  1. I thought Billie sounded great on the tour and I was absolutely in awe of how much energy he had on stage, I think they're doing extremely well for their age.

  2. I’ve had the most hellish week, and it’s incredible how coming back to this thread and seeing these pictures of Billie makes everything I’ve been struggling with lately seem so minuscule. I can’t explain it...just seeing that pretty face of his makes me feel rejuvenated. Seeing everything that you guys have to say about Mike, Tre, and Billie in particular is another thing that really lifts me up. It’s so reassuring to see how many of you have been touched by the members of Green Day the way I have. I regret spending so much time away from this website because having such wonderful people to communicate with brings me so much pleasure. I almost always log out feeling overwhelmed with appreciation and joy. I apologize for subjecting everyone to another one of my off-topic rants, but I feel so fortunate to have such lovely people to fangirl with/vent to, and I just wanted to quickly express that.

  3. Exactly how I feel! As long as they are giving it their all and having a great time doing it, who cares if it's a bit off! Hell, he looks and sounds better than I will at that age!

  4. I disagree with these. Stray Heart is practically my fave from Dos. It is one of the songs I prefer to hear album version though. About the 1st line in Forever Now, it's an indirect but clear avowal of alcoholism, he uses a well-known phrase (but wouldn't it be more cringy to say 'My name is Billie and I'm alcoholic'?) and he just starts out with the feeling of being lost, scared, insecure, not knowing what to do, in short everything that's resumed in 'freaking out', admitting it's related to his addiction. I don't see what's so cringy about it... It's very raw and simple, and I like it. And yeah, hearing him say and sing his name is cool and the way the song evolves is genius! About Drama Queen, I think Billie's singing voice is amazing. His lyrics are daring, but great I think. Billie is really gifted with slow songs. I agree. Although I've kept loving more and more Oh Love, it wasn't immediate. While I fell in love with the three you mention right away. About the eternal subject of the setlist, I think it's not a matter of laziness, and that they work a lot to do the shows the way they do. I really love it, the hey-hos (which demand quite some breath to Billie, and audience participation is awesome! I remember when people sang the hey-hos on their own during Stay The Night when it was played with The Longshot... it was beautiful!), the rants, everything. They do it the way they want to and their energy and stage presence, especially Billie's, is amazing. Also, I think it's good that they only stick to some constant songs because it's their choice, and not because all the others are bad, which is totally not the case. Unpopular opinion: I often read that RevRad was a 'safe' record for them... I don't know what that's supposed to mean, like, what wouldn't be safe, as long as it's new? each song on RevRad is unique. I really don't see something that resembles Somewhere and Forever Now, Bang Bang or Still Breathing for instance in their previous albums. They're just making new stuff and giving each album its own identity.

  5. @Scumbag On A Mission I'm sorry you are having a bad time, life can just suck sometimes, one of the reasons we all love to have this band and forum to come back, it's sometimes little things that help us deal with the bigger shit! @Green Day In Seattle that was pretty amazing to share. I don't think you need to worry, I think there is still a big step between having a fan thing going and true, full blown obsession. I think you will already know that there are many of us on here with husbands/wives/partners whatever so yes, it is perfectly possible to maintain a normal relationship but feel pretty strong emotions for a man on the other side of the world (at least for me) and who we probably won't ever meet. Lots of people have a "big thing" in their life which is separated off to a degree, whether it's football, golf or love of a band. Try not to worry so much!

  6. You're not alone! Let me share these bits from my journal from 7 years ago before I found this site. I've been wanting to for awhile now anyway, but just haven't yet because it's very personal. Now seems like the right time, though. GDC literally changed my life. I'll spoiler it because it's a little long.

  8. Same for me. I don't care if Billie loses a little bit of his voice. I just want them to give their best every night.

  11. I just wanna say, since I've known Green Day, I'm much more opened up to everything and everyone else. It makes me find the best in me. I speak of my passion for Billie to other people, but whatever their reaction, I know what it brings to me, and it's what matters. It doesn't mean I'm not feeling down or depressed sometimes but GD is my shelter then. The best! I have a few more pics of those never thought I could love seeing someone's back teeth at that point!

  13. I think I'll have to disagree with you there @MiksuSH. While I have argued in the past that Billie's voice has worsened quite considerably in terms of tone since the 21CB tour, I think it's less down to age per se and more down to lack of adaptive technic. He isn't taking care of it as much as he should and not stimulating the vocal chords to counteract some of the effects of ageing and the prior drugs/drinking. He also might well have got used to singing a certain way, when drunk or on drugs, but then not adapted his technic, now that he's sober and older. However, despite a difference in tone and slight pitch-problems, he is still more than capable of singing his songs and is one of the best sounding and consistent front-men of his age group, to this day. As to them not being able to play fast songs anymore, I strongly disagree with you on that one. Tre certainly looked a little tired and exhausted on the last tour, most probably a combination of ageing and lack of exercise, but he played the songs flawlessly. In fact, he's more consistent with his tempo now than ever.

  14. I don't mind what style of video it is so much but I LOVE when they act in videos themselves (as opposed to just playing the song and leaving acting to actors), it's always awesome and means you see another dimension of them as artists/performers.

  15. I think that crappy phone recording on Youtube is the only version online unfortunately. What bothers me even more is the fact that they played it at Reading Festival in 2004, which was pro shot but only a few of the songs from the set were actually aired and the Buzzcocks cover wasn't one of them, so there's probably some pro shot footage of it out there that we might never see.

  16. Didn't realise how many there were until you said this! Yeah why not, I'll split them Update: "Billie Joe's campfire" posts are split (added a couple that didn't have the hashtag but fit the description too): So let's post/discuss them there if he posts more

  17. Yeah I agree a few songs changed up would be cool. For me personally I don't find it important though. I've seen KFAD 4 times and I'll be happy to keep seeing it . They change various things about it so it isn't exactly the same, and on the last tour they streamlined it quite a bit.

  20. I don't think it's a given that changing up the setlist a lot would equal a better show. The way they've put it together and gradually evolved it over the years means they've kind of perfected it, they have the rhythm/atmosphere of the different songs down and play a specific selection/order so that the vibe goes from energetic to quieter etc correctly. With all the effects, different stuff they do during each song and crowd interaction etc it's very complex and a lot of hard work and playing different setlists each night would mean they'd have to sacrifice a lot of that and play a different type of show. The way they currently do it (and have always done it) they knock it out the park every night. Knowing they have that setlist 100% down might benefit them massively in other aspects of putting on the show.

  21. So I don't mind the hey-ohs or Billie's speeches, even if I have heard them before. When I'm right there in the moment, it's perfect and it gets me pumped up. I'm loving every second of it because it's one big party. But I really want them to switch up the setlist. Don't get me wrong, I love hearing the best cuts from AI and Dookie, but they've played them so much. I'd really like to hear more from Insomniac or Warning. They have so much great material that they're just not playing. And that's what made the club tour so special. They took more chances with the setlist and it just sucks that they think if they leave off AI or JOS for a show, people will flip. I just really want to see some changes in the setlist. That being said it won't prevent me from seeing them live again. They put on an amazing show and I'm just smiling the whole time.

  22. I don't mind the hey-ohs or speeches at all. It's easy to get into the spirit when I'm there. They were similar at all my shows but not exactly the same. If they'd play more songs instead I wouldn't complain, but all of it has already been cut to almost half the time since the 21st Century Breakdown Tour and they're not playing more songs, the show is just shorter. Which is fine - they're almost 50 and still put on the most energetic show I've ever seen. If it's between more time on stage with hey-ohs or an even shorter show, I'll definitely take the former! I also appreciate in this case as one of the best live bands out there they know better than I do anyway.

  23. I love the hey ohs, all the extra stuff, and don't mind the structured setlist. Bring it on! I love GD shows. To call them "lazy" is crazy to me, playing the long and theatrical shows they do with so much energy and involvement of the crowd is no way more "lazy" than bands that play different setlists but just stand there playing through the songs and not much else. It's a different approach but not a lazier approach, there's more to a show than playing as many different songs as possible.

  24. Billie is perfect in every way. I love everything about him, but his eyes are still my favorite part of his body. I am not a tattoo person, but Billlie's tattoos look great on him. I can't think of Billie without them anymore. It's a part of him, they show who he is. I love the Punx tattoos on his hand and his bellie. I'm so happy to have been able to see the one on his bellie last year at the Longshot concert. He raised his guitar and his shirt moved just enough so I was able to see the tattoo. Good and precious souvenir.

  25. His eyes look very dilated to me in that picture. Must have been dark. I can only see the green if I look really hard. 🤷‍♀️ Check out these eyes! The lighting in this photo is just perfect all around. He looks so beautiful and ethereal. ❤️

  27. Yeah, I imagine standing up and saying "my name is X and I'm an alcoholic" can feel awkward and embarrassing and that's what I get from that line. Then as the song ends he's overcome that to accept "how did a life on the wild side ever get so full?" and "I ain't gonna stand in line no more." It's like a journey of self-discovery. I get how at first glance it seems awful but thinking about the deeper meaning, I can see why Billie called it one of the most personal lines he's ever written.

  28. I think it's almost supposed to be "cringy" or at least uncomfortable to an extent, in that it's just a really open and humble way of starting off what he's going to say. Also it's just fun to hear him say his name in a song . I love hearing it.

  33. It's weird though because pop punk bands that say they're inspired by Green Day don't even sound like them. They all sound more like Blink 182/Southern Californian bands. Green Day aren't the ones responsible for what came to be that generic pop punk sound that those bands share, they don't sound like that.

  34. I love Dos. I mean I'm one of the few who love the entire trilogy but Dos is actually my second favourite Green Day album. I think it captured what Billie was going for perfectly. I even like Nightlife

  43. You have to look at it from the point of view of a casual fan. If I want to listen to a band that’s been around for years and has a ton of albums but I only know a few songs, I’ll always start with a greatest hits collection as my way in. Often that’s all I’ll listen to because many bands have only a few good songs per album so a greatest hits is a way to cut to the chase and just focus on the good stuff. The fact that Green Day didn’t have a greatest hits release that included AI songs left a big hole in their catalogue. They happen to sell very well, they’re just not for the biggest fans who already listen to the albums in full.
