Let people place things in either or both in accordance with their preference. Trying to engineer the natural flow of the forum has been the problem.

I agree. Trying to usher everyone into an either or competition makes the whole thing feel really limited, and therefore less creative.

What they said. Same for visual arts. Sometimes, art is a form of diary. In addition to this, removing the forum for own music was not a good idea. Art should always be encouraged.

I don't really see how it limits creativity. This doesn't limit what or how people can write, only where it's posted. How does having to post what you've written in a thread instead of a blog or vice versa limit what you write? It's just a case of choosing one place for writing to be posted so that it's easier to find and not confusingly split up or double posted.

I agree that art should be encouraged, but it has to be encouraged in a way that works. The forum for people's own music was dead, it wasn't working, so instead we're hoping that letting people post it in Green Day Chat or General will allow it to get more attention. We definitely don't want to prevent people posting their creative work, just want to find the best place for it.

I think I prefer Words I Might Have Ate, because it's easier to post in there, when you have just one thread for all your work, it's easier for the people who read the work to view all the work by the writer, all on one page.

But I guess if a person isn't a regular writer it's better for them to post their work in blogs. But since I do write and post regularly I prefer Words I Might Have Ate. :)

I still prefer the blogs, just because it's so much more organized when viewing/commenting on a certain piece. I loved the layout of blogs a lot more better than the Words forum, plus I'm sure that most of the users read blogs rather than the Words I Might Have Ate section.

I think writers should post their work in a thread in Words I Might Have Ate, so that part of the forum is encouraged and honestly, a thread seems more organised to me.

I like WIMHA better but I wouldn't be against blogs anymore since they get so much more exposure. Already said this somewhere but yeah.

I agree that both would be the best solution but I don't think that'll ever be an option, based on what Andres has said previously.

We are aware there is something wrong with the poll. We are working on it.

There is something wrong with the po-- oh, nvm.

I was at first uncomfortable with using blogs and have warmed up to it significantly, just because I realize how much better it is than having all work posted in a thread. There are so many categories you can create in blogs that will essentially help to organize what goes where. It's so much better for this purpose, plus I love how in the blogs you can easily tell how many people has viewed a certain piece instead of in threads where it just totals the view for the thread in it's entirety.

However, once I found out that we were moving it back to WIMHA, I got a bit 'tired' of all the changes going back and forth. Why not just leave it one place - in it's original point instead of going back and forth? I do fear this may just leave things a bit awkward or something, but why not have it so that we can choose one or the other? I think by choosing blogs or WIMHA for an individual instead of having it set as a group thing will make it seem less 'forced'.

Otherwise, these 'changes' seem kind of pointless if we're going to stick it in one place for 6 months to a year then move it back to the other place. I don't understand why we keep going back and forth. I understand that this is just a poll with expressed opinions on our preferences, but won't this eventually lead to that changed based on popular preferences?

That said, I would really love to see blogs be used more as in posting pieces of writing and stuff again.

I like the blogs better. I think they're much more effective for ensuring that the maximum amount of people see your content. A problem with the threads is that they easily get buried and forgotten, and I feel like blog entries are much easier to digest than a long thread.

Another problem is that we're encouraged to make a separate thread, in separate forums, for our art and writing. This is difficult because frequently my art and writing overlap. Also as some other people have said, I don't make enough work to maintain a thread over a long period of time.

I hope we'll be allowed to use the blogs.

I would prefer the forum were it easier to keep track of, but by its very nature it's quite difficult. Especially by limiting people to one thread each - that really doesn't help given how they can be mixing it up between various forms of creative writing. So if one DOES have to go, keep the blogs. But allow people to copy their stuff across first.

Here is my issue with keeping stuff in blogs and WIMHA. As a viewer I am not going to put the effort into looking in two places, in my mind having to do so is stupid and a waste of my time. So I ended up missing a good chunk of creative writing. I personally now follow words WIMHA and actually keep up with everyone's post. Whereas I missed a fair amount of writing in blogs simply because I personally can not stand sifting through content I am not interested in. I don't mind where the content goes, but please only one place.

This entire problem began when WIMHA was made read-only then removed because we wanted the blog system to be utilized; something I was never thrilled about as a mod but I do wish I had challenged more firmly in retrospect because it turned out to be a pretty bad move, all things considered.

A few people have been successful with blogs and having consistent followers and others prefer the forums, would it be so bad to give them that choice? I could blog about things I could make as a thread in general. If I wanted to write a blog post about the situation in Syria it's not like anyone is saying, no, we have threads for that. If someone wants to blog about a Green Day show, no one is telling them, no, we have threads for that. If someone wants to blog about personal issues that are discussed in the advice forum, no one says, no, we have threads for that. So why should it be any different for creative work?

I'd also mention that it seems 'feedback week' went over pretty well and that, in terms of organizing and responding, crossed platforms from blogs to threads. And that would be just another thing disrupted by making another change. Just leave well enough alone. Put it as a poll option, I bet it wins.

Well it's easier not to make a decision and just say both so of course it would. We're going to take into account all the feedback left here as well so that idea/opinion will still be listened to and considered even though it isn't on the poll. The poll is more just to show us which place more people would prefer if we do switch to only having one place.

Well, from my view, getting rid of the WIMHA forum for a second time would inconvenience a lot of people and telling people what they can and can't blog about would be absurd.

If I were going to vote for one or the other, I'd vote for the forum, but that doesn't mean it isn't rational to let people blog their creative works when they can blog every other thing that a thread could potentially exist for already.

Blogs because NOBODY EVER READS MY THREAD >:((((!!!!!

I just like blogs better but it doesn't matter. John has good points though, this whole thing is confusing.

I read all the threads, I stopped reading blogs a while ago. Just haven't found time to leave thoughtful comments for everyone

Blogs, because it's easier for people to comment on each individual piece.

If someone posts just a one-off thing, then the blogs are better for that. But if someone's constantly posting their writing (like I do), then the Words I Might Have Ate forum is better for that. So: JUST KEEP BOTH OF THEM!

I think supporting blogs by saying it's easier to comment on one piece at a time is not a brilliant argument, you can always quote the piece or state the title of the piece you are commenting on in a WIMHA thread

I really don't know what to pick because if they keep the thread it's at the bottom so it's less likely ill read it as the GD stuff is at the top? But if the blogs wich are at the side I rarely ready anyway because their on the side and I forget about them...

voted for Words I Might Have Ate cos originally it was awesome and way better than blogs, better organised and you just saw the popular stuff better, idk, i just prefered it...then we had blogs and as much as i like blogs, i hated it when Words I Might Have Ate got closed cos of it and all of our writings and answers got deleted...

in blogs you could just do everything and it's just hard for someone who's just interested in specific creative things...the best solution would have been to just leave Words I Might Have Ate and make blogs for everything else but that

but since we can't change it, i just voted for Words I Might Have Ate in the hope we all can somehow manage it that it gets as it was before...probably with some time it will...

that all doesn't mean i don't like blogs - i do!! i just think WIMHA was better back then somehow, it's just the question whether we can ever get back to that (that's why it was a hard choice for me anyways, but in the end i voted for WIMHA, cos i just prefer it no matter what else i consider)
