BLOOD SEX AND BOOZE IN CROCKETT, CALIFORNIA!!

HOLY SHIT is all i can say!

billie joe armstrong's small, tucked away hometown was invaded by an army of whacked out green day fans friday, may 16.

it all went down at toot's tavern on 2nd ave. in crockett -- THE FOXBORO HOT TUBS!!! LIVE

the show was meant to be a party for the band's friends and family -- but, they allowed maybe 100 or so fans in...and there were plenty more who waited all day and didn't make the cut

by mid-day, 2nd ave. in crockett turned into a full-on street festival with larry the hot dog guy, garrett the spray gun guy, orange port-a-potties, skateboarders, and all sorts of chemicals and liquids!

i used the port-a-potty and all i could think was 'god i hope there isn't an earthquake right now, that would suck'

details of the show are a bit hazy because I ALMOST PUKED TWICE during it while trying to stay alive in the midst of complete chaos -- people were hanging from the walls and ceiling like fucking spiderman in an effort to avoid the outrageous crush and heat of the crowd in that small bar that had no air-conditioning and no ventilation...

shit, it's sunday afternoon and i still haven't showered--the show went until 1 a.m., i got to my hotel at 2 a.m. and i left for my flight home at 6 a.m. -- no time!

today i will shower i promise...first, lest you think i've completely lost it--i was already in long beach, california, when i found out about the foxboro shows up north--i just extended my stay thank you very much...

here's a list of some of the night's highlights to tempt your curiousity:

1. toot's bar, it's employees, security and the people of crockett rule!

2. the opening acts: outstanding--the cobras were so sexy and loveable and mommies friend, with billie joe's older brother on drums, rocked hard and wet..

3. a woman in a wheelchair made it to the front of the pit with her mom -- when she had to get out, her mom backed her out as the whole crowd chanted: BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP...

4. a cop got punched in the face (all of crockett's finest were out on their a.t.v.'s and tan uniforms--like 20 cops--(toot's made the right call on that one -- we are the waiting started unraveling around 5 p.m. and doors didn't open until 8)

5. a large woman ran panicking from the pit during the show, arms flailing screaming "GET OUT OF MY FUCKING WAY -- I GOTTA GET OUT OF HERE -- GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

6. i grabbed a woman who was fainting and threw her in front of a massive fan cooling the band and then got stuck behind it -- a great view, but i had to hold onto to the window behind me and the wall and the speaker next to me keep from getting killed --


BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING OF ALL:


THE FOXBORO HOT TUBS ROCKED THEIR FUCKING ASSES OFF UNTIL BILLIE JOE MADE A FINAL PERFECT BACKWARDS SWAN DIVE INTO THE CROWD, SURFED, LANDED BACK ON THE STAGE, AND IN A FRENZIED FIT CRAWLED ALL OVER IT, PANTS RIDING VERY LOW, ASS EXPOSED...

(told you i had a good view)

EVERYBODY LET'S GET NAKED!!!



...screamed billie joe armstrong last night midway through the sweat-saturated set of the fabulous foxboro hot tubs in their first live performance, ever!

oh it was a happening baby...

looking like a tricked out pimp from the 70's glam era and in excellent voice, billie joe strutted onstage with his buddies tre cool, mike dirnt, jason white, jason freese and kevin preston, a smiling, rocking guitar wonder in an elegent black suit and skinny red tie...

it all went down at the stork club in oakland, california, last night -- the first green day show in almost three years...

if you're confused at this point and don't know who the hot tubs are or what i'm talking about at all, do your research...

oh all right, i'll tell you: THEY'RE GREEN DAY YOU DUMB FUCKS!

barring blood, sex and booze, a network tune and a couple other covers, it was all hot tubs! and they fucking rocked even if i couldn't see them and even if it was 5000 degrees...

5000 degrees in the oakland, california, shade yesterday as we the fans sweated it out under so many black umbrellas it looked more like a funeral than a punk rock show.

and by the way, a shout out to the security at the venue, especially tom: YOU SUCK

anywayzzz -- with his teased out, frosted blond hair, white sunglasses and fur collared duster, the most prominent thing missing from billie joe armstrong was his guitar--all night long!

it didn't matter--

guitar or no, billie joe is a star...i'll put it to you the way it was put to me by a giggly 21 year-old kirsten dunst look-alike:

"if billie joe ever dies i'll turn lesbian because he's everything i think a man should be."

IF I COULD HAVE JUST SEEN MIKE AND TRE FOR MORE THAN A SECOND OR TWO it might have been that much better...when i did catch a glimpse tre was decked out in an elegant gold suit jacket and shorts and mike in a white dinner jacket over a tight-fitting black vested outfit with thick rimmed, skinny black deiter-like glasses...

Great show. Hotter than hell in Oakland 95F, 35C. People in line were great and the venue staff were very nice. Anyone that wanted to go to the show got it. Before 5pm there were maybe 100 people in line.

The Tubbies played everything off "Stop, Drop and Roll" plus a cover of The Network's "Supermodel Robots," a cover of "Blood, Sex, and Booze," (That's how Billie introduced it: "This is a cover song."), and the encore consisted of a string of covers that included some Who, but most of which I didn't actually recognize. (EDIT: It was "A Quick One While He's Away.") Billie only sang and played tambourine; he did not touch a guitar the whole show. They had another guitarist named Kevin Preston, from the band Prima Donna.

After the show, we went out back and I got a chance to talk briefly to Mike. I was wearing my Mother Mary FHT tshirt, which Mike said was his idea. Brittney was there, and no, she is not pregnant. (Son of Edit: I should have said she did not appear to be pregnant. The following night Kevin let the cat out of the bag that she indeed is.) Tré was flitting around, but as usual, he's not real big on talking to fans. Billie was a real sweetie after the show, spending quite a bit of time with everyone. He was so animated and excited describing the location of tonight's show in Crockett to Leanne. "Yeah, it's right next to my High School, and my Junior High...It almost the last exit off the freeway, Adrienne, what's the name of the exit?...Well, if you hit the bridge you've gone to far....." What a sweetie. Adrienne too, was as sweet as the last time I met her. The best way to get a pic with Billie? Give your camera to Adrienne. God bless her, she wrangled him, aside (after he was finished talking to Jello Biafra(!!)) And took a picture of me and my friend with Billie.

I'm really sad I won't be able to make tonight's show, because I think it will be even more fun.

As a summation, those guys looked like they were having a genuinely great time. Billie had a fucking ear to ear smile so often that it just was heartwarming. I think this is their way of easing back in to being a band and touring again. After the arena tours of AI, they just wanted to fuck around a little bit and have some fun.

What a treat to be there for their first gig. For $5. Yep, I feel pretty lucky.

No problem ladies, my pleasure I got my phonebill Beth-it's ridiculous I don't mind though, it was worth every penny knowing that you could hear some of the gig and you were updating fellow GDCers on how I was getting on!

I remember number 5, she was hilarious. She expected the gig to have some sort of calm ambience or something. As soon as the crowd started to go wild, she went crazy. She started screaming 'I'm gonna die.' Her and her husband started fighting with the security guard for not looking after them properly. Then the bitch stole my Tre Cool drumstick!!

Number 6 was me Thanks again for that Nikki. You prevented me from fainting AND let me watch the whole show from the stage. Without you, I wouldn't have got my kiss from the Rev...you're my hero

yeah i was worried about that....I will help you pay for it...

Noooo, don't worry about it at all! Luckily I had quite a bit of dollars left over from my trip so I can afford to pay it off this week

^It feels that way to me too. My experience wasn't as extensive as either of yours, but it still feels unreal. If I didn't have witnesses I would wonder if I really talked to Billie Joe!

My face is hilarious in this one. Tre told me to pull a funny face so I ended up with this retarded look on my face. I took the camera off my friend after she took it and called Tre back, I told him that the photo came out too blurry....but really, I wanted to get a far better picture with him than this one



This one was in Crockett with Kevin and another really good friend of the band. I can't remember his name, and I wish I could because he was so nice to me. He looked after me backstage when I couldn't find my friend, introduced us to Tre and talked to Mike about us



The following picture is bizzare to me. Billie Joe and I have the exact same expressions on our faces. Everyone I show this to says that we either look extremely bored or completely wasted and I can assure you that I was neither!! My friend is also inbetween us with this freaky grin on her face

My eyeliner might have stayed on but look at the state of my hair I started the day off with poker straight hair, but the heat inside made me pour about 5 bottles of water over myself. I wouldn't have did that if I knew I was gonna meet the guys after!!
