1) No campaigning via posts or PMs
You can't send PM's telling people to vote for you for any award, nor can you make posts asking people to. Just to close a loophole, don't ask someone else to ask people to vote for you either. We don't mind a simple line in your signature, but that's as far as campaigning can go. If you are asking people to vote for you, you will be disqualified.
2) Mods cannot be nominated for some awards
The categories will be posted up this Wednesday, and mods cannot be nominated for 12 of the 27 awards, the first 11 are grouped together to make that point more clear when voting. We decided this was more fair for other users, since awards like "nicest" and "best green day fan" or "smartest" tend to often go to moderators since we're seen around the most. There are still 15 other categories that mods can be nominated in.
3) Do not create new accounts to vote
If we find that anyone is creating new accounts to vote for themselves, they will be disqualified. If someone is found creating new accounts to vote for a friend, all their votes will be disqualified.
4) Only members with 100+ posts can vote for 'Overall Best Contributor'
There will be a prize this year for 'Overall Best Contributor', and to make this vote fair for everyone, only members with over 100 posts can participate in voting for this category. This will eliminate the problem of people creating accounts, or having their friends join just to vote for them to win a prize. It might seem petty and trivial to the majority of people, but we do want these awards to be fun and fair for everyone. This is the 12th award (mentioned above) that mods cannot be nominated for.
So there are the rules. If you have any questions/concerns or rule suggestions, please use this thread. This thread is not to discuss the categories, those will be posted up on Wednesday and, as usual, we will allow you guys to vote to add or remove categories at that time.
We will try to get all the categories and any other suggestions worked out by the end of this month, and voting is currently scheduled to begin on September 15, 2008
