I never turn my laptop off;
but anyway, i accidently just turned it off, restarted it, logged in, and a message from windows popped up saying "this copy of windows is not genuine".

anyway, it's asking me to put in the product code and all this shit, and i've got no fucking idea where i find that, because...well...i'm not too flash with keeping paperwork or anything.

so. any suggestions
1. why the fuck this happened because it is a genuine version of windows.
2. how to fix it
Melly.
Not sure why it did it, buttt

Did it come with a Windows CD?
There should be a little sticker somewhere that says the product key that you could use.

Product key should be at that sticker Melly wrote or if I remember correctly it should be on a booklet where the CD was sticked on..

Anyway what you should do is find product key and everything else you can find from Windows, and call a tech support telling them what happened to you - they should be able to generate a new key for you

The product key should be in the box Windows came in. Or, just call Microsoft if you don't have that.

My product code is on a little sticker on the bottom of the laptop.

so's mine but when i type it in to activate my microsoft office, it won't accept it.

(and btw, never turning your laptop off is a sure fire way to decrease its life by quite a lot).

If you're sure that your license is valid (you didn't have OEM and now you have new computer for example), then call MS hotline by all means. After all that's what they're there for biggrin.gif
(had to call them one time myself and it was all solved very quickly)
