Joey
New season is just around the corner and I'll open this for chatting about when we get closer to the time. We'll also have weekly prediction threads for results, just games to keep the interest going once the title is decided in late February.

There's a GDC Fantasy Football league again this year. I did shockingly last year so have some pride to restore.

Create a team and join the 25713-7835 league.
Joey
Consider the Barclays Premier League 08-09 thread open.

So, Hleb, Flamini and Gilberto gone. Do Arsenal have a midfield this season?
madie
Still got Fabs happy.gif

But I just read that Wenger is searching for a midfielder
mechanicalman
As long as Wenger gets a replacement for Flamini then Arsenal do have a midfield.
greendaytone
Liking the new thread!

I think Denilson is going to come in to the fold more this year, and i think he can be a good replacement for Flamini. Looked quite good at the end of last season.

We (Arsenal) could still do with another player or 2 though.

I like us to sell Adebayor and replace him with another striker, like David Villa. Although thats very unlikely.
Marlon
Yeah, I like this thread too.

I think Samir Nasri is going to be a big part of the team this season. But I'd like Adebayor to stay...

The Underbelly
While Arsenal are worrying about their midfield, I'm mouthwatering about ours: Lampard, Deco, Ballack, Essien, Mikel. And look SAF, 40% of them is under 30.
greendaytone
Yeah i'm not sure what the old goat was on about there. Chelsea, for me, prob still have the best players. I think Scolari is going to be good for them as well.
mechanicalman
Chelsea's midfield seems to be full of dickheads. ohmy.gif
chickin'pickin'
It's going to be tight again.

Friedel to Aston Villa? ohmy.gif

Robinson to replace him? ohmy.gif
mechanicalman
Jay can see into the future. ohmy.gif

If United can get through the difficult first couple of months (many key players out) then i'm pretty sure nobody will catch them.

Not a hope of unitd winning the champions league again
Liverpool wont even be in hte UEFA Cup
Cardiff for the FA Cup! laugh.gif laugh.gif biggrin.gif
And you gave the league cup to the mighty ARSENAL(the only 1 ill agree with)
The championship could be won by nearly anyone. I'd say QPR though they've got the next "Messi" on loan from Real Madrid
League 1 has to be Leeds or they might as well call it a day
Dont know whos good in league 2
Excalibur
Im a man united fan and it kills me to say this but i think its chelsea'a year this year. mad.gif

GO Gunners woot.gif

1-0 at home to WBA is hardly convincing. Still, I'll let them off, with it being the first game of the season.

Also, well done Hull!

^ I know ay, I miss Fabs sad.gif

Nasri looks promising happy.gif
Laura33
So, it was a draw... better than I expected tbh laugh.gif tongue.gif
The Underbelly
Chelsea was brilliant today. The midfield Ballack-Deco-Lampard-Mikel worked really well. And 4 goals are always nice. So, top of the league for now smile.gif

Catched the second half at Old Trafford and my compliments to the Toons. Unrecognizable compared to the fixture last year.
Excalibur
Man U drew 1-1 to Newcastle. Terrible game. Man U are useless without Ronaldo.

I cant believe it. NEWCATLE the most over paid under achieving dressing room in the history of football.
Laura33

Don't talk bullshit.

Anyhow, disappointing by Uniteds standards, but still it's only one game in.
Joey
United had a dodgy start last year, they'll pick it up.
mechanicalman
I was impressed with Newcastle. Gutierrez and Coloccini look like their first good signings in years, Duff and Martins played well, Given's still one of the best keepers in the league. I'd love it if they won the league. Love it.

And if ye dont win the league this year Scolari will get sacked ye'll spend another £100,000,000.00 on new players
The premierships just about money, kinda sad dontcha think?

Just on weekends. Till the European season starts, then there's football on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday aswell.

And you should support Chelsea.

Support Chelsea or Man Utd if you want glory.

Support Arsenal if you want to support real football.
