One Idiot's Trip To The Bay Area

It's Splash Time

If you've paid attention to me recently, you'll know I went to Oakland in February. I wrote a thing about it here: https://wander.media/from-scotland-to-oakland-with-rage-and-love

Please go read! (or at least click on the link and leave it open for a while)

I really enjoyed my time there, and I'm so grateful to have had this opportunity, although there's still so many places I'd love to visit. I missed out on a Cover Ups show by about a week, which is frustrating, but at least I got to see Mt. Eddy. I might write something else about the trip here when I have time.

What an amazing trip, you saw so many great spots  And a great write-up, loved the addition of song lyrics and all the nice pictures of Green Day related places.

Thank you! I'm glad you like it. I spent a long time working out a playlist for the adventure so I can listen to it while I'm at work and pretend I'm still there: here

2231 Ashby Ave is the exact address. Awesome to see a picture of Durant & Telegraph, thanks for including that! I love seeing pictures from people's trips to the Green Day landmarks, but yours is by far one of the best I've ever seen. Looks like you had a great time!

Like I said, I looked it up, but didn't care to remember the exact address. It's someone else's place now.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. I wanted to include more bands than just green day, and rancid is great for songs about the east bay.

I feel like everyone does christie road, but I couldn't see a way to get there by public transport (although I was intending to go up to the john muir house [he's from Dunbar, just down the coast from me, my family has been to the john muir country park a lot] in martinez, and that would have gone past pinole valley and christie road, even if not stopping). I'm not that okay with getting any form of taxi alone, and can't drive, so that will have to wait.

Here are some more East Bay songs I'd like to recommend :D

Carry On by Common Rider
Berkeley Is My Baby (And I Wanna Kill It) by Blatz
Welcome to Berkeley by Fifteen (I don't really like this song, but it fits your theme)
Two Blocks by Isocracy

Cheers! I'll check those out, I've been meaning to look up more since reading larry livermore's books.
