  1. LoL, Jeannot Lapin. Billie looks cute with those bunny ears. The second time I saw Green Day, it was inside the Bell Centre, which is a arena. It was the first time that I was seeing a concert there without any big screen. And lucky as I am, the ticket I got was at one of the extremity of the ice rink, while the stage was at the other extremity. I would have loved to have big screens. Like my friend said, the entire band looked like they had shrinked in a dryer because of where we were. This is what the stage looked like during the 21st Century Breakdown tour. I don't think it was annoying. I liked it. It wasn't something like a video moving so fast. It was just a set up to go with the album. And I prefer this than having a wall of spotlights flashing in your eyes (Tokio Hotel did this and it was really annoying).

  2. I honestly have no idea. This is just what my mom told me every since I was little. @Jane Lannister @pacejunkie punk @Maddie86 So I just called my mom about this and she was WAY off for time frame. She said she met him while she was pregnant with my brother in '95 😂 my brother was born mid 1995 so her time frame was waaaaaayyyy off! I told her that's after Dookie and her old ass was stubborn. "no I swear it was before!" 🙃 so I'm really sorry for the weirdness and the inconsistency. You guys are right - my mom is old. 😂

  3. I actually think the projection screens are a bit distracting and take away from the experience. I like the show to be about the band and the music, not fancy visuals. Yes, his makeup artist was very good, that's true. But can I add, since he wears makeup virtually anytime he's on stage, we're used to seeing him that way and as a result would notice any age/flaws despite the makeup. Does that make sense? The makeup stays the same, but he doesn't, so it can't really hide any changes that his face undergoes from us. Makeup can only do so much. My point is, it's a real testament to the fact that he still looks fucking incredible and seems to not age. I mean, other people wear professional makeup and they still don't look nearly as good as Billie, even if it's improving them a lot.

  4. I love how quickly the unflattering Billie made it from @Rumpelstiltskin2000's post to tumblr back to GDC Anyway I found this the other day. Billie picking me to sing Know Your Enemy

  5. It's in my top 15 GD songs. And probably the one I think is most underrated (although All the Time never gets enough love either).

  7. My boss just said today Billie was like Benjamin Bunny. I wondered why he said that, since he likes to make fun of Billie and that was probably some sort of derision. But I could only hear it as a compliment, that Billie makes people think of a bunny. He's such a cutie. About the chompers, as much as I love his old teeth, the new ones contribute to his bunny look, and to his cuteness. and the funniest is they're still a little fucked up, one of the two front incisors is bigger and a little more centered than the other one but he's so cute like this You mean the giant screens? I love being in the pit but even when you're second row, if you have only taller people around you (I've been in two GD gigs in France last year and there were many taller people than me, unfortunately) the giant screens can help you to see Billie a bit. And of course, for the people in the far back, it's a blessing. In the very first gig I want to there were no giant screens at all (a shame, in one of the biggest Paris venues...) and I was second row but only saw Billie's face scarcely because of the one person in front of me... I think the best is alternating between looking at the stage and looking at the screens, if you can't have a really good view on the stage without screens. That means, if you're neither in the first seats, nor in the first row, nor a very tall dude in the pit who can see above every one else. Example of what giant screens can bring: and also at 4:35, you can see Billie's face, his eyes... in a way you couldn't see without the giant screens. Although the person filming stayed most of the time with focus on the stage, and the vid is great that way, I wouldn't mind if it were only focused on the screens, such as here: which is one of my favorite JOS vids, because you can see Billie's beautiful face all the time.

  8. I think my favorite is also Tre, but I've loved the three of them from the start, same as all Green Day material from 21 CB. As to tell you why, I don't know, it's kind of personal, but the songs speak a lot to me. I don't see fillers more than any other album. The songs are different, without being really lighter, they speak of slightly different things in a different way than the previous albums, and I love their way of expressing them. Half of my favorite GD songs belong to the trilogy. I've been straightaway crazy about Stay The Night, Lazy Bones, Brutal Love, Walk Away and The Forgotten for instance and lately I can't stop listening to Stray Heart, Loss of Control, Sweet 16 and Oh Love. I've also enjoyed a lot Dos lately, notably I like Nightlife a lot even though I'm not fond of Lady Cobra's voice. But I like overall what Billie expresses in these albums. I've never had an issue about how they sound and I prefer that sound to the Demolicious sound (the album of trilogy demos). Billie himself said that he was pushing himself to write those songs but they don't feel sloppy to me, nor do they feel less accurate or honest from him, and incidentally, many of those songs have helped me and are very dear to me. That's the best I can say about it I really hope Billie, Mike and Tre are okay from the fires in California... and everything that goes wrong out there. I often listen to Billie's medley speeches during the RevRad era and I'm really hurt, to see his kindness and his positiveness and then crimes and disasters that happen.

  9. Speaking of oldies, comparing a 2010 Billie to a 2017 one The haircut changes him quite a bit. I prefer the black curly hair (and the slightly chubbier face) but either way it looks good

  10. It was over two decades ago so I think she can be forgiven for not remembering every detail of meeting snotty young Billie

  11. I agree all of those details sound wrong. Maybe she confused them with a different band or the time frame was way off.

  12. I think while he wears eyeliner frequently, he doesn’t usually do the full face foundation thing that needs to the case for TV appearances. He does look fantastic though, with or without the make up and I can’t wait to see how he’s going to look for the next round. In fact I’d just like a small glimpse of him, even with the beard. It’s totally about the quality of the band at the end of the day.

  13. I agree - I will take a straight up rock concert any day of the week.

  14. I agree to an extent but it feels like U2 have backed themselves into that corner. I think GD can still do what they want, big tour one time, smaller next but I agree that those big production set ups are a double edged sword, there are pros and cons.

  16. No no, he said "Jeannot lapin" in French and the English translation I've just looked up on Google is Benjamin Bunny I think he meant it in a way of saying Billie looks silly, he makes dumb faces and looks like a small animal of some sort, and for my boss it means Billie can not be a genius rockstar by looking that way. My boss can't imagine how this silliness of Billie's is so fangirlworthy. Or maybe he imagines it (he witnesses it seeing me every day at work...) and is just jealous lol Oh, okay. I didn't think of the screens behind them; indeed it must be annoying, and unnecessary. Yeah, and the result is a success. I praise (and envy ) Billie's dentist, I love all of his teeth the way they are now.

  17. The large screens on the side at amphitheaters/festivals don't bother me. It's the giant projection screens that bands put behind them (see U2 Joshua Tree tour) that's distracting and takes away from the music part. You can't even see the band because there's SO MUCH going on behind them. That's my feelings. I guess I'm just an old heart in a young body. Simple backdrops, lights, a little fire & pyro, nothing more. The fact that he didn't completely fix them is what makes it more enduring. After so many fixed chips, I'd think his dentist was probably like "dude, we need a better solution..." I also don't under stand peoples shocked reaction to the recent fix. He's be fixing them for years... compare his teenage years' teeth pics to Pop Disaster pics and it's clear he had them worked on/fixed/straighten.

  22. Dude, possibly. That sounds a lot more familiar. She said Subpop was moving Green Day up to Seattle to work around Nirvana and the other grunge bands because they wanted a similar sound.

  25. There was just a question on The Chase about Juliette Binoche winning her Oscar, and the only reason I knew the right answer was because it was the same night that Mike shit on her balcony.

  26. The only times I didn't have a good experience in a pit were at the SWMRS' concert last december and the Longshot's one back in May. After the Longshot's concert, my body was so in pain. I felt like I got hit by a truck. Out from my 3 GD concerts, only the first one I was in the pit (back in 2010). More exactly, it was on a pier and there were no seats at all. I had no choice. I ended second row in front of Mike. Best concert ever!!! Mike looked great and Billie... well... Blond Billie with a black shirt and a striped pants stole my heart that night. Probably the moment when I understood that Billie was my hero... even if he sprayed water right in my face that night, lol.

  27. I like that their shows are more focused on the music and crowd interaction than projection screens. I'm going to release bad energy and enjoy the music, not for the spectacle. I feel like some artists use more spectacle to compensate. I know GD isn't this way. Their shows are amazing no matter if its a basic club or huge festival with all the bells. I'm not a pit girl, so I liked that their lower/upper bowl seats were under $100 for RevRad.

  28. Can I also give props to the projection screens? It’s a shame they didn’t have a stage setup like this on tour. It’s so visually exciting. A lot of arena bands now use really cool technology in their shows and set designs. This would have been awesome. (Of course then the tickets would have cost twice as much but I can see then doing an amazing show)

  29. Early in the summer this year, there was really bad smoke here from fires in eastern Washington and British Columbia, as well as some coming up from California and Oregon. Basically the whole west coast was burning. The sun was blood red like that then. It looked apocalyptic. I wonder what the air quality index is in Oakland right now. Wildfire smoke like that can be really dangerous so I hope they're all staying safe.

  43. @The Bellie @IcyMoffatt @Hermione I agree with all of you. He does look small when compared to taller people, and sometimes when he's on stage because of his delicate build. I would probably be like "oh, you're a very normal size" if I were to stand next to him because I'm only 5'5", but he is definitely dwarfed by a lot of the fans that come up. He is a shorter than average, but not unusually short, feisty, high energy fluff boy.
    1 point
  44. The only thing more striking than how small he looks on stage is how much energy he has. I know it's normal for band frontmen to be energetic on stage but it's like watching a superhuman, constantly moving, running, jumping, dancing all while singing at the top of his lungs, playing/carrying a guitar and keeping command over the show/audience and never seems to be out of breath or tired, he makes it look effortless. I had a better view than usual at the end of the catwalk at my Rev Rad show and I was in awe watching him. I'm just totally fangirling thinking of that show now haha. Can't wait to see them live again
    1 point
  45. I mean regardless of how tall he actually is he does look tiny when you see him in the flesh running around on stage. I think the whole band looks surprisingly small when you see them at a show though. None of them are really that far from average but none of them are very tall or built very big either so when you see them they're like, a fun sized band Also I think short people tend to gravitate to other short people (and tall to tall etc) and Green Day fans are shorter on average than the general population. Can't prove my theory but I'm sure there's some truth to it

  46. Regarding Billie's height: Joke aside, Billie isn't tall if he is compared to men's average height. But I don't considered him as small. It just depends of the point of view. He is taller than me for about 3 inchs. So he is tall. But I would considered him small if I was going to compare him to, for example, all the men on my mother's side of family. I miss Billie. I want to see a new pîcture of him. I don't care if it was a new weird selfie in a bathroom, I just need one new picture!
