a song and decides not to release it 2. Song leaks 3. Fans find out it leaks and go crazy over wanting it, expecting it to be the second coming of Jesus Christ. 4. Fans get their hands on it 5. Fans bitch and complain that it isn't great and the band has completely lost it Gee, I wonder why the band decided to not release it...

  28. Reports coming out that Green Day have had to cancel the remaining dates of Hella Mega due to a scheduling conflict. It is believed that this is due to the fact that Billie Joe is gearing up to return to his annual month long slumber in September. I'll keep this updated if we get any further updates.

  29. I recorded the listening party on voice memos as I’m sure a lot of people will over the next day or so. Here’s my review. The American Dream Is Killing me is in no way representative of the complete album. You can really tell that this was the last song recorded. Bobby Sox is a big highlight for me. If you’re a fan of Fidlar or Weezer you’ll really like this one. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this is the next single. Heavy and really beautiful melody. I really like it. 1981 rules. Definitely sounds like it could be from Cigarettes and Valentines or Nimrod. Classic Green Day sound right here. Goodnight Adeline starts slow and builds into another heavy track with sweet and soft lyrics as expected. Coma City starts with a riff in a similiar vein to 99 Revolutions or a Blink 182 riff. Great fucking ending with the band jamming out and Tre going ham. Another highlight for me. The breakdown from this is one of the very early teaser snippets that was released way back when. I’ll post the Instagram video to this later. Corvette City is a just a straight up fun song. Probably won’t ever get played live but it’s a lot of fun. Mid tempo rock and roll with cowbell! Has a slight country twang to the chorus! Certainly won’t be a single but it’s fun. Susie Chapstick has a melancholy feel to it. “Not even the drugs seem to work” “Do you just want me to go away?”. Gives off Nimrod/Warning vibes but also in a league of its own. Strange Days are Here to Stay is a classic Green Day sounding song. Trilogy vibes with a much better production. Love the palm muting and melody on this one. Living in the 20’s is a fucking ripping tune. Imagine Horsehoes and Handgrenades and Walking Contradiction had a baby. Don’t understand the initial negative reviews for this one? It rules. Father to a Son is a beautiful track. Can see this one getting played towards the end of their upcoming sets. Beautiful melodies and strings. Tears inbound. Saviors features Billie singing through a telephone esq filter for the verses and transitions in a big chorus “Calling all Saviors!” It’s good but nothing special to me at the moment. Maybe it’ll grow on me. Fancy Sauce is the soft acoustic riff we saw Billie playing on the Instagram teasers ages ago. Been looking forward to hearing this song for what seems like forever. Transitions in a bigger sounding song for the chorus. “We all die young someday”. Some funny and wacky lyrics on this one as well. “Watch the evening news cos it’s my favourite cartoon” “Going to join a cult, do a somersault”. It’s a slower finisher but still big and loud. Anyways those are my initial thoughts!! Go out there and enjoy the listening parties everybody!
