This is the 7th song of the story. Benjamin is contemplating his next moves and is in awe how things have gone so bad.
7. Preserve
The city is soon only a pile of rubble
It has taken too much beating and trouble
All old buildings are nowadays burning down
And leaving us with their ashes on the ground
Only the sturdy constructions will soon be left
Also they will be gone soon by construction-theft
Soon here will be nothing left worth saving
And we ask ourselves: "What is happening?"
What are we trying to preserve?
Things that we have never deserved?
And so the hope has once again adjourned
As the city beside us continue to burn
He made my way forwards through the rocks and stones
There's nothing left that resembles what he'd call home
This city is now showing big signs of scars and wear
And apparently nothing is left here to spare
What are we trying to preserve?
Things that we have never deserved?
And so the hope has once again adjourned
As the city beside us continue to burn
So this is it for this city
He has made his final decision
He has to end it, now that it has gone too far
And then afterwards leave the door of hope ajar
What are we trying to preserve?
Things that we have never deserved?
And so the hope has once again adjourned
As the city beside us continue to burn
What are we trying to preserve?
Are we afraid, are we too concerned?
As a new page we should now begin to turn
And listen to reason that we once learned
Any comments are again appreciated.
